Oh boy, Misi has been mostly quiet this season, Dtrain has been a beast. I'd guess: JT/Trusnik fills in at SOLB Bush and Hilliard and maybe Slaton at running back? But Slaton has not been here long enough for Sparano's tastes, to me I'd toss him out on the field to see what he can do and dispense with the "he has to do well in practice" crap
If Thomas can't play then we have a serious problem. Our best shot was to run right at the injured SD d-line and keep rivers off the field. Any word yet on SD injuries? I know it's early there still. If V-JAx practices, even if limited I imagine he's good to go. Same deal with Floyd and Matthews
After missing and/or being limited for all three days of practice this week I do not expect Daniel Thomas will play in this one. Rookie tailbacks are not known for staying healthy when leaned on to handle a workload. It's one of the things I kept listing as drawback to having to rely on a rookie at that position. You're just going to have to live with him not being healthy enough to play against New England, and not being healthy enough three weeks later to play against San Diego...and it'll probably happen a few more times this season. As I recall, Ricky Williams kept getting banged up his first year in the league, lots of little lingering things. I'm not sure what this does to our chances against the Chargers though. If we're relying on Reggie Bush a lot more and opening things up more against their banged up secondary, we could score some points. Henne could have a decent outing. I could also see him throwing a pick-6 to Eric Weddle as a result.
To me, this is the best chance so far this season to see what sort of Coaching job Sparano does, if Clay, or Hilliard or Slaton step in and we do not miss a beat, then great, if he truly thinks Reggie Bush is the answer alone, and Bush does not have a super game. Consider it one more nail in Sparano's coffin, it is to me anyway, it's all fine to have a system, when events happen you cannot then allow that system to produce an inferior result.
We will be fortunate to score ten points if DT cant go. There will be no balance to our offense. We havent figured out how to use Bush in the passing game yet. This wont be pretty. And Trusnik filling in at OLB will be hilarious. He sucked in preseason. SUCKED. Soft edge vs run and couldnt disengage on the pass rush. Why not put IAF out there instead???
OK.....STOP IT... STOP IT NOW. To many of your predictions have come true this season....so from here on out...the only predictions you can make are positive ones. You need to go knock on wood for your pick six one so we can wipe that off the slate...otherwise its bound to rear its ugly head on Sunday
That is a good point, why not deactivate Koa and activate IAF if Koa is that badly nicked? Bloggers seem to think the DNP's were precautionary, but I cannot recall a guy playing on Sunday if they missed Friday practices.
It is and I agree with Stringer but it also might be a little misleading, same as if you were to look at the Dolphins' total defensive stats without accounting for the freight train that is the New England passing attack running through our station. Against QBs not named Tom Brady we're talking more like an 80.6 QB Rating...24 of 39 passing for 215 yards (5.5 YPA), 3 TDs and 2 INTs. Accounting for sacks, that's 4.7 net yards per pass play.
It starts a 18 game win streak, obviously. Move over Redskins, the Dolphins are going all the way this year.
They held McNabb to 39 yards, and Cassell didn;t do much either. Brady skews everything. but they are beat up all over the place.
Whoa man. Am I really reading people questioning what good would come from watching their team win? Cool fans Miami.
'cept for you know the initial analysis of the pick, his immediate contributions, and well anything of importance regarding Daniel Thomas. This has nothing to do with a rookie going through the rigors of an NFL season. He initially hurt his hamstring before the season started. That's not a rookie thing. Its a hurt your hamstring thing.
I liked Mike Pouncey as an even better Center prospect than his brother Maurkice. However I questioned the wisdom of spending #15 overall pick on a Center, with all the gaping holes on the team and it's total non-viability for the 2011 season. The Colts lose Peyton Manning and they're absolute crap right now. And that's even with All Pro Center Jeff Saturday manning the swing position. At some point I think it's OK to question things like "impact" even if a guy becomes a good player.
Well, shoot, Sparano has to earn his pay now as he may not like Lexxy, but he will have to use him. Just put WA in at WCB over Nolan Carrol....
Also per Clayton's twitter, Gates out, V-Jax, floyd and Matthews all a go. Nothing about Misi yet thatI've seen, but I sort of doubt he plays, even if he travelled.
Well if the report says that Daniel Thomas and Vontae Davis were not on the flight to San Diego, there's reason to assume that Koa Misi probably was, which means he might play. That changes things a little. Dolphins players are going to have to earn their pay checks if they want to win this game.
Misi will probably be listed as questionable, but his injury cropped up late, so who knows? I don;t see where we generate a running game this week.
We won't. They're going to have to go full spread, like against New England, make a full commitment to it rather than just dipping your toe in the water.
I don't want to see a loss, but a Miami loss and a Chiefs win wouldn't completely upset me ither. Pointless wins during the season when you have a lameduck everything does nothing for the future of the franchise. I'm just hoping with the trade deadline looming soon they keep all their cards in the deck. Although, we get to 0-5 or whatever a Chris Chambers ala deal wouldn't surprise me. No Lamar Gordon deals. Ride it out.
Funny thing is, it was 2 years ago in San Diego where things really started to go downhill for this regime. That was the game where Pennington got injured and Henne took over. This time, it may be the end of Sparano.*
CK I know you have been harping on this, but to be fair DT's injury originated before he even took a snap during a regular season game. You may or may not be correct about that theory (and I'd probably lean towards you being right)... but I do not think you can put this in that category. This hasnt been from "being leaned on to carry the workload."
i admit confusion regarding thomas. in 4 weeks he is either too injured to play or plays and busts 100 yards. i dont recall seeing him limp or anything during games unless i missed something
Anybody think that part of the reason why Misi often struggles is that they flip Wake and him quite often. Misi never was a guy that was expected to get pressure against LT for example, the same with Jason Taylor.
