If I were Ross right now, I'd keep the current regime on until the end. First, it's obvious by our talent level and the status of the AFCE that we aren't going anywhere this season, even with dumping TS mid-stream. Second, it's not like he's concerned about talking to other guys out there (naturally all the big names...Gruden, Cowher, Fisher jump out there), but they aren't going to take over mid season. I can't ever recall that happening... Third, if he dumps TS soon, it's likely to look bad on him because the players still like TS. Fourth, if he makes a move, it's an obvious call to the players [and fans] that the season is over. Fifth, he won't dump TS if there is a glimmer of hope that they can turn things around this year, even if it means no PO's. It gives him even more ammo to let TS go. The question is whether Irish goes along with him. Obviously, whoever takes over for TS will have a lot to do with that. One of the brand name guys won't want player personnel to be in someone else's hands. So, IF the new guy want's Irish to stay, then he'll have to take a hit in power to stay or leave. The bus hasn't started falling yet only two games into the season, but it's riding right along the edge of the mountain road and the footing is getting slippery...
The difference this time around versus with Cam-Cam, Saban or whoever is that this roster has some talent and the bulk of these guys will work elsewhere if the new regime dumps them because of perceived lack of motivation. In the past, you could not have said that about the roster as HCs were on their last legs here...
No, Ross threw the franchise under the bus with the ridiculous chase after Harbaugh, the hanging out of Sparano to the wind, the move to ask for fewer 1 pm games, the celebrity minority owners, etc the list goes on... The bottom line, Ross is the man, mfwic, the guy who shoulders the blame... Tony is the one being thrown under the bus, whether or not he's the true problem...
I would say Yes, but the season is over anyway. What's the point in firing him now for an interim coach who won't get us anywhere? Mike Nolan who did nothing with the 49ers and whose defense now sucks?
I have not cared less about the Miami Dolphins in the past 12 years. A decade of losing will do that to fans. Fire the coach if you want, I have no confidence that we'll be any better off. I wouldn't give this team my money if they paid me.
I have never been this indifferent this early in a season, even the CamCam year. We are garbage. We have talent so it is not a really bad/long rebuild but it is a rebuild none the less. Don't let Ireland make trades and try to save himself because he will get **** canned as well. Ride it out, see what we have, fire everyone in the organization and draft a franchise quarterback.
Someone in the gameday thread made the analogy of this team being like a boxer with no knockout punch. I'll go on a limb and say we're a boxer with no desire to use his arms. We just sort of headbutt and hope for the best. Toward the end of matches, we just sort of knock ourselves out, and then wonder what went wrong. Too many self-inflicted shots to the head.
and sadly, even if this team had a franchise qb, there are still many holes. O Line, D backfield. on and on.
