Hey fellas, Does anyone know when they'll vote on team captains? I truly hope that Henne gets the C on his jersey this year.
if theres only 3 caps my guess is beast jake and dansby i would like to see vontae and henne also with it
"Later this week" is the answer I have heard. I think we'll see Henne, Dansby, and Bell as our captains with a rotating special teams captain.
It will really show how far Henne has come if he gets voted as captain. It will also boost his already soaring confidence.
And given how well he played in the preseason overall, combined with the off-season workouts, and positive comments coming from guys like Bess and Bush, I really think he deserves it.
I'd be surprised if henne didn't get one, the team really seems to be behind him this season. dansby is the obvious leader on defense, though vontae deserves it too. I can't get enough of how much swagger that kid brings to the table
Four Captains + One rotating special teams captain. I think they are voting today. I'd imagine it will be Jake, Dansby, Yeremiah and Chad.
I would make Henne, Long, Dansby, and and JT, a surprise pick. Rotating on ST's is fine, although Hilliard has earned it.
I know I made a joke earlier, but we really need to have Jim Mandich be a honorary captain every game. JMO
Perfect MK...Chad and Jake...side by side..Dansby and Bell... Also, not sure if everyone knows, but the staff and Sparano will have nothing to do with it...
Did they before? Or has it always been a player vote? I get a feeling from this team..just this vibe of togetherness..you can already feel the "us against the world" mentality.
Off topic - but I love your user name hahaha. On topic - hoping for Chad, dansby, and honestly - JT. I think he could get some spark in those boys
My captain list: Dez bryants mom dez bryants mom dez bryants mom dez bryants mom boom goes the dynamite and ireland's head.
I would be very surprised to see JT a team Captain, this isn't his team anymore. It should be Dansby/Wake/Davis as this is now their team. If one of those 3 and Bell aren't D captains then I would say this team hasn't developed as much as I would have hoped.
Sorry but Jason Taylor is the biggest face this franchise has had since Dan Marino and he has always been very respected by his peers. To write him off because he was stiffed by the very organization he worked his *** off his whole carreer is a mistake if you ask me. JT will always be remembered as one if not the best defensive players Miami has ever and will ever have. Mark my words, JT will have a much bigger role in the defense this year than most people are expecting. even at his age he is a much better player than Misi can only hope to be
Marshall should be one of them. Brandon stated a desire to be recognized like other elite players; so give it to him. Companies won't do it, but we can in the form of Captain. He's earned it so far this offseason. You wanna see a guy get a little emotional?.... award Brandon this honor. Besides, sometimes a great way to keep an important guy focused is to give him a title and more responsibility.
This article just says "later this week": http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...ptain-0908-20110907,0,4724576.story?track=rss
Sorry or not JT is not the current face of this franchise and if the players rally around him and not the current "faces" then that says a lot about where this franchise is to date. I have no problem with JT being honorary captain but to me he is no longer the face regardless of how much he is involved. JT deserves his place in the ring and respect for being a Dolphin but he needs to move over and hand the team over to the next in line.
He hadn't actually crossed my mind...but I think you're right. It would potentially be big for him...especially as he is already a major mentor to the other young receivers on the team. I do think he could really help get the team emotionall charged up in do or die time as well.
Thanks, TPM. Yeah, I think Brandon fits in the category of the guy who suddenly holds himself to a different standard when rewarded with something like Captain. Instead of him having the expected sporadic fits, he'd be the guy now trying to keep everyone else in line. If you make him Captain, he's the kind of passionate guy who will want to lead by example and make sure no one else steps out of line etc. It would be a very smart move IMHO.
I will be rooting for JT very hard, but it is just hard to forget he played for the Jets. To me, he doesnt seem like the heart and soul of the defense. He seems more like an additional piece, but far from essential as he was a few years ago. He has been replaced while he was gone by younger players like Dansby, Wake and VD.
that man is only 27 years old, Todds right, you get that mind right and pointed in the right direction when you have specimen like that...If I'am Sparano, I may interject this one time.
The reason why I respect your eye for talent is because when you project a player, you combine the human element thats gets the talented athlete to becomed focused in their craft..Better accuracy in the long run..now you must learn how to project athleticism thru genetics and physique {I know their are exceptions}..I could blow you away with that theory and proof. Watch out for Akeem Ayers from UCLA..
