Look at one of those names on that list again. I'll give you a hint. He was a FA and he has won a SB on his new team.

One FA in how many over the past 10 years? Yea I thought so. And you forgot to mention the only reason he was available in the 1st place is because he had a shoulder injury and was replaced by a top 5 pick. Drew Brees wasn't the franchise QB of the Chargers, he was expendable. Let me know if there's another Drew Brees type talent available in FA this year, or the year before that, or the year before that, or the year before that, or the year before that, or the year before that, or the year before that, or the year before that, or the year before that, or the year before that, or the year before that.

Looking in FA, in trades, and in later rounds for QB's is why we suck now, have sucked for the past decade, and will continue to suck until we do what we haven't done since 1983.

Honestly I can see Henne going to a place like New England, New Orleans, or one of the powerhouses and taking the place of their QB when Brady or Brees retire and doing extremely well.

If the dude gets a capable coach he WILL do a good job.

You guys can all laugh all you want, but he will tear it up somewhere else. Make no doubt about it. It won't ever be here because the Dolphins are a **** excuse for a team.

So in 5 or 6 years when Brees or Brady retire we'll finally get to see the real Henne?

Doubt anyone will care by then.

Disagree about the phins, but do agree about Henne, I suspect if he leaves Miami he becomes a solid low cost option for the teams you named, Giants also come to mind, he would be doing the same things there that he did here but with a more set lineup.

I'd love to see what Gruden could do with Henne. I'd really like to see what John Shoop could do with Henne

Matt Flynn is the QB I find most intriguing. Word is that he looked better than Rodgers in TC which is saying something. Of course, TC is one thing and games are another. Flyinn definitely looked the part in his one career start against NE last year. Sitting on the bench learning behind Rodgers to develop just like Rodgers got to do with Favre. Depends on asking price and only if Luck or Jones not drafted. Sure hope Miami doesn't draft Barkley as the "franchise" QB...sure hasn't lived up to his potential coming into college.

After the Giants defeated the undefeated Patriot in Super Bowl 42, I told my friend that the Dolphins will go to the playoffs next season. He said I was absolutely crazy. Guess I wasn't...

I agree. I watched the 'game' last night. I was decidedly underwhelmed with Barkley. If we cannot get Luck, I would prefer Jones to anyone else right now. I was impressed with him at the Texas game.

^ And this is the final phase of the QB life cyle on ThePhins.com

Phase 1. Despise the new QB because he's threatening the job of the old QB you love.

Phase 2. Accept the new QB.

Phase 3. Blindly love the new QB.

Phase 4. Defend and make excuses for the QB.

    Phase 5. Denial.

Phase 6. Acceptance of the fact that the QB sucks. But with the caveat he'll be awesome for some other team, because it's still the coaches' fault and surrounding casts' fault.

    Phase 7. Repeat

Someday I'll publish a study on this.

Brees drafted by SD, Steve Young drafted by TB, Favre drafted by Atlanta, Warner undrafted, Marino 6th QB taken in draft...Brady drafted in round 6, Favre drafted in Round 2, Brees drafted in round 2, Montana drafted in round 3.

13 of the past 24 starters in the SB were not drafted in the 1st round.

I am not saying franchise QBs can't be found in round 1, they can, but there are plenty of examples where other alternatives have worked.

It appears the mentality of some of the posters is that just by drafting a QB in round 1 we have our "franchise" QB. Reality is more teams have failed than succeeded if success is measured by being able to consistently lead a team to the playoffs during career, get to a couple of Pro Bowls and get to even "one" Super Bowl let alone win it.

I think it is safe to say the top 4 QBs who stand out above all others are Rodgers, Brady, Manning and Brees. Only 2 drafted in round 1 and Rodgers dropped like a hot potato in the draft. The Packers had the "luxury" to draft him since they had a solid team in place.

You couldnt pay me to pick up any of those guys to be honest. I rather get yet another rookie and yet again take my chances but this time hopefully with a coach that know what the **** he's doing.
