The FEAR and TERROR that oozes out of your posts about Andrew Luck in a Dolphin Uniform..gives me sexual excitement.
ANYONE who is on the suck for Luck band wagon have a quitters mentality. It makes me nauseous. Seriously. It shows the character you have, and probably always have had and always will have. Would it be great to have Luck? Sure. I truly believe this guy is going to be one helluva a QB in the NFL. But to encourage YOUR team to lose is a load of toxic bull **** and you should quit being stupid, quitting *****es. It's pretty pathetic.
Okay. So tell us what we get if we, say, go 8-3 from here on out for a season-ending record of 8-8. What do we get from that? How does that help the franchise? No one's encouraging the team to lose. No one is rooting for losses. The point of Suck for Luck isn't to hope the team loses, it's to say that hey, maybe the losing isn't so bad this time because of the light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe losing a lot now is the best way to win a lot later.
I know Sec, I'am overreacting, right..Our stadium is about to be pro-other team, but other than that, I'am perfect.. Let me ask you a question.? if we lose this game, do you thinkwe should clean house? and don't put Luck in the thought process...Whats the right thing to do, my take is you clean house, enough is enough, do not let this embarrassment continue.. Funny thing is, because of what is happening perception wise and what is being talked about, and how we match up with this team, I will bet the dolphins win this game..
and there is nothing wrong with that thought process and rooting interest, its the promotion of it, that is hurting the image of this team, and may have altered certain events.
According to whom? People against SFL in the first place? Come on, DJ. Get real here. Miami is already viewed as a terrible sports town nationally, with LeBron loathing piled on top. And let's stop pretending like Dolfandom is the only fan base rooting for SFL. The Colts appear to have made SFL an institutional policy, and you can bet their fans want another 15 years of elite quarterbacking; meanwhile, Seahawks and Jaguars fans are absolutely on board with SFL, and I'm sure the Vikings fans who were outraged with the Christian Ponder selection wouldn't mind tossing him overboard for Andrew Luck. Let's stop pretending that this is a reflection of a bad fan base. It's a reflection of rational desperation and frustration with nearly two decades of unfulfilled promise and heartbreak.
Get off your high-horse and don't question my character.....I wish I could type all the names I want to call you. But you aren't worth being banned.
Bro, no matter, it's a loser's mentality to give up and want to lose. Anyone who has ever actually competed would understand. There is no way to be a competitive person, to be a true fan, and hope for losses. It's ridiculous. I would rather win now than to have Luck. At least we would show some ****ing heart. If this team doesn't have heart all together, then one guy isn't gonna come on and give it to them.
Good job dodging the question while constructing a straw man. No one on the SFL bandwagon wants to lose. SFLers aren't magically conjuring up losses through strength of sheer willpower. This team is awful as currently constituted. This team is losing on its own, despite all the tough talk by its players. The objective isn't to root for losses, it's to put the team in a position to stop losing for the next 15 years. If you can't understand that, it's because you're too busy looking down on those trying to salvage something from this mess of a season. And you can't explain what ending up with, say, an 8-8 record gets us over Andrew Luck. There is no benefit there.
A little rumor floating around out here is that Brandon Loydd asked for a trade because he didn't want to play with Tebow as the starter.......take it for what it's worth, but Denver will be drafting a QB and Tebow may not be there come next training camp. Champ Bailey even hinted today that Tebow wont be around very long at the rate he's going.
Brandon Lloyd was traded because he doesn't fit in an offense designed around Tim Tebow. The closest thing Tebow had to a Lloyd-like deep threat at Florida was Percy Harvin, who played in the slot. And if Lloyd and Bailey would rather lose with Orton, then their personnel opinions can be safely disregarded.
We don't have to want our team to lose, they are going to anyway. I hope they win every week, but even before the game starts I know that I'm just getting my hopes up. **** the players who don't like the fans that want Luck here! Start playing like you belong in the NFL then complain, you ****ing whiny over paid ****s! If the players weren't **** or really under preforming we wouldn't be win-less and be talking about this type of garbage. I'd LOVE to be talking about how much I like Henne, or how Soliai deserves what we payed him, or how it'd suck if they traded so and so, or how wonderful it is to have less than 2 looses at this point in the season.
Being an SFLer isn't about cheering for losses. None of us (at least I don't) sit on my couch on Sundays hoping to lose. But it's an inevitability we all know is coming. If we were sitting here at 4-1 or 3-2 or hell, even 2-3, none of this would be going on. But this franchise as it's built right now offers zero hope for the future Being an SFLer is trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's a about the consolation that a player like Andrew Luck is waiting for us at the end of the rainbow, making every Sunday night not feel so sh*tty. It's about knowing that of all the seasons, this is the one to finish 1-15 or 2-14 and not 7-9 yet again. Because this season, 1 or 2 wins might get us a once in a generation QB who will make this franchise matter again. 7 or 8 wins gets us another interior lineman and another year of Jeff Ireland and Co. Being an SFLer is about hope and change for the future. It's about bringing the pride and glory back to one of the most storied franchise in the NFL. It's about wanting to win again. And if losing short term means winning for the next decade and a half.....it seems like a no-brainer to me.
Excuse me, but do you think Miami is steeped in history? How long are you going to ride the coat tails of the undefeated season? The fact is that Miami last won a championship 38 years ago, which was probably before you were even born. And since the beginning of the 1997 season, they have a losing regular season record and they are 3-6 in the playoffs. During that same span, my joke of a team has won more regular season games than it has lost and has a 7-7 playoff record. Please stop acting like the Miami Dolphins are the New York Giants, Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears or the Pittsburgh Steelers when it comes to history. I know the Jets have nothing to show other than Super Bowl III. I get it. But Miami isn't too far ahead of them.
The team has been relevant up until the early 2000s. The Jets were **** for 25+ years. We're on our way, though.
Who made you the president of fandom? Please stop with that true fan crap. There is no right way or wrong way to be a fan. To bash others for having differing opinions than you is classless.
I've seen people on this board talk about being nervous if we win football games. That makes me nervous as a Dolphins fan.
For those against the Suck For Luck mentality, tell me what kind of heart this Dolphins team has shown this year. Then try and explain to me why they even deserve ANY fan support. At least in 2007 it was a team completely devoid of talent and multiple injuries. For all intents and purposes, they played hard. Cameron Worrell was playing safety for Christ sake. CAMERON WORRELL. This team has had one major injury to a guy many don't think was that great in the first place. They've phoned it in. We're doing the same as fans, but also hoping this continues in an effort to improve at the most important position in sports. Plain and simple.
wow...it is so enlightening to read a thread like this to find out what is "really" going on from people with the inside scoop. I am shocked we are able to even field a 53 man roster given Ireland as the GM. I certainly haven't heard how big of program Ireland "actually" has been in signing our draft picks let alone free agents and traded players. Seems to me none of our rookies engage in holdouts under his watch. Didn't hear Ricky Williams take shots at Ireland going out the door like he did Sparano. RW is not shy to speak his mind. In fact, I recall RW saying he wanted to resign with Miami even after making negative comments following last season. To my knowledge I haven't heard any negative quotes about Ireland from any players that left. Players didn't have a problem calling out Bill Parcels, but apparently there is some secret oath the players take when it comes to Ireland. JT must be biting his lip all year..."I want to be a Dolphin, but that friggen Ireland blah, blah, blah..." And now Dez Bryant's version of what happened is being treated as fact in this thread. The same player that was suspended in college for lying to the NCAA, a top 5 draft talent that fell to 22 b/c of character concerns from other GMs, refused traditional rookie hazing causing a rift on the Cowboys, gets kicked out of a mall for refusing to pull up his pants (WTF) and swearing at the cops, faces two lawsuits saying he owes $850,000 due to immature management of money, and was dropped by his mentor (Deon Sanders) b/c he didn't want him around kids he worked with due to his attitude. Apparently Ireland is even responsible for not signing Harbaugh. Couldn't have been Harbaugh wanted to stay on the West Coast and liked what the 49ers were offering. When I read threads like this I feel like I am fly on the wall of what "really" happened and what "will" happen. I am truly impressed by the omniscience some of you possess!
Hypothetical question here guys... We've all seen the amazing turnaround that's happened in San Francisco with the hiring of Jim Harbaugh as their new head coach. Currently the 49er's have a record of 5-1 and validated their new approach with the defeat of the previously undefeated Cinderella Detroit Lions...and doing it all with the same pieces that were there before Harbaugh's arrival....Ted Ginn, Frank Gore and of course their "elite QB" Alex Smith. Now, granted our team's season is tanked. There's no question about that. A run at the playoffs is not only improbable, but more like impossible. So here's the hypothetical question... If Miami loses to Denver this Sunday and Stephen Ross finally pulls the trigger and fires Tony Sparano...names an interim HC (either in Daboll or Nolan) and the Dolphins play out the remaining 10 games of the season with a record of 7-3 or 8-2 under their new interim head coach, does the urgency still become S4L or does the urgency become filling the spots that caused the interim HC to lose those 2 to 3 games under their tenure? I ask this realistic question, not so much that I'm opposed to drafting a future franchise QB (although my money's on Landry Jones being the next stud and not Luck), but to illustrate our need for a new coaching direction. Prior to Jim Harbaugh's arrival in San Francisco...Alex Smith? CRAP! Ted Ginn? CRAP! The only potentially bright spot for the 49er's was Gore and even he was hot and cold like showers here in Afghanistan. but in comes Jim Harbaugh with his new coaching philosophy and regime and using the same "crap" pieces that was there before, 'Frisco is suddenly contenders. Granted it's still early in the season...and those of us who have followed the Dolphins for years remember Miami's strong out of the gate performances only to implode during the second half of the season, but thus far to date....San Francisco looks solid under new leadership. So, the Dolphins lose...Sparano's fired...the interim HC posts a winning record during his tenure (7-3/8-2), where does our priority lie in the offseason? Build on the interim HC's success in proving it was coaching and not players that caused us to be 0-6, or act emotionaly and pander to the fan base and try and make a run for some fantasy college QB that's been the talk of the NFL just as much as the winning teams themselves?
Desides, you can boldface and underline it all you want but that still won't change the fact that people do in fact want to lose for Luck. Here's one of many examples, so quit preaching it doesn't exist. http://www.thephins.com/forums/showthread.php?66370-Last-game-of-the-season....Jan-1st....vs-the-Jets.-What-would-you-root-for Sounds like you're maybe trying to convince yourself it doesn't exist. Good job trying to rationalize why it's "ok" for fans to root against their team. If rooting for a successful future requires you to first root for losses, then you're still rooting for your team to lose no matter how you dress it up. Hey, guess what, Desides? I know you'll find this totally absurd, but teams have ACTUALLY won SBs and had successful franchises without having the #1 pick QB. I know--- crazy, right!!!!! If you think Luck is the only way this organization can be successful, then this organization has a LOT more to worry about than just QB. Wrong. An 8-8 record means finishing 8-3 in our final 11 games, which means this team will have improved across the board, had players develop, shown some heart and resolve, come together as a team, and flashed signs of promise for the future. That absolutely WOULD be worth building on going into 2012, especially with an improved coach. Look at San Fran. Are they winning b/c they started over from scratch with a potentially elite QB, or are they winning b/c of great coaching? An 0-16 or 1-15 record would mean problems exist everywhere and that this team might have to be completely scrapped, potentially taking years to properly rebuild. So yeah, I'm rooting for 8-8 and a great HC who can take this team to 11-5 in 2012. What I'm NOT rooting for is another rebuild no matter who the QB is.
-Attitude is a reflection of leadership. (See San Francisco 49er's) -Motivation is a reflection of leadership. (See San Francisco 49er's) -The will to win is a reflection of leadership. (See San Francisco 49er's) I reference the 49er's not that I have a hard on for them, but to show the right leadership with the same "losing players" can indeed produce a winning season. Surely no on here is going to defend Tony Sparano as a great coach and it's just our players that plain suck...are they? For Christ's sake, these same players won SEVEN games last season.
I'd say getting a Franchise QB is still your primary option. When new HCs come into the job there is typically success early on because no one has a lot of tape and precedence on what the team does. We saw it happen with us when we had the amazing turnaround to 11-5 with not much talent. The Jets started off pretty fast with Rex. Hugh Jackson with Oakland. And now SF. A regime change can get you some wins, but I believe prolonged success is going to come from blue-chip players on offense and defense. That franchise QB is still not on our roster and until it is, we'll be stuck in a do-while loop.
Come on guys. I know the Dolphins will make the playoffs this year. Even that uninspired performance last week against our bitter rival, the Jets, won't slow down the Dolphins. You guys gotta believe with all your hearts and hope the playoff fairy pops out of nowhere and sprinkle playoff glitter around the team.
Totally agree. If Orton were still the QB and we had not lost Henne I would be thinking of this game as one we would win but seeing the Bronks player reaction to Tebow being inserted in as QB and adding an extra week to game plan for us makes this game alot more loseable for us, if you ask me!
Just like when we won our last 6 games in 2005 to finish a mediocre 9-7, right? How'd 2006 turn out again? Oh, that's right! We started off the season 1-7. Good thing we won those last 6 the year before
Exactly. Each season is it's own entity. Going on a winning streak isn't going to mean anything. Reshad Jones will still be terrible whether we win 0 games or 7 games. The players who are good will still be good whether we win 0 or 7. This season is so frusturating because we're losing, yet have no hope for the future on the roster. That's why "suck for Luck" has taken on a life of it's own. If we had drafted Ryan Mallett or some other QB in the draft and started 0-5, you could look forward to the rookie playing, developing and get some enjoymeny out of that. But instead we are watching Matt Moore
Terribly. But that had more to do with picking Culpepper over Brees than picking Jason Allen in the 1st round. Btw, we started 3-7 that year.
For that to happen..the Colts have to draft Andrew Luck..like I predicted. Remember, my prediction was that if the Colts got Luck, the Jets would trade for Peyton Manning for one last hurrah at the title. But that's all over now. We are going for it. We got our eye on the prize, and it is full speed ahead for Andrew Luck. My new Jets QB prediction? Chad Henne. LOL.
You should be nervous that another ten years of irrelevance is right around the corner, if we don't get a franchise quarterback.
We should clean house unless we win out, or finish 10-6. I have seen enough. This whole regime is incompetent. From Ireland's neglect of certain positions and depth, to Sparano's ultra conservative BS coaching, to the lackluster enthusiasm, and level of play of his team. I would keep a select few of the players. The only keepers I have are: Long Pouncey D. Thomas B. Marshall D. Bess C. Gates V. Davis C. Wake R. Starks K. Langford S, Smith Performance Probation: Incognito Solai Fasano Bush Hartline Dansby Misi dump the rest..they are expendable.
BTW, the only time I would ACTIVELY root against the Dolphins this season, is if a loss GUARANTEED the #1 pick and Andrew Luck. I am just saying that losing doesn't bother me so much anymore, because each loss comes with a little sugar on top and a wink from the football gods. I was pissed off for about 60 seconds after we lost to the Jets..I then remembered.."oh..that's right.." and I let out a evil laugh.
