I really like this site. The majority of the posters here are mature, knowledgeable fans. Unlike other sites I have been on. Keep up the good work!
I agree with you. There have been some people who used to hang around here, that brought a little of the same element that makes the "other" site so maddening, but luckily the staff here has been good about removing those people who can't play by the rules.
You can type the word finheaven here. ThePhins is in the bad langue filter there. That's all you really need to know about the two sites IMO.
Quite a difference indeed. I can't tell you how annoying it is having to see "I told you so" or arguments about "real fans". It's pretty sad when Dolphins fans are criticizing each other on how to be fans, instead of criticizing the team when they deserve it. I say it a thousand times...criticize the team if you want, don't criticize how a fellow fan roots for his/her team.
When I first started going to that other site it was very good. A couple of years back it really started to slip and I left. I haven't looked back, this site is smaller but it has much better control of the beligerent posters. It is very easy to hide behind a monitor and lose all sense of decency for some. Quite Refreshing here.
TBH im actually a VIP member over there from many years back but its tough to wade thru some of the garbage there. Ive been a lurker here since the inception but finally decided to join. There are some good posters there that i wish would come here whether i agree with them or not(hooshoop being one). But there are just too many people relishing in the dolphins doing bad. Another thing that keeps me away from that site is the tolerance for trolls. There are fans of other teams that go there under the guise of giving a differing point of view but really only go to antagonize the dolphin fans or make smarmy jabs at the dolphins. For every "so-called" objective post there are 5 that are just digs at the dolphins. This site seems to control them better even though i have seen some jets fans here who do nothing but take cheap shots at the dolphins. I know we arent gangreen who closes their site everytime the jets lose but it still should try to remain as free of antagonizers as much of possible. TLR i like pie and this site better than the other one
It's because the other site is more realistic quite frankly. They've been calling for the idiots running this team to be fired for over a year while it's been mostly lollipops and rainbows here. Just being honest. That's why I post on both boards. The pessimism of the other board and homerism of this board balance out nicely.
I think this is partially true. I do think on the other site there are a large number of posters who would complain about the dolphins no matter what happens. We draft an OL in the first round and it was the worst pick ever even though our OL is the one of the worst in the league. Daniel Thomas is a terrible pick even though he looked pretty good yesterday. Ryan Mallet would be the savior of our team even though he was passed by everyone until the 3rd round. I'm not defending this regime at all but for as many sunshiners that are here, there are as many people who are relishing in seeing the dolphins flounder so they can stick out their chest to say "i told you so" After Henne's arm got hit and the ball flew in air for the int, how many posts suddenly came up saying Henne sucks? Its like they dont even watch the game. On that note i do think our HC needs to go. That attempt at drawing them offsides only to waste a TO was awful.
Well, I think that is somewhat of a fair obeservation pigmuffin, I think the cultures are just different, maybe one enjoys just talking about the Dolphins more, and the other wants to be "right" more? Eh, either way though, welcome aboard!
i dont even think its a case of them being realistic and/or right. If you say the dolphins suck every year for 30 years some times you are going to be right. I think thats the case with a lot of people over there. Every year they say the same thing. Every year every draft pick is terrible. Every year we are going to win 5 games. Ive seen these type of fans since the beginning of Marino's days. This isnt something new. We were getting to the playoffs every year but there were still a number of fans calling for Shulas head each year. And dont even get me started on how many people wanted us to keep Scott Mitchell and trade Marino after Mitchell took over after Danny got injured.
Being a pessimist doesn't automatically equal being a realist. I don't know why people seem to view it as such.
I don't see why they didn't just go for it on a half a yard play. If we can't get a half a yard play in a tight game where we know we have virtually no shot at winning by punting it back, we're screwed anyway. Makes me wonder why we let go of Lousaka Polite once again.

Definitely a lot of clowns on that board, but frankly, I don't really see a difference in the guy who *****es about every little thing and the guy who refuses to see any wrong with this team. Both are equally as annoying to me.
No, but realizing Tony Sparano is an awful coach is as realistic as it gets. I still remember getting *****ed at 2 years ago for calling Henning an awful OC. And then reality set in...
Well they both might be equally unrealistic and bias one way or another in terms of how they see the team. However, to me at least, the optimistic homer tends to see the good in things, enjoys the teams success more, gets more excited for the start of the season and is all around a much more happy individual as compared to the eternal complainer who tends to be more bitter, angry and an all around unhappy individual. I know who i'd rather hang around more and i sure as hell know which one i'd rather be if i had to pick one.
I'm really not sure how to interpret that profile name, KP....... although, I'm fairly certain I've met a few in my day during drunken bouts of standard lowering.
I share the same sentiments. That's how pessimists rationalize their pessimistic actions--- that they're being realists. lol. Pessimists aren't realists. Realists are realists. I've lived with a serious pessimist (3 of them over time actually). They have ulcers, experience more than a normal amount of illnesses & health conditions, and are always prematurely worrying about everything...... and complaining all the time (I cant forget that). It's quite stressful to be around and seems to zap those around them of their positive energy.
