Becuase once we get Luck we hopefully won't have to worry about it again for a very long time.

I'd rather not want to be in the same company as the Detroit fcking Lions and their terrible franchise.

I don't get too excited about anything with this team anymore.

If we did get the #1 overall pick, I bet Ireland would not get fired... And he'll trade down, passing on Luck to collect more picks.

That's the sort of mind-numbing **** they're liable to do, so don't get your hopes up too high even if we finish dead last.

after all, the only way this organization will win a game is with a Hall of Fame QB, so if Luck gets injured, you're gonna need another #1 QB pick backing him up. This means we'd probably have to try and suck with Luck for a year, too.

Seriously. I didn't realize there's an NFL rule that states if you draft a QB with a top 5 pick, you're forced to give up all draft picks for the next 10 years, and are banned from making moves in free agency. Building a team is not allowed in the NFL if you draft a franchise QB...

No, what it really is, is homerism of epic proportions. That if you put a hall of famer at every single position but QB, Henne will succeed. A bunch of BS is what it is. If you're excuse is that Henne needs the greatest team ever around him to be successful, you need to wake up and smell the coffee, we need a new QB.

Total BS and non-sense, my future sundays have just as many super bowl contention "ideals" about them....you dont need to go 0-16 and pretend it guarantees you them.

Sucking for Luck is far better than another year of sucking with Henne as the QB of the Dolphins. I am willing to take my chances on Luck being the next great NFL, QB than I am on Henne ever being an AVERAGE QB in the NFL.

Indeed. What's the point going 5-11 or 6-10? Let's get us a franchise tag QB.

If the next closest team is 2-14, I'm rooting for 1-15 with a win over the Jets. Barkley is very good, but not on Lucks level, or really even that close to it. Jones is miles from Luck's level. Matt Moore shouldn't even be in the discussion. He's somewhere between Chad Pennington and Greg McElroy as a prospect, not a franchise QB. RG3 is exciting to watch, but nothing more than a developmental project at this point. Needs to stay for his senior year.

If 1-15 gets Luck, then so be it. Same for 2-12, 3-13 or whatever. If the season is going to be a failure, I'd rather it be a 1-15 #1 pick type failure than a 6-10 miss out on elite QB prospects type failure.

Yup, you're probably right. Brady, Manning, and Brees will likely be retired over the next 4 years so the ONLY contending teams for the next 10-15 years will be Rodgers' Packers and whomever drafts Luck. :shifty:

You still have Stafford.... but---- he's in the NFC.
    Bradford's in the NFC.
Here's a thought---- what if Luck lands in the NFC?

What elite QB is left to rule the AFC without Brady & Manning around? Rivers the choke artist? Roethlisberger? He's not in the class of Brady & Manning.

Most likely won't win a Super Bowl unless you have a top-5 QB.

But there are plenty of ways to get that elite QB aside from the #1 pick.

Why on earth do all of you contiually bring up the Lions?
    They've sucked for decades.
Yes they finally hit on some picks and have built a solid team but it didn't happen overnight.

They were continually in the top of drafts for decades and FAILED to get better.
They are hardly the argument to use to support your thesis of having the number 1 pick in the draft be the ONLY way to become a championship team.

If most of the top 5 QBs are in the NFC in the next 4 or 5 years, then it could make it easier to reach the SB in the AFC on the back of a great defense.

You have Rodgers plus the last 3 #1 draft pick QBs in the NFC...... and Ryan & Freeman.

We do know that Luck does not have to come out in this draft right? And he has said he wants to stay in school.

So if we do this so called suck for Luck, we could be out of Luck!

Don't think people should fight and argue about "Suck for Luck" or not.

There's the one side who are numb to these Dolphins losses and mistakes we've been seeing since 2004. They see not just Luck (or another one of the Top QB prospects), but a new regime and more high draft picks in round 2 and beyond, which might fix this team, and bring back the Dolphins to being a top franchise in 2012 and beyond.

Then the other side who hate the idea. They want Henne to bounce back and see the team go from 0-4 to 8-8 or better, giving hope that they may have woken up.

Either way both sides want to see the Dolphins improve for 2012. Nobody on this message board is a bad fan, or we wouldn't be here.

And we'll know in January. Either the Dolphins bounce back and show fight, getting to 8-8 or 9-7. Or they continue to suck, go 3-13 and get a Top 5 draft pick and new regime. Either way they can have hope for the future. It's all obviously out of our control anyway, we just watch the games.

These players and coaching staff do not have to suck for Luck. They are doing a fine job of sucking for themselves. Luck, if he comes out, will be a fringe benefit. I hope this satisfies the more principled among us.

Want another 3 years of mediocrity or worse with nothing to look forward to? Not me, I've already seen the Wannstedt, Saban, Cameron, and the "New Regime" years.

Totally agree that we need safety help something fierce, however... IF they dont draft a RT in the 2nd round my head is going to explode... for that matter wouldnt mind seeing a RG in the 3rd as well and bringing in an established safety via FA.

The Reggie Bush part was incredible, funny **** sir!

The problem I see with a lot of the posts here is that people are focusing on what can go WRONG with picking Luck first overall. You know what, maybe be is Russel or Leaf 2.0. You know what happens then? You try again. Both the Raiders and the Chargers are better than us, more relevant than us, and they have suffered disaster at that position. Does missing on QB hurt? Hell yes it does! Do you need to stick it out with a ****ty pick for 5 years now with the salary cap? No, you dump em and try again.

The question SHOULD be what happens if we pick Luck and he actually fulfills the hype? What if he is Elway and Manning incarnate? What then? That isn't worth taking a shot on? Is it necessary to argue against that?

YOU CANNOT SUCCEED WITHOUT SOME MEASURE OF RISK! Suck it up (no pun intended, honestly) and take your shot at greatness.

As for "Suck for Luck" - it doesn't matter if most of the fan base wants to lose. We don't set foot on the field, we are just hoping that what looks like a bad season will result in something positive happening.

I think were in for back to back really poor seasons I'm not sold well be the worst team this year though so I don't think well get luck unless they lose on purpose. I still take a qb 1st round and a safety 2nd round though or even trade up into the 1st round if there is some amazing prospect safety this year.

    I agree.

The ironic thing is---- some of the same fans complaining about the lockout and a shortened season are now campaigning to ditch the entire season for a QB we're not guaranteed to get and who isn't even guaranteed to come out.

Didn't read the thread but no. No way. 1-15 is fine. And I don't even wish for that. If we sucked and got Luck, I'd be happy we got luck, but not that we suck. I never root for a loss. Ever.

If Stanford doesn't win a National Championship, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Luck return for another shot at it.

If I knew I had a legitimate shot at winning a Championship on a team that I love playing for, I'd probably stay for another year, especially with reduced rookie contracts........ and it's not his family appears desperate for money.
