The Phins O is better than last year, and they are adapting to a new OC with limited practice time. However, 9 of 13 players are not playing up to their talent. Considering Columbo, I may have to make that 8 of 13. A closer look.

OL- Pouncey is ranked at # 5, and doing a VG job. Carey is at #51, is adapting and questionable. Cog is at #65, has been disappointing, as he has played much better. Jerry is at #29 in limited play, and "may" be better than I thought. Long is at # 41. Hard to believe but, he has not been close to himself. Columbo is at # 68, and is likely over-rated.

Receivers- Marshall is # 17, a lot of good and bad here. Hartline is #19, and has been VG. Bess is #82, and has been disappointing. Fasano is # 34, and also disappointing.

RBs- DT is #22, and looks to be an answer. Bush is #53 of 53, and looks to be a question.

QB- Henne is at #5. I think that is too high but, he has played well. He need to take one more step to convince me he is a legit answer for this team to contend.

IF this OL can come together, we could be very surprising to many.

I think you rely upon PFF numbers far too much for your certainty and if they have John Jerry at #29 and Henne at #5 in their respective positions, the owners of that site should be tarred and feathered.

Offense averaged 17.1 ppg last year, 17.7 ppg this year. Considering that scoring is higher league-wide, I'm not sure that we've improved offensively.

I agree on Henne, as I have said. IMO, when you compare payers by rank, it far more accurate that stats alone. Who else do you disagree with? I don't see any others.

I'm giving the new O the benefit of the doubt on scoring. We shall see.

They are definately wrong about Long and it's assisted by the fact that they (according to others) have charged 2 sacks versus the Browns to Long. Long's man did not sniff the QB versus the Browns.

Pouncey is doing a good job but 5?

And Bess..... I don't even know how they "rank" their stuff but the endzone pass to Bess (that was thrown 4 yards out of bounds) was and is the largest part of the Miami Dolphins issues in the redzone.

I don't want to review it all..... I just know what I see. I have reviewed the Dolphins offense versus the Browns game and PFF had it all wrong. If they follow this pattern with every team all year their numbers are skewed heavily. It's certainly not something someone should be relying upon...........or either they have their worst guy watching the Dolphins. Which is not out of the realm of possibility considering our relevance.

They don't grade overall team play. They grade individual players based on how well they do their job on each play. I know that's not palatable for some, and I would say that he's not the 5th best QB in the league, but come on man. Tarred and feathered because they disagree with you?

Well, to me, the next question is..who figures to improve from that list?

    I'd say:
Big Jake, not sure what his problems are, do think he is a much better player then he has shown so far this yr.
Cog, he has a long track record of good play
    Bess, ditto
    Fasano is misranked imo
Bush, he also has a long track record of playin well

Who does not figure to improve:

Colombo, a new yr, the same Colombo
Carey, could be the position switch just is not going to work
Marshall, he is what he is

Your saying that as if he's Ted Ginn Jr.

No, no....... Tarred and Feathered for the fact that ALL they do is numbers and they credited not one but two sacks to a player that had no sack.

Tarred and feathered because somehow John Jerry is not rated the WORST guard on the field this past Sunday.

The numbers that rank Chad Henne the number 5 quarterback, well...............those are just useless because anyone can see he's not a top 5 quarterback. Hell, he's not even a top 15 quarterback.

So my point is that their specialty is supposedly the numbers people do not NORMALLY count and they get those wrong. Then the numbers they count show a 15 to 20th best QB in the league to be top 5........something is wrong with what they do because those numbers lead someone like you to think:

Clearly that is not what they do.

I have been unable to watch the replay but, Jake did give up at least one sack. He is playing hurt, and not the same player.

Pouncey's grade is on the run. He has a way to go in pass protect.

I have watched that game three times (two times fast forwarding through defense) and not seen a sack given up by Long. I actually charted all six sacks in the "situational" thread upon the third viewing. So I'm not buying into the playing hurt, not the same player bit.

Pouncey's graded out great on the entire game - not just the run. Although with dumbass John Jerry beside him, there was no way Pouncey was giving up a sack. Jerry left Colombo high and dry more than a few times though.

A point to note, ESPN.com has him ranked 12th (Total QBR) although Total QBR and me are not the best of friends. and PFF has him ranked #5. That's two outlets, however credible or incredible they are, that disagree. I'd like to see the Zod.com rankings. If you would, post the 15+ other players who have objectively played better this season.

I would not know. I watch the games, read Miami media and read what people post here. I do not have time for much else because I'm too busy living life through October. I'll be a stat geek along with you when my season comes to a close in November. But I don't have long after that. I'll be preparing for next season shortly after the SuperBowl.

FWIW, PFF ranked him as #5 overall, including a high grade for running the ball. He ranked #9 in passing.

Well, I think, as you said, you can throw out Jerry's numbers for now...too little time. Carey and Colombo are problems that we simply haven't found a solution for yet. Long had a slow start and was beat up by the pasties. He'll come around. I'm a bit surprised at Marshall being that high. Problem is that he seems to disappear in crunch time. Ironically, Bess seems to pick it up during crunch time (RZ time). Bush does not surprise me at all and neither does Henne, although bolstered by a fantastic game against the pasties that goes unnoticed because we lost. The only thing with Henne is we need to see more of the good Henne in 2nd half, specifically in the 4th qtr. A big part of that is our lack of run game consistency. Some of that may also be the OC's doings with not calling runs as frequent in the RZ...

Hard to take any objective ratings seriously that have Tavarris Jackson ranked higher than Philip Rivers.

I see "Little Jimmy Wilson" telling reporters that he F'd up and cost the team a win. I see Bush, who is getting paid 10 times as much, telling reporters about practice habits, after fumbling twice and basically sucking so far this year.

I don't see Marshall having a comment on dropping TD passes, Carp having one on missed chipped shot FG's or, anyone else taking any blame.

Perhaps Wilson should be our next HC. He just may place the blame where it belongs.

Stat geek? I watch the entirety of at least two extra non-Dolphin games every week as well as NFL Red Zone all Sunday. I've seen some clunkers this year.
