I did a search and didn't come up with a thread like this so I thought I'd start one. Any of you guys into camping/hiking/fishing etc?
i really have a desire to get a small sailboat and learn how to use it, but i havent found the right one to buy locally. my wife and i will take walks at the parks and forests around here lol. im not a fisherman. i suck at it and im kind of a Nancy when it comes to baiting hooks, etc. lol
My family had a sailboat when my brothers were younger but it was pretty dilapidated by the time i grew up. What you could do if you can't buy one, is see if there are catamaran owners who will charter their boat out to you and let you take it on out on a trip.
thats a good idea. over here in Dunedin, they let you rent small ones, but you are on your own. thats fine, but i would like to learn a bit and have someone show me some stuff.
Well, it is Fall in the Mtns', which means the colors are beginning to change, the weather is in the 70's during the day and 40's at night. Quite beautiful really.
Ha, sounds like my older brother. Hates touching worms or fish but loves fishing. Love camping and fishing myself, as long as beer is invloved. I typically camp about 4days a month, in season. Always fish when I am camping, or if I get a few hours without kids or the wife. I fish for smallmouth or rock bass mainly. I love night fishing my local river for channel cat.
lol. i freely admit it. i sort of envy it to. what you described sounds awesome. with some exceptions, i think freshwater fish are much better eating than saltwater fish. bass is great. trout is my favorite i think
sounds great. its honestly so frigging hot here for so long. i dont spend any time outside for a good 6 months if it isnt the beach
Trout is really nice, only place you find big ones in this area is our River(wabash) which is highly polluted with farm runoff/waste so sadly you dont really want to eat it. Love bass, and fried catfish, nothing lke some right out of the lake.
Midnight catfishing, some adult beverages, and a camp fire, wonderful stuff. Wake up in the morning to breakfast..then chill...then more fishing... Hoo-Ray!
Love to camp (no RV), fish (freshwater), and hunt. Grew up in a bow hunting family, one of my hobbies used to be foraging for wild plants, building shelters, etc (I was a weird kid). I've had the fortune to travel and live around the country. I'm a New Englander by birth, but California is my favorite place to be.
Grouper is one of my favorite fish to eat. It is good however you cook it, but it is best fried. If you like fish and have never eaten grouper then I highly recommend you do. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
When I lived out in Portland and Seattle, i went hiking every weekend. loved every minute of it. Then I went to grad school in midwest, got a job, had kids....moved to Atlanta (too hot)...blah, blah, blah - translated to no more outdoor stuff. but now that I'm in New England area (beautiful in the fall) and my kids are starting to get older, we are starting to go outside again and loving it. Still haven't convinced my wife that camping is a good thing.

definitely recommend either: a) Hoh Rain Forest on the Olympic peninsula - 10 mile hike in to beautiful campgrounds under the world's biggest Douglas Fir trees right on the glacial river, near the bottom of Mt Olympus. did that one 3 times, easy hike in, relatively flat b) camping in Mt Baker Wilderness. Mt Rainier might be the tallest volcano in the Pacific Northwest, but Baker is the most beautiful one.
