Dolphins coach Tony Sparano disputed reports from multiple media outlets that relations between the Dolphins' new hierarchy and dancing Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor have grown arctic.

''I think it's been overblown,'' Sparano said. ``I've said this before, I said it several weeks ago -- I understand what Jason is doing. Jason and I have spoken, and that's really all that matters. Jason and I stay in contact. As long as I know what's going on with Jason and he knows what's going on with me, I think we're in good shape.''

But I think that's Sparano's whole point. As long as JT and the coach can get a long, maybe that's all that matters.

maybe that is Parcell's point as well. he is the VP of the team. not his responsibility to "talk" to the players. i'm sure BP doesn't like the fact that JT is missing the voluntary work-outs but it is not his problem. it is Sparonos.

You're right this is horrible. We have way too many future hall of famers and MVPs playing in Miami right now. I wish they would have shipped him out b/c of this molehill that was turned into a mountain.

Maybe Miami's fanbase really is as fickle as some say it is.

Once TC starts and there is some real football news, this story will be an afterthought.

I do think it was overblown by the press including the rumors of an imminent trade.

Having said that I am sure we were fielding offers to see what JT would bring and thankfully we didnt sell him short

Just think of how J.Long will benefit from facing JT in practice throughout training camp.

This story might be "over blown" but considering that Parcells has not commented other then his statement that JT will be a Miami Dolphin in 2008 or he will retire, this story will continue to have legs.

If the Tuna would put to rest all the speculation that there is a contentious rift between he and Taylor I believe that this would just go away..

So it begs to differ that what has been reported is mostly valid!

Parcells imo is the key to squashing all this because as we all know that JT will never come out against this organization..

Parcells hasn't commented on anything; period. One common theme has been that he has been refusing to talk with the sports reporters. It's not just the Taylor thing. He wouldn't talk to the reporters during the mini camp, either.
So if you're expecting Parcells to be the one to put an end to rumors, forget it. Sparano is the HC and he's going to be the one who talks to the media. Parcells is wisely stepping back and letting the HC and GM be the voices for the team.

"if you're expecting Parcells to be the one to put an end to rumors, forget it"

I never typed that Parcells WILL, but that doesn't mean that Parcells shouldn't..

This story will continue to where it MIGHT turn into a major distraction..

And the one thing that this 1-15 team DOES NOT NEED is any more distraction's..

And as has been reported Wayne might need to intervene and toss the olive branch to both sides..

Parcells might be right in his thinking that JT is a leader and should be dedicated to this team but the spotlight has been on this organization for the past 5 years (and will continue to be) . It sure as hell doesn't need to have (arguably) the Dolphins best player involved in a pissing contest with the VP!

Sparano and Ireland are only going to talk about the positives. wouldn't be afraid to bet that they both think that Parcells needs to speak up..

I disagree. Parcells doesn't need to say anything to anyone other than the owner and the FO. He is not the head coach or director of personnel. The media is painting this like Parcells is the head coach. There is no reason he really needs to 'speak' to the players or how he feels about any of the players.
Name one other VP that does that.
The media is just used to him being a head coach and speaking to and about his players. They need to get over it.

This gets to the point of it. How many other VPs in the NFL have stories written about them on a daily basis like Parcells? It's unprecedented. I've never read a story in my life about a VP and a player not getting along prior to this. Could it go on behind closed doors? Sure, why not, but it really isn't news and thus we don't hear about it.

Parcells is such a high profile guy that he's going to get coverage so we now have a big story over a minor issue. We have an aging superstar on a rebuilding team. We were interested in moving him and he was interested in going to a contender. This just makes sense for all parties involved. Both JT and the team denied it publicly (which is the right thing to do imo) and the media wrote a ton of stories about because its their job to write stories about something.

And lets not forget, this is just Parcells being Parcells. He's not going to come out and "clear the air." He has a history of calling guys out in public-- Keshawn, Glenn, etc... and with the exception of psycho headcase TO, its overwhelmingly worked out fine for both the team and the players. He's a tough love kind of guy. I'm sure he's not thrilled about JT doing the television show, but I can guarantee you he's not agaonizing over it on a daily basis like us folks on the message board. He's got more important priorities and we're so starved for news at this point in the offseason that we just need something, anything to talk about.

Bottom line, while it may have been nice to get a high pick for him to further our rebuilding efforts, we made the right call by holding out for value. It didn't make sense to give him away.

JT is still a Dolphin and will be in camp, in great shape, and ready to play when it's mandatory.

Why would they need him to speak up? The relationship between Sparano and Ireland and Parcells is fine. These are guys who have worked together in the past and are in the positions they are because they know and trust each other. Sparano and Ireland don't spend 3 hours a day debating why JT shouldn't be doing dancing with the stars. They're evaluating players and implementing systems. The only reason any of them even talk about it is that they're required to speak to the media so they answer the questions when they are asked. At this point, to think this is anything more than a backburner issue for these guys is laughable. We tried to trade JT and didn't get what we thought he was worth so we kept him. Attempting to trade him was about rebuilding, not about dancing.

I think the best BP can do for this team is to stay out of the press and focus on assembling a team full of young kids into a winner. I for one, am very happy that Bill Parcells hasn't said much about the Jason Taylor situation. We saw a report a week ago that stated that Bill Parcells just gave Jason the cold shoulder when they saw eachother, that might not have been the best thing to do but he did not confront Jason verbally.

I leave this post with the following:

    "Actions Speak Louder Than Words."

this thing is overblown but what helped that was the imminent trade rumors going around before and during the draft that helped make it bigger than it actually is

I don't think Parcells should speak up. I think he needs to continue doing what he's been doing - staying in the background. That's the proper place for him. With every other team the HC and/or GM are the voice(s) of their respective teams, why should the Dolphins be any different?
Sparano already went on record saying that he's kept in contact with JT and everything is fine between them. That should be enough
However the media needs some controversy to write about and since they can't get it from Sparano or Ireland they're taking the position that Parcells should become the voice of the team for this issue. Why not, for now just except Sparano's comments?

I fail to see WHY Parcells has to put this to rest, why does Parcells have to respond to endless story after story, all or most drummed up by the news media? Bill has a LOT more important things to do, like running football operations, than to waste his valuable time responding to every stupid story put forth by some media nut who needs ratings.

I think we all know that Parcells has more important things to do and is leaving this kind of dribble to Sparano.

But he has commented already. And the media just brushes that aside and want another comment, and another, and another. Without comments they are useless, so they need Parcells to comment. He made his one statement, whether true or not (probably not) he made it. And that's that.
