Ben Volin actually timed it. Both he and Berman laughed, apparently, but Jackson's laugh was timed at a full 21 seconds.

Well, I can't imagine anything more disrespectful, obviously. If Sparano has any brains at all he's getting a hold on a copy of that tape. I'm pretty sure he either monitors the beat writers' twitter or has them monitored, so presumably he's going to know about this.

I had already figured these guys to be pretty pumped up for this game, but this could add some rocket fuel to the proceedings.

Wow, I can understand if they don't think we'll win but that's pretty damn disrespectful.

And how the hell does someone laugh for 21 seconds? lol

someone should tell TJ that we all laughed for 10 full minutes last year when the donkeys draafted Tebow in 1st rd. or when they gave up Hillis for Quinn or when the raiders beat them. basically for being the donkeys

Have we gone 3-13 each of the last 2 seasons and I missed it? Yes, we've fallen just short of .500 the last 2 years, but damn, we always have given teams a damn hard game and nothing has come easy for any team that has played us (except for the joke up in Foxboro last year).

All we've done this offseason is get faster on offense, bring in a new scheme that may actually take advantage of the talent we have there, and possibly improve on what was already a very good, young defense.

    What am I missing?

I'm wondering the same thing. Plus it wasn't even a funny question (I didn't see it). One can laugh for 21 seconds about a non-joke?

As I've said many times, these are all people with less knowledge about the team me, so when I hear their prognostications I often laugh as well.

The question, apparently, was some version of, "what do the Dolphins need to do to beat the Patriots?"

That's what prompted the laughter. All 21 seconds of it, according to Volin.

How long did he laugh at Berman's Bills?

Berman didn't laugh that long as that would be too long of a cardio workout for him to endure. When I see Berman still on tv I remember the Sidney Pollack movie " They Shoot Horses Don't They ? and wonder why it doesn't apply to him.

he also reportedly thinks Channing Crowder is still on the team. That made me laugh for 21 minutes.

Actually, he did. Apparently he said, and I quote, "I'm going to put it on Wake and Channing Chowder up front."

That's right. He said "Chowder." Which is not the right name of a guy who isn't even here, but who's counting?

Another example of guys knowing less than us about the team. Seriously, they played in the NFL so they know the nuts and bolts of things extremely well. But they know very little about the actual teams. Especially not our team because we aren't atop the league.

Looking forward to Jesse Agler going off again on the Finsiders today. He was killing Matt Millen the other day about it.

The only thing Chris Berman should be allowed to do is NFL Primetime post-game highlights. I think their music just makes his commentary on the games better or something.

The key for me is that this could find it's way into the locker room. Like it or not, but the Patriots are favored to win this game and should be. This kind of thing can help add that extra spice, that extra rage, that extra something that propels you to victory.

This is what I don't get..these guys are getting PAID to know and relay this info..where most of us fans know so much more than they do when it comes to current teams rosters, their coaches, schemes they run, and personnel. And I don't even mean specifically to our Dolphins. A lot of us pay really close attention to other teams to see what is shakin' around the league, and all these guys do are look at last years box scores and stats (maybe) and think it's exactly the same as the season before.

Maybe that's why Charles Davis is becoming one my favorite "experts" out there. He's not perfect, and I don't always agree with him, but it feels like he does his homework. Not a whole lot of hyperbole in his analysis either.

I don't think it matters in this case how we win. If we win, I hope they play that tape every time he provides such uninformed and idiotic analysis. The one thing I am sure of is that if we do win, it won't be b/c of "Chowder's" play in the game.

That's kind of the irony of it. The more time these guys spend on TV, the less time they have to actually do the research to know what they're talking about when they're on TV. There are a few guys at ESPN who clearly put the work in, Trey Wingo and (love him or hate him) Trent Dilfer being among them. But the big names basically seem to get a briefing book with a few salient points and a few news stories to regurgitate.

I think the answer is that most are not paid to be "experts". They're paid to be entertaining and appear to be "experts". In many ways I see it like professional wrestling. They're paid to put on a show and make it look "real". I think the difference is that unlike professional wrestling, there's a higher percentage of fans that can't tell that these guys don't know jack. Those fans are blinded by the credentials and don't have the skills to actually evaluate the quality of the message. I think more often than not the quality of the message is considered "good" based on whether or not the fan agrees with it. So in that respect, dumping on a team that many similarly uninformed fans will also dump on makes sense from a popularity perspective. BTW, I'm sure that some percentage of the reaction on this board was negative simply b/c people didn't agree, but it just became obvious that TJ was clueless when he tried to provide a little analysis and it proved how little he actually knew about the team.

I agree with the comparison to pro wrestling...and I can completely understand if people doubt this team going into this season. I would just like to hear a little more reasoning than "Chowder can't do it"...haha

All the hatred from the local press and fans gets around, when the fans are chanting Orton Orton who is nothing but second rate QB what do you expect from those two A-holes.

The sheer magnitude of Tom Jackson's idiocy actually makes me question, for the first time ever, whether the Dolphins could actually win this game.

But in the end he'll be right for the wrong reasons, as per usual.
