So like the other player fans here that forgive him you are okay with Brandon playing half ***. I'm not. Great players are great. Brandon is decent but way over hyped.
Not making a catch is not playing half ***. Playing half *** does not shove Jason Allen out of the way for a touchdown. That is the play an elite talent makes. You are seeing only what you want to see. The rest of see reality, a guy who made a mistake but who clearly makes us better overall.
You act like he is the only good receiver in the league to drop a football. this is coming from the same guy who said we ***** about the bad things rather than finding the good things about the team? Maybe you missed his deep pass that was grabbed in between two dbs and over the back of the cb and the td pass he man handled the cb doing. Im pretty sure andre johnson dropped one too and what did he do that bmarsh didnt? Now tell me dre is overrated because he dopped a td pass and didnt take the game over himself
I didn't say nor did I elude that Henne's 400+ yard game made him a great quarterback. I said he had a phenominal game. I was stating the new offense made him a better quarterback. I was disagreeing with those who still say Chad Henne doesn't have "it" yet. And no my solution isn't just to sit back and do nothing, but as I CLEARLY illustrated, teams that are constantly changing their coaching staff every year, from coordinators to head coaches rarely have success...and seeing how we've gone through more coaches than Charlie Harper went through condoms, it's no surprise we've had zero success since Shula's retirement.
With only 3 TD's and 2.8 YAC last season, Marshall just has to make more plays this season. He had the opportunity to do just that and he blew it. Maybe you are okay with him choking on game changing plays but I'm not handing him a pass. Once again I don't give a damn about Andre Johnson dropping a TD. That is not an excuse for BM to do it. Next........
That was last year, you can blame that on henne or henning or whoever you would like but that was not essentially marshalls fault. we're talking about now and if you happened to see anything but his drop you would have seen the other 5 or so big plays hes made the last two weeks. but since you decide to bring up the past ill do the same... maybe you remember his last year in Denver when he went 1200 yds and 10 tds and when he took over the patriots game and scored 2 TDs in the 4th quarter to win the game or when he broke the record for most catches in a game. But you know what he had a drop last game and hes just overrated and cant make any plays because if you dont catch everything then youre not great which means theres not a great receiver in the league. Man a lot of us thought we had one of the best receivers in the league but you just proved to us he cant make game changing plays and now we realize we have our hands full with an oversized ted ginn wearing #19. Looks like weve ought to enter the "suck for Alshon" sweepstakes to find the next jerry rice because marshall is not gonna cut it after that drop
What Marshall did in Denver has nothing to do with playing in Miami. Brandon needs to have that breakout game in a Dolphins uniform. Henne puts the ball on his hands on Sunday let's hope BM catches it . Not giving up yet......
Thats what I like to hear... so can we reunite as Dol Fans and just be optimistic as fu** because if were not optimistic then were not big enough fans. So lets hope the Henne to Marshall show becomes legendary starting sunday. optimism
What about the balls that Marshall already caught where Henne DID NOT put it in his hands. If you want to nit pick, then you have to realize that Marshalls GREAT catches thus far have also padded Hennes stats a bit. But, I really dont expect you to admit that. Everyone else who`s been watching the games realizes it so,whatever.
Marshall was #114 on the YAC list from last season. Also 50 + WR in this league caught more TD's than Marshall.
yes we are 0-2 but, look at the teams they played against. Patirots who are #1 in offense(yards), #1 in passing yards, and #3 in points per game. Texans who are #1 defense yards allowed , #1 passing defense, #1 scoring defense. browns are just not this good. if we cant beat the browns then we suck.
I believe that Killer has a point...The man came here under the perspective that he was an elite top 5 receiver, well, when you put up rac and TD numbers like that, you don't deserve to be talked about in that light...not yet anyway..I think he's top 10, so the criticism is only based on him climbing to top 5 elite..from what hes done in our uniform, I don't think you can make that case yet..
ever hear of the little boy that called wolf once too often? well, his name was Tony Sparano. Time to feed your wolf Tony, fish or cut bait. no one has the right to criticize a disillusioned fan base... please, no more excuses just get the job done.
What I find slightly annoying is that the 2011 NFL darling team- the 2-0 Bills and the dreck that's spilling from all news outlets. What a gimme start to the season- the Chiefs- who are truly injured and in disarray, and the Raiders- who can't beat anyone outside of their division, having to beat them on a last second play on a short week and a cross country trip. Am I the only one that finds this a bit odd? My guess is that we pretty much destroy the Browns this week, and will somehow manage to beat the Chargers who always seem to find ways to lose games they shouldn't. Wouldn't that be neat!
I think it's time to start talking about this season, after all we have already played two games and have a third against the Browns on Sunday. With that in mind, this season, Brandon Marshall is currently ranked 16th overall in YAC, a jump of 98 spots from the previous year. The knock on him was scoring. Obviously he's only scored the 1 TD but with 1 TD in 2 games he's shattering his pace from last season of 1 TD every 5 games - and on pace to score 8 this season, which would be just off his career high of 10 in 2009. Factor in that he's 14th overall in Receptions (on pace for over 100), 7th in overall Yards, and even 29th in Yards per Reception (Despite some calling him nothing but a "glorified possession receiver"), and I think he's on pace for a really solid season, and possibly even an All Pro (I could care less about the Pro Bowl) berth. I guess all that talk he gave us in the offseason about focusing more is paying off. For me personally, as a Miami Dolphins fan, I'm happy to see Brandon bounce back. Sure some of that's due to the fact that I have him in several fantasy leagues (I just felt like he was going to have a monster season) but as a Dolphins fan I feel like I'm finally getting a glimpse of the player we traded two second round draft choices for. You have to think that Brandon, should he continue to play at this level, will win at least one or two ballgames for us by himself this year. And I couldn't be happier.
Nice post. Really. I just don't buy any of it. Frankly, I'm sick and tired of the mediocrity. The franchise is a rutterless ship right now. You can call me a crybaby fan (Killerphin) if you want but I don't understand how anyone can have any optimism right now. The fact that we're 0-2 is not the point, it's how be got to 0-2. Two embarrassing home-field efforts. What's that, 1-9 in our last 10 home games? Unacceptable. But lets all keep the rah-rah attitude and view from our aqua and orange glasses. This thing will get turned around and we'll be in the playoff hunt. Right? Screw it. All aboard the Suck for Luck Bandwagon!
That's true, but the Pats are easily the best team in the NFL and the Texans are a top 10 team too. I'm not making excuses, but I don't have a lot of shame losing to those 2 teams. With that said, we better come out Sunday on fire. I think Cleveland is a decent up and coming team, but I want blood.
I agree..but we all analyze differently and with different personal expectations of players based on how we evaluate..I feel exactly like you said..
So, you are saying the Pats and Texans don't really have high powered offenses, it is just that Miami's defense is so terrible it made it appear they did? You know better than that. The Pats or Texans offense could hang 35 points on about any defense in the league on any given Sunday.
Yup, and Brady had an equal if not better day against the Chargers, the #1 yardage defense of 2010. If you take away the fluke 99 yard TD, vs Dolphins: 31/47, 65%, 416, 8.9 avg, 3 TD, 1 INT, 115ish QBR. vs Chargers: 31/40, 78%, 423, 10.6 avg, 3 TD, 0 INT, 135 QBR. (78% of 40 pass attempts? That's ridiculous.) Brady pretty much equally destroyed both defenses. And Houston put up 34 first half points against the Colts. Then they all went out for pizza. At least we weren't embarrassed by either team. 23-13 isn't exactly a blowout loss, and the Pats game was closer than the end score suggested. Houston is a playoff caliber team, and IMO we can beat them 5 out 10 times and could've beaten them Sunday. NE is a Super Bowl caliber team. Therefore I don't see how losing to a playoff caliber & SB team suddenly makes us a frontrunner for Luck. It could just make us playoff team who lost to another playoff team and a SB contender.
Stop making sense of things Todd. Don't you know better than that? Why just a day or so ago one of our illustrious forum members posted that 85% of the fan base wants the team to just tank the season, apparently so we can draft Andrew Luck next year. Sounded like a pretty official number, that 85%, so who are we to debate such sound logic?
NFL is waaaaaayyyyy too compilcated for me to offer anything constructive regarding plays, tactics etc, but to be talking of "finding another team to root for" is just not the done thing. You choose, or have your team fostered on to you by your dad / grandad ,and you stick by them through thick and thin.
