Daniel Thomas looks like he can play. Sure he had the fumble, that can be fixed. He has good vision and hits the hole hard.
OL was blowing the D-line out, so kudos to them too. But DT head up, hard running was very nice to see. Looks good catching the ball as well. RB who? I'm looking forward to a review of the run blocking of the line for this game.
Relax. There's too much talent on the team to call it ****. Fact is their coach sucks. It makes them look worse than they are, that's it end of story. I can honestly say that certain posters on this forum would have won this game as HC, compared to Tony Sparano.
Yup.. He did so well that Sparano decided to sit him in the 4th quarter and when we were in the red zone.. I guess Sparano had faith in the other methods this coaching staff employed in the RZ than to try something new, like a 7 or 8 yard rushing gain on 1st down..
True .He played like he deserved the high draft pick .Unlike the other RBs we have had lately, he is a north south runner .He doesnt dance around. BTW he had the fumbling rep in college but it wasnt the fumble that lost the game for us.
Brandon Marshall dropped TWO passes, including one for a TD in the back of the end zone that ELITE WR's make. Brandon Marshall stopped his route almost leading to an INT. On the next play Brandom Marshall gave up when he was double covered in the end zone. This is not what we traded two draft picks for.
Gates got over the top and picked up that 40-yard PI. And he ran pretty well on returns, save for that ill-advised final return. You could see his confidence rising on the returns. Still needs to hit it a little bit quicker, as he still takes a step before committing. But he's hitting it harder than in preseason, when he looked tentative bringing the ball upfield. Henne continues to make some really impressive throws and play aggressively. I liked the no-huddle look.
4-5 drops Massive push by the Texans at the line giving him practically no TIME and batting down ball after ball after ball..
Are we really putting stock in QBR? QBR puts that INT on the QB. QBR puts dropped passes on the QB. QBR doesn't take rushing yards, 1st downs, 3rd downs, etc. into account. And so on. QBR is largely irrelevant in my view. Let's go with our eyes. Hell, Carpenter kicks two FG's alone and that's a completely different game.
Brandon Marshall did not play well by his standards. Players of his ability can't drop multiple passes, drop touchdowns, and give up on routes and brag about playing well. He's not Brian Hartline. He's supposed to be an elite receiver. The only elite receiver on the field today was Andre Johnson.
I think he'd be the first to tell you as much. That route vs Jason Allen, I think that was a misread by Henne. Marshall cut it off with Allen playing way off, Henne anticipated him continuing on.
He had the drop on the WR screen type pass. Only saw it live, no replay so maybe it was tipped. There may have been another one, about 8-12 yards downfield too?
DT was fantastic today. Shame that fumble will ruin his day probably, but that was a great hit by the defender too, helmet/shoulder right on the ball. It's hard to hang onto if youre a RB in situations like those. Just bad timing, it cost us alot of momentum. All in all though, he had a great game running the ball. Hope we continue to use him more between the tackles, and get reggie the ball in space more. We have to use him like NO did, or he's a waste.
Was I the only one who saw that fumble as a great play by the Houston defender and not necessarily a bad play by Thomas. The ball wasnt out like it was when Thomas was in college, it was in and it was a helmet on ball hit. In a textbook that picture would be next to the phrase "how to tackle".
DT looked like a different player.....he showed some nice moves and power....and for his first game was something to be positive about...........hope he progresses Hope Sparano realizes that Gates is not a good KR before mid to late season.....he's never been the quickest at evaluating...
I'd say the best performer through 2 games has been Brandon Marshall and it's not close. And even he has to answer for drops.
Bright spot is little by little this board is beginning to see that all might not be right in Davie and thats pretty darn refreshing ..... and hopefully makes for better reading...I hope I hope I hope........
Very true. It was a perfect hit on the ball. I guarantee EVERY RB in the NFL would have coughed that up.
I think Gates needs to learn to stay in the endzone when he is 6 yards deep, take the kneel, dont get us caught at the 8-10 yardline. I did like that we used the no-huddle, kudos to Daboll for that.
Considering how much the defense has died at the end of both games...I'm not all about the no-huddle. You have to protect your weaknesses, not expose them.
So its the offense's fault the D is poorly conditioned for whatever reason? A Great Defense doesnt give a damn how tired they feel, they step up regardless. They get off the field when it matters most.
[QU OTE=Fintastic;1581141]Daniel Thomas looks like he can play. Sure he had the fumble, that can be fixed. He has good vision and hits the hole hard.[/QUOTE] I was down on him during the preseason because I thought he danced too much before hitting the hole. He looked hesitant and didn't appear to be the power back he was advertised to be when he was drafted. I have to admit that he played a heck of lot better today than he did during the preseason. He hit the holes quickly and he was very effective once he got past the line of scrimmage. He just might turn out to be the back the Dolphins need to take the pounding Bush really can't stand up to over a long season. My one concern with Thomas was his fumble. He had a problem with fumbles in college and no matter how effective he is at running the ball. Laying the ball on the ground too often will quickly negate any success he might have as a running back. Hopefully he can get this problem fixed before it becomes a major issue.
Who the hell cares about 'fault'? I just want to win games. To win games you protect your weaknesses, you don't over-expose them. Going no-huddle on offense exposes the defense's lack of conditioning/inability to finish games. You know what was even more disturbing than when the defense allowed that TD to Andre Johnson in answer to us bringing the score to within 3 points? The fact that when our offense went three-and-out and punted the ball with 8 minutes left in the game (still plenty of time to mount a 10 point comeback), the Texans were able to run Ben Tate 8 straight times and take 5 minutes off the clock before finally giving the ball back to us too late to have even a glimmer of a hope at a comeback. The Dolphins' defense are averaging 70 plays being run against them in these two games. That includes 68 plays they had run against them today. Only one defense had more than that many plays run against them per game last year. That's a problem, considering the state of the Dolphins' defense's conditioning. You run the no-huddle, you speed up the game, it results in more plays being run. It can also result in your defense being out on the field more quickly, and that might not be a good idea considering what we've seen from them the past two weeks.
Yep and yep! He is the best offensive player. Period. The dropped TD was bad but man, he makes big plays!
