Can't play call. Can't catch. Can't throw. Can't run. Can't win. The only thing they can do is loss, and I'm fine with it. Enough is enough. 0-16, bring on the kid.

And if you don't take that into the equation when calling a play, you're a terrible play caller. The play doesn't exist in a vacuum. The best call isn't the one that has the highest chance to succeed on the chalkboard, it's the one that has the highest chance to succeed on the field and with the personell you have. Daboll telling Ireland to give him a better QB wasn't an option. Calling a play that didn't rely on a terrible QB making a throw on 3rd and inches when you're arguably in 4 down territory, is.

It would be a little cheap to say that reality proved otherwise, but it kinda did. Sure, I can't actually prove that two runs/QB sneaks would have produced a first down, but going by Moore's performance and Thomas' performance, I'm confident to say that I'd put my money on Thomas every day.

Personally, I don't like the execution argument because expected execution is part of the decision making to begin with. Can you rely on Matt Moore to find the open guy on that play in that situation? I would say, no, you cannot. You can certainly argue that he should have - but a decision based on what someone else should do and a decision based on what someone else can be expected to do are two different things alltogether. In my mind, calling plays falls into the latter category. The first one is great on chalkboards, tho ;)
