First of all...he thinks Cameron Wake and Channing Crowder getting pass rush is a key for the Dolphins. Even if Crowder didn't retire why would he be a key over Dansby or Misi?

They know as much as we do about what will happen this season, which is nothing, they just get paid for it. All they do is jump on whatever bandwagon is winning, and right now that's last years playoff teams. Dolphins better win so they can just Suck It.

Thank gawd I ain't heard it in a while, but when Berman used to spout his "Nobody circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills" line, I wanted to jump through the TV and punch him in the nose.

Good. Just another guy who publicly states we have no chance, and disrespected us even more by doing so. It should be nothing but extra motivation for the team. I'm so ****ing pumped to see how we come out.

Laughing at whether or not we will beat the pasties is fine. Being a Donkey lover is fine, that's his prerogative. Being generally uninformed about a team he was supposed to be evaluating is inexcusable. I like TJ, he's an old-school guy, one of the first major 'jock-turned-media' guys. His opinions are generally right or at least close. And we, as Dolphans, are going to be harder on him than a Donkey fan because he doesn't/can't/won't be more informed than he is. What bothers me the most is the lack of accountability by BSPN big-wigs to some of these guys they hire to be the face of the network.

Don't be so hard on Tom Jackson, he could be mentally impaired given all the hair spray on fumes he's breathed in over the decades.

Bermans bills aren't even in the conversation, that's how bad they are. The mainstream media knows miami has a tough chance, in a tough division, with uncertainty at QB but they know we do have a lot of good pieces.

Tom Jackson and Berman are weak. Their opinion doesn't hold much water. Still think Sparano could use as a motivator, i know if i was a player and heard that nonsense i would be fired up to prove the world wrong.

EDIT: Someone with graphics knowledge should find that clip and start making a video for youtube, so when our PHins suprise the world, the video can go viral and somewhat make Tom look terrible and accountable for his disrespect. That would be awesome IMO.

I don't particularly care anymore. Every one of these bozo's is banging on the Phins, who the hell cares if Jackson wants to pile on.

All I know is the season is coming down to the right side of the o-line.

That and that cartoon character Chowder somehow. How a fat little bunny cook is going to stop the run I have no idea, But Tom Jackson says it's so.

I bet if Jackson knew Crowder wasn't on the team anymore he would've only laughed for about 10 seconds. 13 TOPS.

Also, if anyone can find a clip of the pregame predictions of the 2004 Monday Night Game between the Pats vs. Dolphins, this would be the thread to post it. I believe Al Michaels asked Madden what Miami could do to win that game. Madden's response? "Nothing".

Considering the Dolphins are 7-8 point underdogs for their home opener on a Monday night, this isn't very surprising.

It was a conference call or an interview that Volin was conducting or a part of. Here's a link to his twitter feed. If you scroll down a little bit you'll see the tweet relating to this issue:

    Heard we were 6.5's?

Brand new pats secondary vs Henne and the new offense, should be closer then that, but who knows that is why it is called "betting" not "winning"

Its been moving up, at 7 right now.

And obviously they play the games for a reason, but the markets believe that NE is far superior.

Yeah. Vegas would have to make the line 9 or 10 to get equal action, I think they'd rather root for the Fins than do that tho.

BSPN just has this hard on when it comes to Miami based sports teams, do not know what it is all about, but to me it is fairly obvious.

When I heard Chris Berman was the 2010 recipient of the HOF Pete Rozelle Award I laughed for at least 21 seconds...then shook my head for another 21.

If anything, it's not ridiculous enough. It is absolutely reasonable to take the stance that the Patriots are as much as two TDs better than us. Possibly more than two, given how they destroyed us last year.

As for this thread… why did it hit 4 pages? Yes, Tom Jackson's behavior is the height of disrespect, as is Chris Berman's accompanying laugh track. But, even more important than whether or not Jackson and Berman laughed at our chances of winning and for how long they laughed: who cares? Why are Chris Berman and Tom Jackson afforded opinion maker status? Why was Volin even on a conference call with them in the first place? Yes, I know, our game is on Monday Night Football and they co-host Monday Night Countdown. So what? Hosting a show and being a former player, respectively, are not by themselves meaningful enough to deserve this sort of attention.

This also applies to ESPN as a whole. We're going to take seriously the network that picked Craig James over Bruce Feldman? The network that thought putting Joe Theismann and Tony Kornheiser together in a booth would make for great television? The network that force-feeds us Mike & Mike?

Seriously, people. Have some freaking standards.

ESPN as most sports "reporting" & "commentary" is now entertainment and leans more on opinion & shock than substance. At least once a year I make the mistake of tuning into what the Sunday NFL preview. It is quickly followed by the thought and action that I should be doing something worthwhile like picking up dog****. This being said until the Phins knock the snot out of the Pats they will continue to remain a joke to these networks.
