Hmpf. At least I'm going to be the dude getting wasted with the best darn beer. Small victories and all that ...
Rookie RT in for the Pats tonight....swap Wake, JT and Misi throughout so they all get a chance at the rookie! I want to see Wake sack Brady and cause a fumble for TD...or JT do it for old times sake.
The bookie of my choice (Pinnacle) still has MIA at +7 but I think you can get +8 at Bodog, which I suppose is a decent line if you think Miami has a chance to win outright.
keep Wake on Solder, have them have to keep someone else in, let misi pound his face in matt lights chest all nite...lol
One of the great beers I have had was while in Germany ( no surprise ) a weiss beer from the Munich area . We hosted a student for a year from Kassel , and her family was so appreciative they wanted us to visit . Her father bought beer like many buy wine , to enjoy paired with what you ate , time of year etc. I don't know if you can still buy it , I have not seen it for a couple of years here in Canada , but there used to be a wing powder package where you mixed the powder with some oil in a bag where you tossed the wings in , coated them and put the wings , bag and all in the oven . It actually had John Madden on the packaging , endorsing it , and it was really really good and so convenient. That would be an easy option for you if still available.
Yeah, there's some amazing breweries in Munich. Incidentally, I'm having a Paulaner Helle (or twelve) later tonight. Their weißbier is so-so, but their original pale lager is fantastic. Ah, the joys of having the world's largest beer market only a 10 minute drive away ... Thanks for the tip, mate, but I'm pretty sure these kind of things aren't available here. I wouldn't mind deep frying the wings myself, it's just that you can't get your fingers on a good hot sauce - and if you do, they'll charge you a small fortune for it. If anyone has a recipe for a great homemade hot sauce, I'm all ears ...
Sad thing is, we haven't exactly capitalized on the supposed heat/humidity advantage for several years now. I'd have much preferred to host both the Patriots and Texans at 1pm and dressed in their dark jerseys ...
The only problem being that the Patriots really don't depend on either Haynesworth or Ocochinco; even if they show up out of shape, chances are that they'll still be a fine team without them. And if you take a look at yesterday's games, it's not only the lazy fellows that have a problem with heat, humidity and a shortened offseason. If we can't put together long drives and keep Brady on the sideline, our defense might well be on the receiving end, too. Time of possession is going to be critical tonight; there simply wasn't enough time to get your defense into proper regular season shape and the less you have to rely on them in the first third of the season, the better. Quite a couple of not too shabby defenses (Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Kansas City) flat out disintegrated yesterday when their offense couldn't keep them off the field.
Things I would like to see tonight: - Use Daniel Thomas and Reggie Bush a LOT in the passing game against NE's LB's. Thomas may be a work in progress rushing, but boy the kid can catch the ball and move. - Work the deep ball. One trend from week one is the piss poor pass coverage that has been going around the league. Exploit that and go deep a lot. - I'd like to see the OL become much more stable with the addition of Jake Long. I'd like to see that right side of the OL not be an embarrassment. -Exploit NE's right side of their OL. As they are having even worse issues with their right side then we are.
Key is to make NE one dimensional but that means getting a lead. People forget that Belicheat coached one of the biggest A Holes in NFL history. Yes, you Lawrence Taylor. He then went on to have success with Bryan Cox, Rodney Harrison, Corey Dillon and Randy Moss. With our luck, OutofCinco will score 2 TDs and Haynesworth will be a force. UGH!!!!
Well that to...was trying to keep my list from being too large. I'd also like to see our secondary perform better (including getting their hands on the ball ) then most in the NFL have so far. Too many secondary lapses week one.
There's certainly weaknesses to exploit in the New England defense. Heck, there's plenty of them. The only question is whether or not our offense is adept enough to exploit them often enough. Because like CK in the other thread, I'm fairly certain that the Patriots will score on us and not just once. It'll be all about scoring back often enough.
They have that formation where the TEs line up and you have no idea if its a run or a pass to one of the TEs. Other than that and Welker, don't see much in that offense that scares me.
I don't think you send more than four after Brady on each play, maybe as a surprise five. Brady is incredibly good against the blitz and without extra defenders the Patriots can chew up yardage. Force the Pats to keep an extra blocker in and that's when Miami has a chance. Wake-Taylor-McDaniels-Odrick-Starks-Merling-Misi Those are the guys that have to step up and have excellent games. I would love to see Vontae cover Welker for this match-up.
merril Hodge concurrs. Isn't the skillset of Reggie Bush exactly what we need to battle the strengths of the pats which is their dline, I mean we don't wanna play smashmouth ball with wilfork and Hayneswoth on the field..
Good question . I never asked. I just accepted the fact that everything I do she thinks is nuts. And,while were on the subject I like the Light better than the regular Heineken. Although, I would`nt throw either out of bed.
Just leave our corners on an island, flood the middle of the field with zone coverage, make'em pay when the catch the ball, and get pressure with a 4 man rush..
Nah I'd want to avoid that big play. The Jets avoided that completely. The Giants four man line was exceptional but their DTs were not better than Miami's current group. Miami's current guys including a three man group of McDaniel-Starks-Odrick are very hard to stop. Considering that the somewhat weaker Nate Solder is on the outside, Odrick may line up where Kevin Carter used to years ago and you know the funny thing is that defense with a big LE used to kick the crap out of the Patriots offense. Haynesworth won't be on the field I think he's out for week one. The way you counter the Pats strength is you spread them out and run on their nickel and dime formations. Our WRs can run block they're CBs. If we face them without Wilfork on the field it's a different ball game.
I never understand why you let Wes welker get onE free release off the los, when you do that you allow him to engage his hips into his route progression, if you get up in his *** at the LOS, then you negate his biggest strength, make him play physical..There is no reason why VD cannot infect welkers ***.lol
I've watched a ton of footbll, NFL, CFL, NCAA, and the rules to win a game, or to make it far more likely to win, are the same: -Do not turn the ball over -Do not commit Special Teams blunders -Do not commit stupid penalties, false starts, delay of game, illegal formation -Make the plays you should make, meaning, tackle well YAC is hugely important to offenses, more so then the new anti defense rules, and while many think the fade or back shoulder is a huge key, if you just catch the simple passes, you go a long way towards winning -Always know where the first down line is on the field, the number of times a player needs 10 yds and runs 9 yds only to be tackled short is astonishing -Always know your assignment, this boggles me in the NFL, how can you have free runners in the secondary? Or unblocked passrushing DE's or DT's? -Catch the int, fall on the fumbled ball. How many of those general rules of winning did we see the Cowboys violate last night?
Of course when previewing the game and Chad Henne, ESPN has to state "Since 2009 Chad Henne is one of the WORST Quarterbacks when it comes to completions, touchdowns, interceptions and yards per attempt............ .... .... .... on passes over 20 yards" with the giant stat sheet showing "31st, 31st, 31st, 32nd" with a tiny little size 2.5 font * in the corner stating the same "over 20 yards" stipulation. I realize chad hasn't had the greatest stats but must they skew them to make him look as bad as possible all the time? seriously?
well its true, its US AGAINST THE WORLD, they wanna make the pats look good, LETS SHOCK THE WORLD TONIGHT
Are the Pats really going to play a 4-3 defence with Andre Carter or Mark Anderson lined up opposite big Jake? It's going to be fun watching either of those 2 playing like they are on roller-skates.
yeah whateva you wanna call me tonight, i can take it..... SHOCK THE WORLD !!!!!! PUT US ON THE MAP PROVE THE DOUBTERS; HATERS WRONG !!!!
i have my buddy sitting next to me when this game starts and he has tom brady on his fantasy team playing, i told him at least 10 times in the last 5 minutes that he has to get ready to prepare for live without brady in week 2
