that maybe Tom Brady was just that good? And, aside from Benny Sapp, the defense isn't that terrible? I will be very interested to see what Houston can do.
Tom Brady is Tom Brady. He is the best in the leasgue right now and he is going to get his. Our Defense is better than it showed on Monday and I still believe that it is the strength of our team. They will bounce back. My biggest concern is how poor their conditioning appeared against the Patriots and if it is as bad as it seemed, how long is it going to take these guys to get into shape?
Yes, I think it's very possible and I think the Patriots are going to make a lot of defenses look foolish this season.
He is healthy and getting better every season. Not only accurate at passing but much improved over time at reading the defense. I think he is adding Peyton Mannings play calling to his game.
scary good is my prediction for Brady this season. I see him matching or breaking some of his own personal records this season.
The Patriots are who we trought they were. And they did have good game plan that kept the Phins D on the field with the fast pace and Miami had trouble rotating different players in.As good as they are I was still unhappy with the lack of pressure on Brady-I think they had a couple of guys on their O-line that were banged up but didn't seem to miss a beat.As much as I hate those guys I think they do a heck of a job playing together and hope the Phins can learn from it.
The hurry up was genius...it nuetralized our depth at DL and the lack of conditioning etc. It was another brilliant idea by Bellichek. I dont expect the Texans who's offense is very good to come anywhere near the Pats performance from Monday. Iam worried about our offense vs Wades revamped defense though.
I think that was absolutely the case. That and the cramps that were plaguing the secondary. Reality is that even really good defenses have gotten lit up.
I think Brady is that good but I also think we were really that terrible on Monday. Sapp wasn't the only guilty party. It was a collective suck effort. Fundamentals were poor.
Brady may be the best, but it still takes 2 to tango. Our poor play allowed him to take it a level or 2 further than it should have gotten.
Brady is the best in the league, no question. he recognized our weaknesses and exploited them to perfection. his stats were slightly skewed by that welker pass, but he knew to pick on sapp and it worked out. like plenty others have said, out conditioning worries me more than anything. we have too much talent on defense for them to not bounce back
Put it this way, I sure hope that was the case. If it is, we have a very good team on our hands w/ Henne. Remember this about Brady, last year, during the reg season, he made two very good defenses look silly late in the year - Chicago and the Jests. Made it look easy. Now, somehow the Jets turned the tables in the playoffs, and still not sure how they did it. I just hope we have something figured out by the time we play them again.
Red Flag As I think no one in here expected the defense looked dismal........ Brady is a future hall of famer and will be considered as one of the best ever down the road.......But The worrisome thing for me is the lack of pressure from our DL. especially considering that NE O line is one of their weaker areas. Thats not even mentioning them losing their Center and the replacement coming in and not missing a beat..... Maybe we'll snap out of it but we should all be watching.........
This is a good point I kind of forgot about...Not really sure to make of it myself, but maybe someone will have some additional insight. Its scary how solid the Pats always seem to be no matter what you plug in. It almost seems unfair. This Brady/Manning hybrid monster is scary too haha. Until someone can play some solid bump and run coverage AND get pressure on him, I don't know if you stop them...maybe slow them down? At best?
You can't make unreasonable assumptions based on the first game of the week. Is our d bad? no. Do they have to prove they are good in Week 2? Yes. Brady had a great game. It was extremely well coached, gameplanned and excecuted. They knew our weaknesses and exploited them. Their players excecuted. Same thing can be said about our offense. They looked very good for most of week 1. Are they a great offense and not a concern anymore? No. they need to prove it next week too. I always hear football people in the media say you can't determine a whole season in week 1. Sorta like saying the Pittsburgh d is the second worst in the league because the ravens lit them up. Or the Pittsburgh Offense is the worst because they turned the ball over 7 times and only scored 7 points. I don't believe that will continue moving forward in the 2011 season, we shouldn't think the same thing about our D or our O. The game is all about adjustments, before games, during games and in between games. Miami's D and O have some adjustments to make this week before we play Houston.
It still boggles my mind that 32 teams passed on Brady 5 times! How is he so good??? Cuz he wasn't that good in college, at all. Bizarre.
He was pretty good in college IIRC. Had a pretty good record and some comeback wins. People got caught up in the physical aspect and overlooked the mental aspect. Though, he has improved a ton since getting drafted in NE.
The difference between us and the Patriots was conditioning, fundamentals, execution and strategy. That is 100% on our coaching staff. A great quarterback just exploits it. But clearly, Sparano has to go. He was a nobody when Parcells brought him in and he has performed like one.
you havent watched a lot of patriots games i think brady has a lot of time ALL THE TIME, it was not a new sight on monday, it always happens, i will start to worry if we can“t get to schaub on sunday
No pass rush, poor coverage, poor tackling, poor conditioning/injuries, lack of awareness, lack of effort...Tom Thumb could have had a 80 QBR against us Monday night.
I don't care who's defense you use, if you spend as much time on the field as our defense did it's going to wear them down in Miami's heat and humidity. That is why a running game is so imperative to be able to control the ball some and allow the defense to catch their breath. They had their problems but I think it had less to do with conditioning and more to do with NE being able to keep their defense off the field. That no huddle offense they used had a lot to do with it too since they couldn't make substitutions like they wanted to. Bill Belichick had a good offensive game plan and Brady ran it to perfection. He recognized Wake was our best pass rusher and he apparently had Solder concentrating solely on Wake.
