Name me a moment in his entire tenure here that Sparano has dramatically changed the game at half time by making necessary adjustments? Hypothetically speaking, we're down by at least 10 points, or even 7 points. Please name me these moments, because I'm pretty sure it will be hard to find. Once we're down, it's over. This coach is incapable to ever make adjustments, he's the Spoelstra of the NFL, except I think that's disrespectful to Spo too. Unfortunately they're both in Miami. And because of this, Sparano will never be a great HC or even close to a Super Bowl winning coach. He's out of his league and he's all talk. A cheerleader that has no expertise at any area of the game, not even offensive line.
None. I can't name any momments whatsoever. He's as good as gone. I wanted him gone last year, but were stuck with him again and I tried to be positive with him this year, but todays game has pushed me over the edge again combined with last week. Last week, the poor conditioning of the D. This week, the stupidity of being down 10, taking the field on 4th and 1, deep in your own end to try and draw them offsides, only to waste another timeout when then don't jump offsides so that you can punt. This guy is not cut out to be a head coach. He just doesnt get it. Players may like him, even more so now that he's lightened up, but he's not cut out to be an NFL coach IMO. He needs to go, and should have gone in the offseason. Even if we couldn't get Harbaugh, there were other candidates out there we could have looked to.
If he loses two of the next three (especially to the Jets) how can he be kept? What exactly does he bring to the table for this team?
I just think it's pretty inevitable. That's why I said it was a must win. Steven Ross won't handle another poor home showing. They're 0-2 & 0-2 at home.
Players liked Bates too doesn't mean **** really. Nick Saban was the obvious choice at that time. Before anyone comes over here and say that Sparano is better than Saban, please... Saban is a million times the coach Sparano is, period. He's got an expertise at defense, he's an innovator. The mistake was passing on Brees and Rodgers. Had that decision been made right, he would still be on this team and we would be far better off.
I have zero confidence in Sparano anymore. His teams lack drive, attitude, conditioning, and focus. In fact i am so confident we are done already this season that I am already onboard with the CLEAN HOUSE NOW movement! Lets get a real Head Coach in here and let him evaluate talent now. So we are not hearing all this crap again next year. New Coach, Andrew Luck, and the fans might start caring, because this team sucks in all facets. 2-0 Jets, 2-0 Patriots, 2-0 Bills, 0-2 Dolphins lol were a freaking joke. Spare me the it's early discussions this team is trash.. The Offensive Line SUCKS, the defensive line can't pressure anyone and our secondary is horrible. so I guess I don't believe Sparano can make adjustments...
You may be correct. The fact is, when it comes to finding that new coach, we shouldnt be lookin just at Gruden or Cowher. There's alot of guys out there that are OC's or DC's now that should get a shot. Rivera is doing good in Carolina, Schwartz in Detroit for examples. Not big name guys, but guys that have the qualities you need to be a HC in the NFL. Guys you should go after. I dont personally feel that Gruden or Cowher are right. Cowher maybe as GM, but I dunno about HC.
Question is who becomes interim HC. I honestly think Daboll has potential to have a nice tryout. Off course we'll keep Sparano all year in a dead 5-11 season.
Sparano apologist will take the positives from this game and once again rationalize why he should remain the coach. Yet the Dolphins continue to lose games the same way they have for the last three years. They play a team close and when the fourth quarter comes, neither the offense or defense can make the plays necessary to win the game. This is either because the talent on the team isn't good enough or the coaching isn't getting the job done. If it is a lack of talent on the roster, then Ireland has to be held accountable for this lack of talent and he should be fired for incompetence. The fact is that the Dolphins after two games of the season are 0-2. They are last in the AFC-East and trail EVERY team in their division by 2 games. I can just imagine how Ross must have felt looking around the stadium today and seeing thousands of empty seats. Especially when there were 10,000 tickets given out for free. Over the next two weeks the Dolphins travel to Cleveland and San Diego before they have a bye week. If the Dolphins lose both these games, I would not be surprised in the least if Ross doesn't make a coaching change during the bye week. There is just absolutely no way Sparano deserves to keep his job when he has a 1-11 record at home over the Dolphins last twelve games in Miami.
There is one fortunate thing with this team. At critical positions they have good players. Nolan sucked as a HC, but I think his teams played fairly disciplined. If he leaves the offense to Daboll they might have a chance.
Wonders? I must of have been asleep the 2nd half of last season and the first two games this year.. Wonderfully pathetic.
I think that if a change is made during the season, Nolan would be the likely selection to take over because of his previous experience as a head coach. That being stated, I don't agree that he has done wonders with this defense. Last week they were terrible and today, even though they played better, they totally fell apart in the fourth quarter after the offense pulled to within three points. They were average at best today and well below average when the game was on the line in the fourth quarter. I don't know that there is really any coach on the Dolphins right now who is head coaching material and that includes Sparano.
I don't think Nolan's schemes though have been the problem. I can't honestly say that he's been the one at fault except for one drive where Caroll has to cover A.J. I know Jones was supposed to help, but I guess Sean Smith has to cover Daniels or something?
I have as much faith in the Israelis and Palestinians making peace this year as I do in Sparano right now..
With all of the work that has been put into this team you would certainly expect better results than what we have seen so far. Cleveland could be a win but frankly I am not even confident in that. If it comes to choosing a new HC/GM I am a little apprehensive after the experience we had with Saban and Cameron. Saban was the best college coach available at that time. Cameron was supposedly the best OC available at that time. Both ended up being big disappointments. Instead of making improvements with the team they both seemed to make the team take steps backwards. Is there a dark cloud hanging over the Dolphins?
One thing I have noticed so far tonight is that all the Sparano defenders have suddenly grown quite. I personally have taken a lot of heat from Sparano supporters because of my desire to see him replaced. I don't expect them to now come on here and tell me that I was right all along. Yet I would sure love for them to now tell me why Sparano should be retained as head coach of the Dolphins. After his team started another season 0-2 and after they are 1-11 at home over the last 12 games played at Joe Robbie Stadium.
No the dark cloud is that they're not willing to do good work in hiring the right people that's it. New England sucked balls in the 70s, where's their dark cloud now?
Claiming that a team that lost is not making adjustments without stating what adjustments aren't being made is the number #1 worst sports radio/internet message board cliche ever.
You got a point there.... But then you have to wonder that Brady passed for what 600 yds last week... Our D line was run over pretty much the whole game this week..... got to be either no adjustments or poor adjustments.... so whats the difference.........
There is always apprehension when a team hires a new head coach or GM. They is no guarantee that the new hire will turn the team around. We have certainly seen this with Saban, Cameron, and now Sparano. Unfortunately the only alternative is to stay with the status quo and if Ross makes the decision to stick with Sparano and Ireland, he will only see less fans coming to the games. I would have loved it if Sparano had come in and been the second coming of Shula. I had hoped when he was hired that he would be a success and be the head coach for years to come. It hasn't worked out that way and whether we like it or not. It is time to bring in a new coach and GM and let them try to turn this organization into a winner. Because the head coach and GM we have now just aren't getting the job done.
There's been plenty of suggestions: 1) start Garner he looked fine in pre-season and even in limited time played well today. 2) try Cook at RG we know he can create room, if it doesn't work go back to Carey. Those are two off the top of my head that could potentially help. There are things like conditioning that I can't make suggestions for, they should have been done.
I'm starting to move towards the "Fire Tony Sparano" bandwagon. I like him, but this team has too much talent to keep disappointing like this. The defense looks good, then offense struggles. The offense looks good, the defense struggles. Rinse and repeat. We never seem to put a full game together. It's embarrassing that we can't win home games too.
Welcome to the world of Dolphin reality. The bandwagon is large and getting larger after every game the Dolphins play.
Those are two separate areas of play, pass defense and run defense. The pass defense wasn't really good enough today, but it wasn't awful. I don't know I'd go so far as to say the run defense was awful. They weren't losing out because they were getting pushed around or anything like that, Ben Tate played a hell of a game. He found cutback lanes really well, he ran hard, and he didn't get tripped up when people got hands on him on the line.
When a coach says that he has no answers afrter the 2nd game of the season it does not bode well for his future
I dont think everyone of them are as big of a Sparano supporter as you might think. Their responses to you might be because there is no choice but to accept he is the coach and they get tired of hearing it before games are played...
