I said as soon as I saw he had stupidly been waived that either the Bills or Pats will claim him. He'll end up becoming a starter for them on down the road and make our lives miserable long after Sparano and Ireland are gone from Miami, just like Rob Ninkovich has been doing, who they stupidly waived instead of Quentin Moses a couple years ago.
Don't the patriots have like the last waiver claim priority? Means he wasn't a very hot commodity Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using Tapatalk
We'll see. He's a potential guy. The fact is he was beaten out by four other inside linebackers this year.
I believe he will stick, smart player, good measurables, we have a good rep for developing Lb's. Won't get torqued up over it however, most times what the offense is doing is dissected by half time with instant pics of the formations and blocking scheme but this is why guys are cut prior to installs happen
Like we're getting a preview of their offense from Yeatman? I think it's a bit overrated to be honest, though I doubt he has the ax to grind like Crowder did at the time (Crowder said he would have brain dumped the entire defensive playbook).
From a guy who played exactly zero games in said defense... And hey, we're getting an insider view of their offense with the TE we used Edds' spot on. But that doesnt count for the Fins? Just the Pats?
Congrats to the Pats for rostering a coverage LB that hasn't shown he can cover at this level. I'm not sure what the fuss is about.
Probably. We've see about 10% of all the reps this preseason but from what I can tell, Gates and Burnett are the only players the front office has hit on this whole preseason.
No fair using logic and facts and stuff!! I'd guess they would be #27 in line or so, inow 26 teams passed on claiming him, which is surprising as I figured the Bills or Jags would put in a claim.
I respect your opinion more then any one elses on this board (I really do) but I think you might be a little off with this guy. I guess time will tell but I just dont see it. I am much happier that we were able to keep Kearse.
I was unimpressed with his tackling this preseason but had hopes for him to improve as a Dolphin not a Patsie.
Have we kept him? That seems to be muddled , don't see him listed on the PS , at least from what I have seen.
Right... so if the only team who wants him is the one we play in week one, the team who the media say has no way of knowing our new playbook... any guesses why it was them who signed Edds?
You guys realize that Edds hasn't played football in a year, right? He's basically a rookie who looked very promising at Iowa. People are talking like he's a 3 year vet who has logged in sufficient playing time. I don't get it. If he and Spitler both began playing simultaneously, Spitler is the one getting the axe.
Well I am done talking about Edds at any kind of depth. I don't need anymore warnings for allegedly insulting someone. I like Edds. I think he displays good all around instincts and he is a very secure and reliable tackler. I think he shows much more long term potential than Austin Spitler. There. Now I done talking about him...other than maybe a nice sterile one sentence comment from time to time...maybe.
Disagree about him lacking instincts, but definitely agree that he didn't seem very aggressive and physical attacking the holes and the ballcarriers. Some players are ferocious and put ballcarriers on their arse. Stop them dead. Edds did not seem like one of those players. Then again, few Linebackers are that way, and Edds was always, as I understood it, supposed to be very smart and also good against the pass. He wasn;t brought on to be a run-defense hole plugger, primarily.
My guess. Same reason they claimed Rob Ninkovich off waivers a few years ago. They think he can be a good player for them.
I thought Spitler got exposed a bit in coverage and was carried further than I'd like to see on a couple tackles. Overall, though, he stood out most positively to me on a couple STs plays. That may have also factored into them keeping him over Edds. STs is getting more love this year.
Well, noticed that and know at the moment people are very emotional, just thought it was a good time to toss it out there and let the bladders be emptied. I'm glad they did not sign him as he is the most effective blitzing Db I've ever seen.
I like Edds (and loved Ninkovich. IIRC the Saints signed him then cut him too before the Pats got him). I think it's a double-bonus to the Pats that he's a good player AND can help reveal something about the new Dolphins offense.
