It's always funny, when folks show up out of the woodwork when a team they hate is eliminated. Some seem to hate one team, more then they actually love the one they claim to root for. Hahahaha - I wouldn't begin to know what that feels like. The word bandwagon does apply it seems - I can see it here.

Especially when one cant even tell which team another poster actually roots for, its as if they logically disagree with a stance taken, they must be a fan of the team you hate. Classic.

Welcome to the thread its clearly been waiting for you.

Nappy is a TB fan. And FinYank, while he claims the Yanks, he does love Sox too:lol:

This post just makes me laugh........I hope you enjoy Octoberfest, because you are clearly hitting your stride here....

See if you actually showed up to the baseball threads say even a 4 days ago, you would realize how incredibly dumb you sound. Nappy isnt a Sox fan you boob, he likes Tampa Bay....which has one of the least bandwagon fanbase in America.

You live in Germany, I would bet you wear pink Red Sox caps, sing Sweet Caroline faithfully, and may even try to talk without pronouncing the letter "R", so show you have been down since Day 1....truth is your a troll, so just quit, because you aren't doing anything but coming off as foolish.... I offer you the following quote......

Please, the Red Sox fanbase is full of flakes. Not all of them of course, but each Boston team seems to have a good share.

That was one heck of a finish to the Brewers and Dbacks, base hit in the bottom of the 10th to win it.

    I love playoff baseball.

a 1 run lead against the phillies offense in the 6th inning?

Cards have to plate one more run at least.

Catcher threw him out on a curve ball, and Carpenter was paying Utley no attention.

9 3 hit shutout innings in a gm #5 to clinch an advance to the NLCS..

Serves the phillies right for screwing over the Braves, they could have had the DBacks...

Do hope Ryan Howard is alright though, that looked bad.

    Tigers v Rangers

    Cards v Brewers

    Who you got?

Interesting that the Cards and Brewers may lose their all world first basemen to FA./

And I'm sure BSPN will whine about TV ratings...when did that become fans' problem?

Brewers-Rangers which is who I thought before post season started. Didn't want to state because of rays however. I've liked these two teams for a while to go. Them and the phillies were the most complete teams in it. STL just played so well, tip my cap to them for sure. But I think their magic runs out in a 7 game series.

Cards/Brewers should be great....I think it goes 7, with the Cards winning the pennant in Milwaukee.

Texas/Detroit is kind of meh to me. If I had to pick, I think Texas wins in 5 or 6. I have a feeling Detroit pitchers not named Verlander will struggle pitching in Texas.

Great to see the Phillies exit so early. 'Greatest rotation ever' can't even get them through the NLDS. Hopefully the Brewers win the NLCS.

Wait wait wait, guys I thought teams bought the WS. The top 2 teams in payroll didn't make it past the 1st round and the 3 thru 9 highest didn't even make the playoffs.

Those comment made by fans about the ratings always crack me up. You're right, why should fans care about the ratings? It's not like they're making or losing money because of who's still in.

Once again why the playoffs are a complete crapshoot. The Phillies and Yankees were the two best teams in the NL/AL and now they're at home.

I tell you what, if any of my sports franchises I root for, ever get the moniker of "DREAM TEAM" I will take than season off....LOL. That is a death blow label.

That's always has been a bogus label, but its an easy label in our society to always claim the RICH have an advantage or a guarantee, etc (big market vs small market, etc)....and miss-applied to Sports its as if its the magic ticket. The action on the field is all that matters.

AL EAST was blown up - GREATEST DIVISION IN BASEBALL....blah, blah, blah.

A small part of me was rooting for Dbacks to have the NL WEST (Worst division label) win back to back WS.

The Phillies cruised through the NL all season long and really they even dominated in their interleague games. I'm not sure what happened to those guys. They definitely didn't get the offense they needed in the postseason. I think they should have put more effort into winning that four game series in mid september against the Cards knowing they could potentially face them this month. There's something to be said for trying to kill a team's momentum. Instead they let the Cards continue to build momentum in September and steamroll into October. This is their reward I guess.

    Their offense blows.

Now watch them give a big bag of cash to Rollins in the offseason (I believe he's a FA).

I hope so, he'll spend half the season on the DL as usual. There's no big fix for their offense this offseason. They can't replace all of their old players by February.

Not so, what high payrolls do accomplish is playoff appearances, not neccessarily WS titles, they still have to win the games, this is one of the reasons why I gone on about it.

A guess, but I'd think the Tigers and Rangers are top 20 in payroll, Brewers and Cards should be in there as well.

Both signed players to mega contracts (Braun(?) and Holliday) that most of MLB could not afford.

As for the ratings, exactly, and to me these playoffs were excellent baseball, 4 elimination game 5's?

Brewers win in the bottom of the 9th? Phillies and Yankees both could have won in the bottom of the 9th, that is outstanding baseball!

Yankees had the best record in the AL, playing in the best division in baseball, had the best run differential in baseball by over 30. Yeah their rotation was questionable but they were the best team in the AL. Who do you think had a better overall team?

Eh I don't know about that 4 game series in the September really mattered nor do I believe that momentum mattered much either as there had be numerous examples of teams barely making the playoffs or playing bad in September end up winning the WS and vice versa. The problem with the playoffs, especially a 5 game series, is that anything can happen. A team whether it be the offense or pitching can go flat for a few games and then find themselves eliminated. It wasn't like they got destroyed in the playoffs, they lost an elimination game to a very good pitcher. It happens.

Not sure how you can say high payrolls accomplish playoff appearances when only 3 teams in the top 10 (Yankees at 1, Phillies at 2 and Tigers at 10) made the playoffs. Out of the other 5 teams: Cardinals were 12, Rangers at 13, Brewers at 16, DBacks at 25 and Tampa at 29.

Out of the 10 top teams payroll wise in baseball only the Red Sox at 3, Angels at 4, & Giants at 8 had winning records. So 4 of the top 10 teams didn't even play .500 baseball. And the Twins at #9 had the 2nd worst record in baseball.

Having money gives teams an advantage sure but it doesn't guarantee anything.

Dbacks and Rays are also sitting at home already.

Which means: Tigers (10th) Rangers (13th) Brewers (16th) Cards (12th) are left.

And do note, teams with high payrolls consistently make the playoffs, teams without rarely go back to back yrs to the playoffs, let alone advance.

Look over the last 5 yrs, the DBacks made it this yr, next yr? Ditto the Rays, and it took an epic collapse by the Sox and Braves to get the Cards and Rays into the dance.

So you're saying the reason why the DBacks and Rays are sitting at home is because the Brewers and Rangers spend more? If so how do you explain why the Yankees and Phillies are sitting at home? Or the 9 other teams with higher payrolls than the Tigers?

Teams with high payrolls consistently make the playoffs? The Red Sox haven't made the playoffs since 2009. The Mets when was their last time 2006? The Cubs haven't made the playoffs for a few years now. Ditto for the Angels and Dodgers. Have the White Sox gone to back to back playoffs since the 90s.

The thing about baseball is even though they don't have a salary cap there is plenty of parody. There hasn't been back to back WS champions since 1999-2000. Almost every MLB team but the Pirates, Orioles, Blue Jays and Royals have made the playoffs since 2000.

You really don't have any argument here, there are too many things people can pick apart.

Again the playoffs are a complete crap shoot, anyone can win if they get in.

It's entirely possible that Texas does have a better more balanced team. But you can't discount the record, etc that the Yankees put up in the AL East compared to the AL West.
