Today I will miss atleast the first 3 quarters of the Dolphins/Texans.... I have not missed watching a game since the season opener in 2000 vs the Seahawks, I had to work Sundays from 11-7 and after that PAIN I quit my job(I was 20). Had some close scares the past 11 seasons but always found a way. Well this afternoon my 7 year old daughter Taylor (named after u know who) has her first soccer game of the season at??? Yea, 4:30....I knew once she signed up my luck would run out and this day would come. Seemed like an easy choice on Tuesday and dont get me wrong I know it is, its just starting to become reality this morning. Ahhh I guess its like Mr Myagi told Daniel, "Never put passion before principle, even if win....you lose" Enjoy the game folks.
i havent missed a game since we played the 49ers on the road and lost like 21-0 or something because of our staff christmas party, i then told my boss do not ever ever ever again put these things on a sunday, well i have missed like 4 christmas parties since then, there is really not much that will make me miss a dolphin game , my daughter is 4 1/2 now and thanks god no activities like this on the horizon yet.....i will scream for 2 people tonight....GO PHINS
The last time I missed a game live was October 10, 1993. I took my wife, then girfriend, to a theme park. The game was local so I was recording it. That was a REALLY bad day to miss a game and somehow I think the football gods were punishing me. At least I got married during a bye week......
I haven't missed a game, except that one hurricane moved one vs the Chiefs, since 1997. In 1998 we were late to the birth of my daughter because a game vs the Rams went into OT. I have missed family Bdays, funerals, and a dance competition because EVERYBODY knows the Dolphins come FIRST. Today is my brother in laws Bday, they were going to have a family dinner at 4pm. It is now moved to 1pm, so i can be back for the game. It's just how it is.
If you buy a good pair of earplugs so you can't hear anything about the game, keep the radio off on the way to and from the soccer game, don't look at any TVs, and then watch the game at home after having recording it, you will really not know what happened, and it won't make any difference at all what time you watch the game.
I don't think I've missed a televised game since I became a fan around 93 or so. I live in NC though where it all depended on how good the Phins were that year and who they were playing as to whether the game was on TV. Last couple of seasons with the help of Medi and now Sunday Ticket I get to see every game. It's kinda funny, anytime there is something planned on a Sunday my first thought is what the heck were they thinking? This morning I checked my facebook and one girl said her and her boyfriend were going hiking and then antique shopping. Antique shopping while the Phins are on?! My sister was smart enough to get married during the summer.
WTF. Dude, walk out. She'll understand. In the words of Mr. Miyagi: "BANZAI!!! BANZAAAAAAAI!!! BANZAAAAAI!!!
Since NFL Sunday Ticket arrived in Canada (15 years ago or so) the only game I have missed was John Beck's first career start. It was the Camcam season. I went to see Tool on Vancouver Island and was in transit during the game. I wish I had missed the whole year to be honest.
That's why the Dolphins Gods invented DVRs... Seriously, try living out of state and not having Sunday Ticket...my first year in 11 years too...something I had to give up...We'll see if I can stream it from somewhere ?? Don't know much about that...
That soccer career might last a long while. I wouldnt have missed my daughters for anything she is now going to college thanks to Nike and soccer. REPLAY only $39 and as cdz said keep the radio and tv off until then.
I had season tickets for 40 years, until I finally couldn't take it any more and did not renew this season. During the forty years I did have season tickets, I only missed one regular season home game. That was on October 30,1977. My wife and I had plans to attend the game against the Chargers that afternoon, but my daughter had other plans. She decided to pop into the world 10 days before my wife's due date. I have to admit that missing this one game did not bother me in the least. When it comes to attending or watching a football game, compared to being there for your child. I'll take the child every time. Enjoy your daughters soccer game today and just DVR the game and watch it when you get home. Good luck to your daughter and her team.
Good luck! I've missed three games my entire 'football' life. One in 1993 (the Achilles game), one in 1996, the last in 2000. Everyone knows not to test me. - sent from my EVO 3D via Tapatalk -
