there is a silver lining: 1) three games does not a season make. If we run the the board & this happens & that happens, well might not be so bad. 2) Henne has proven he can manage a game, even without an offensive line 3) with each game we lose, the closer we get to Luck in the draft & getting rid of Fony Sparano 4) if our losses continue to accumulate, we can experiment more with the play book & promising rookies 5) think how happy we will be when we finally turn it around & become a viable & consistent contender if the Detroit Lions turned the corner, we can do it too!
my personal favorite is #3 with each game we lose, the closer we get to Luck in the draft & getting rid of Fony Sparano
Yeah, I mean if they beat the Chargers, it gives a sliver of hope since you have 5 division games remaining. Slim, but hope, and at least an exciting MNF game vs NYJ, especially if they lose to the Ravens. If they lose to SD then it's all pretty much over, not coming back from an 0-4 hole with all the losses to AFC teams, so you're leading the Luck Bowl.
And for good reason. I'm there on that same boat. But at the same time, I also realize that sporadic wins here and there with a regime that is not going to withstand the season, does nothing for the long term future of the franchise. It really is a tough fence to ride this one is...
Really? The nerve of some people. Dolphins fan who actually don't like to see the team lose...what's this world coming to?
game 4 in the NFL is like round 6 in a major boxing match the feeling out process is over, a few damaging shots have been delivered & you will see the real fight emerge having said that knowing full well the importance of a win, Miami could pull it off the question you have to ask yourself: is it better to win half your games, lose Luck in the draft & give Fony Sparano a new excuse to coach? hard question to answer for fans thirsty for SuperBowl or @ least 4 a reason to show up for a game on Sunday to answer sometimes you're just out-classed, not ready to fight: you may need reinforcements, new weapons, higher ground or better leadership so you tactically retreat positioning yourself to win the war, losing some battles simply put, this is a time to of lowered expectations however it could usher in a time of great expectation in 2012 my country grandmother used to say: "can't make a silk purse out of a sow's (pig) ear." priceless observation unfortunate reality: we can win game four but we just don't have the material to make a silk purse out of this team this is a The End.
Jesus H Christ....is this going to be a thread every week??? Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck... God I get so sick and tired of hearing about Andrew Luck. What in the hell makes you guys think Andrew Luck won't be another Joey Harrington, huh? Harrington was a Heisman Trophy winner and poor Detroit fans thought he was their savior.
A-FREAKING-MEN!!!!! Luck could be TRASH. These know-it-alls don't even REMEMBER Ryan Leaf! Suppose if Luck hooks up with a little hottie at Stanford and the power of the vajayjay keeps him in school another year??? It could happen.
about this & that: 1) Friend Dark_Knight how about Henne/Sparano, Henne/Sparano, Henne/Sparano, Henne/Sparano, Henne/Sparano, Henne/Sparano, Henne/Sparano, Henne/Sparano, Henne/Sparano, Henne/Sparano, Henne/Sparano, Henne/Sparano, Henne/Sparano, not sick & tired of hearing that yet? Anybody heard the word SuperBowl lately? Einstein on insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results... think about it. 2) Fellow Member HenneNator what if a meteor the size of Kansas struck the earth tomorrow? not to worry, it probably won't happen. having said that all we have is probability, there are no certainties in life. the good news is that Luck definitely has NFL probability working in his favor
Won't defend Hennenator because I haven't followed his posts, but obviously you've not followed mine. You copy catted me with your copied/pasted "Henne/Sparano" post simply to try and be like me, but the difference though is I don't have a raging hard on for Henne nor Sparano. In fact, if you take the time to read some of my posts, you'll see I have anything but a hard on for Sparano. As for Henne, I still think he can be a good QB in the NFL. A Marino, Kelly or Elway? Of course not, but then again, I can name several quarterbacks with championship rings that were average quarterbacks...Mark Rypen, Jim Plunkett, Bob Griese just to name a few. I know of two PHENOMINAL quarterbacks that dn't have a ring, Marino and Kelly. Your man crush on Andrew Luck is blinding you to the fact that football is a team sport, not a baseball game in which the pitcher (QB) does all the work one on one against a batter. Our team's needs go far beyond a superstar quarterback.
Friend Dark_Knight: 1) take it as a compliment to your ingenuity & creativity in posting. imitation is the purest form of flattery. It was not my intent to ridicule or antagonize. I was simply trying to make my point as well as you made your point. 2) I follow your posts as you post & I am available on line to read them, which is less & less these days due to my declining interest in watching another season butchered by incompetence & mediocrity. Know, however, that I respect & read your posts. You are a friend. 3) since the "die was cast" & Henne elected starter I have supported his effort & posted a number of times he has exceeded my expectations, managing the game well, despite the offensive line. If the team were playing collectively @ a superior level, I believe we could have a respectable season. Unfortunately, you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear & time is running out. Where to find the Silk or maybe we just need the right PurseMaker to fashion the material correctly? Ask Sparano? 4) speaking of Sparano, I like him as a personality, apparently very affable but he is the first thing wrong with the team. He is not smart enough to be a Head Coach in the NFL. Fony Sparano simply has to go away. I wish him well & hope he finds a job in which he can excel. 5) Should be obvious to everyone, unless they have a man-crush on our current QB, we need a franchise caliber QB along with a new head coach to compete & prosper in the NFL. Andrew Luck will probably, unless struck dead by lightning, be the top prospect in the next draft. hope you enjoy the season, better yet, hope we all find something to enjoy this season game four coming up!
Now go look at how long it took the Lions to 'turn the corner' and how many top draft picks were involved. If this needs to be blown up and we start over with new leadership, there is no particular reason to believe it's a one year effort. 10 years without a winning season in Detroit.
Friend MrClean: SOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT: meaningless banter argumentation is incremental to losing boring, very boring Luck, Phuck, whoever might fill the role of Franchise QB the obvious is for those who see love is blind what does it really matter? have a nice day, I've wasted too much time already on this nonsense
OK since 1990, here are the QBs taken first overall: Jeff George Drew Bledsoe (much he needed a transfusion) Peyton Manning Tim Couch Mike Vick David Carr Carson Palmer Eli Manning Alex Smith Jamarcus Russell Matt Stafford Sam Bradford Cam Newton OK 13 QBs. 4 reached the Superbowl (I think George did in 95) and only 2 won a SB. That's 15% of the QBs taken overall who won a SB since 1990. The odds are TERRIBLE. Luck is no guarantee at all. He could be another Tim Couch.

Friend Xiidaen: yes, it is true & certainly should be mentioned in the final food for thought. you have my last post on the subject.
There was a huge campaign for him to win it, Seems like even a giant billboard in NYC for a while. Maybe from Nike?
I am ready to go all in and take a chance on a franchise qb.That is how you have to start the rebuilding process draft a qb high and build around him. There is never a sure thing at any postion but the bottomline the plan we had in place for the last 4 years is not working. This team sucks and like you i have been suffering for a long time and want a winner.I was hoping this team would turn the corner this year but it was just a hope.I really thought we would be a third place team but now even the bills have surpassed us.I see no point in winning 6 or 7 games this year.If we keep doing that we will be stuck as a 3rd or 4th place team every year and i am sick of that.Sometimes you need to take a step back to take 2 steps forward. If we have a top 5 pick we can't take a freaking rb or a lineman we to go all in and take a chance on the qb.
it makes no sense to blow up the team. what we need is one killer offseason. we have plenty of young pieces and we just need to add a few playmakers.
How futile it will all seem when we do bust the season, Luck does declare for the draft, and we pick a lineman.
