Don't worry, Booker trade aside, your time to heckle the Jets is coming soon. We're putting together a solid young core while they spent a ton of money on older players. This season may be trying, but our time is coming.

Btw, I don't see Booker lighting it up like Welker when he went to NE. That was the best single season offensive performance by a team in NFL history and Welker was a perfect fit for them. Booker is going to spell Westbrook who is hands down the best player on that offense. He isn't going to get a ton of touches. The Eagles system is also notoriously hard to learn so he's going to get eased into action unless the unthinkable should happen for Birds fans.

I'd agree if it weren't for Reid's track record, he will find a way to get Booker the ball, and Westbrook is pushing the 30 yr old mark, and he misses alot of time with injuries.

    Ted Ginn = Terry Glenn!

He added some pounds during the offseason and might have to add more to satisfy BP, but he will be special for us!

Whoa Whoa Whoa. My boy isn't going anywhere! I know the Tuna likes size but you can't argue with Talent. If Ginn lights it up he stays a fin. If he is nothing special after a few seasons he gets his walking papers. This is the same for everyone. Oh and by the way Terry Glenn. Need I say more?

He fits fine. As long as he catches the ball he fits in.

You know, Ted Ginn is not significantly undersized for the WR position, especially now that the force out rule is gone. But you're on to something; I think the FO will want to get rid of Ginn at some point simply because he's not a bigger guy. Ernest Wilford is definitely more along the lines of what they want at WR, and now I'm starting to think we may make a run at TJ Who'syourmomma next year.

A skyscraper WR corps is nice in theory, but then you look at Jacksonville's WR play and you realize that making your entire corps that way doesn't work. One tall guy as a red one target is plenty, especially in the myopic offense we're going to run. (Take a drink every time we throw past 15 yards. Don't worry, your BAC will never change.)

They wanted more physicality at RB. If Brown isn't ready and Ricky becomes ricky, that 3rd back all of a sudden is crucial to our success.

If this FO wanted exclusively size and physicality, they wouldn't have gone after Foster and Bess.

The question is, why are they relying on Ricky Williams in the first place?

Size and physicality explains everything they've done on defense and almost everything they've done on offense, or at least the offensive line.

do they really rely on ricky ? we drafted 2 RB`s given the fact that this is the position for the easiest transition from college to the pros, they shouldn´t have a hard time catching up, the only tough thing to learn is pass protect on 3rd down

After hearing about Gil Brandt's comments on Sirius, I think we were targeting Ray Rice with the Henne pick.

We have one new running back to replace Lorenzo Booker and one new fullback to replace Reagan Mauia due to the Carolina Ale House incident.

Let's see them make the team first. Then we'll talk.

One name...Terry Glenn. He went from a player Parcells did not want, to one he wanted with him in Dallas. As far as I know Ted Ginn Jr has done nothing but work hard since becoming a Dolphin so I see no reason for fear him being traded.

The way Parcells operates, he will hate a player until the player proves himself, after which Parcells will defend him to the death.

    Terrell Owens excepted, of course.

Yes, they really are relying on Ricky Williams. They've already succumbed to the temptation to keep Ricky around. Wannstedt got burned by him, Saban got burned by him, Cameron didn't get the chance to get burned by him but I'm sure Ricky would've loved to give it the ol' college try.

Remember, we didn't draft two RBs, we drafted one RB and Mauia's replacement. On our depth chart, Ricky is #2 behind Ronnie, and Parmele and Cobbs bring up the rear.

Yes, and Booker was in line to step in for any small misstep, Brown ain't ready, then Ricky. That #3 RB spot is very important because Ricky is in there. You can't rely on him. That's the whole point.

And I disagree they are relying on Ricky. They are hoping to extract all they can from him, but trading out Booker for a more physical back shows me they aren't relying on him. Relying on him would entail making that 3rd RB a luxury.
Nobody said anything about that. They wouldn't have even gone after those two if they were exclusively targeting size and physicality. Those were your words.

Ricky is in the #2 RB spot, not the #3 RB spot. By all accounts, Ronnie will be ready for training camp; you've then got to consider that we're going for a run-heavy offense that will see multiple RBs getting multiple carries. I would be shocked if the coaching staff weren't relying on Ricky Williams to be around, because I think they prefer a washed-up Ricky Williams to no Ricky Williams.

Trading Booker just shows they have no use for a RB whose primary talent is catching passes in space and juking linebackers out. Cameron had a big use for him because the Coryell offense thrives on that kind of play; Henning's offense does not. Toss in Parcells' love of size, and you wind up with Booker being the odd man out on the RB squad.

IMO, if the coaching staff could indeed get past Booker's size (or lack thereof) he would have already been moved to slot WR. But instead, he was traded, and a bigger RB was drafted. That tells me a lot about this regime's approach to offense.

I think Ricky is being kept, for now, as experienced insurance in case of injury this year to Ronnie, to help train the younger players, and, if we get lucky, to become valuable enough to get us a draft pick for next year.

I think Ginn very much fits the role on one side of a Parcells offense. They always have had 1 WR that stretches the field.
