This I'm fine with. As a fan I just can't root for my team to lose even knowing they need a franchise QB.

Is it as ridiculous as the loser mentality to suck for luck with 12 games left in a season?

"average defense" is quite a stretch. Want to blame anybody, blame the ones making the decisions. They're the ones who couldn't draft defensive players for ****.

Truth......i mean the colts have had to go over a decade of shame and embarrassment after that horrific season in which they had to pick first. Dont even mention the Lions who are completely embarrassed and ashamed today that they had to subject their fans to the number one pick a couple of years ago.

That's idealism... it's a shackle for the brain.

If your team can go 1-15 and draft at #1, or go 5-11 or 6-10 and draft much much lower, wouldn't you rather they just lose those 4-5 extra games? They are meaningless. Longterm success is more important.

Not at all, but i'd rather have Luck ten fold over any other qb prospect coming out

Yes, but there are varying degrees of sucking, and consequences for them.

I don't really care about "hope", I care about the reality of a situation. We don't know that Luck is good enough to be worth what people are hoping for.

They're now half a decade away from drafting Russell. "Utterly destroy" might be overboard, but it's about as severe an effect that one single decision can have on a franchise for what is a long term in the NFL.

I'm talking about the shame and embarrassment of purposefully losing a season for the hopes that a guy you don't have will turn your entire organization around.

Because the Dolphins wins and losses rest on the whims of fan desires to win or lose that particular game.

I don't think you understand our mentality. This team sucks. We know they suck. So, I want them to land the #1 pick instead of win 5 or 6 games and draft much lower.

The fact of the matter is, it's much, much, much, much, much harder to find a franchise QB than it is to find good players at any other position. If you're in a position to take a franchise QB, you take him and build around him, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. There's always plenty of players selected in the 2nd-7th rounds that pan out. Very, very, very rarely are those players Quarterbacks. There are always good to very good players available in free agency every year, none of them are ever franchise QB's.

Well the general consensus is that Luck is a sure-fire not miss prospect, but then again so was Ryan Leaf. And Alex Smith was a better prospect than Aaron Rodgers. The list goes on and on...Is it worth the pain of sitting thru that poor of a season and then the chance that Luck would be another Smith or Leaf ?? I don't know...I'd say do what we have to do to win and see how things come out...There certainly are other pieces to this puzzle that don't fit right besides QB....

I would not let any man do that. I'll live my life with whatever I continue to earn on my own abilities. I wouldn't be able to live with myself otherwise. The softest, most expensive bed in the world won't comfort you of nightmares when you think back on what you did.

I derailed the **** out of this thread, but I think the general consensus here is that we'd all do unspeakable things to get a franchise QB. Some of us more than others...

Larryfin, the difference between Luck and the others is that Luck is universally heralded as the best pro prospect since John Elway. Might he bust? Of course, but he's not being evaluated similarly to Ryan Leaf or Alex Smith. While those guys were evaluated as one of the bests of their draft class, Luck is being touted UNIVERSALLY as a once-in-a-generation QB prospect. There is a difference.

I think you misinterpret some of the fans tongue and cheekness. I dont think anyone really believes that the team is gonna start throwing games right now but there is hope that we do wind up with the worst record to get Luck. Me hoping they lose for what i believe is for the betterment of this team in the future deosnt mean i would actually give an credence to think they are going to start call plays to intentionally lose any games.

Its just fans having something to hope for this season.

As opposed to what? Going 5-11 or 6-10, and having just as much of a failed season, only without the hope that 0-16 provides? It's a no brainer that anyone who is a fan of the Miami Dolphins would take the 0-16 season.

I guess thats where we differ. You are more interested in meaningless wins which will make you enjoy your sunday a little more. Im hoping this team is better in the future and i believe landing Luck would set us on the right path for years to come. I can deal with the "shame and embarrassment" of being a fan of a terrible team for a year if it is in the best interest of this team going forward

Is this 0-16 "wish" only for Luck?

what about Jones, Barkley, Moore, Griffin??

If the next closest team is 2-14, you still "rooting" for 0-16?

I'd kill a Jets fan and/or a hooker to get Andrew Luck.
They dont count as people so there is no guilt.
    Its win-win.

I'd rather see this decently talented team turn it around and go 8-8 and start playing at a level it's capable of than be a complete mess of an underachiever finishing a terrible 0-16...... because the time it would take to rebuild an entire wrecked 0-16 organization might possibly be longer than the time needed to make the current team we have a contender.

I'll never root for my team to reach the ultimate level of ineptness.
It's a mark of shame that never goes away.

If you guys think Luck is such a lock to be the next great NFL QB then root for 1-15.
    That should do it.

:sidelol: This coming from a guy wanting to suck for Luck with the hope it might make your future Sundays more enjoyable. How hypocritical.

The only difference between your mentality and mine is---- I'm not a fair weather fan. There is no meaningless win. A win is a win, and if it's by Miami, I'll enjoy it. LOL at the thought of you getting mad after we win a game b/c that win might prevent us from landing Luck. I think that contradicts the definition of "fan".
