Yes, and it makes me proud because I like to think we're better than that.

I'd like to thank everyone for discussing the topic like adults, organically neutering the troll thread and making it an actual, thought-provoking discussion. :)

^ Yes George, I would hope that we are better then that. I like to hear from fans from other teams from time to time. As long as they are not trolls breaking the TOS, I'm fine with it. My two cents.

No. nothing to do with the size of the venue.

You missed the part where the season ticket commitments are for 4 years. So the Heat sold 72k season tickets at a higher average price than the Dolphins.

and the Basketball season overlaps for 3 months. 4 months if you count the NFL playoffs.

with this stadium, and the spiraling affect it can have on a fanbase, and the fickled market itself, this fanbase imo, is going down that road if they keep the attitude the currently have.

A higher average price? For the season? I'm assuming a Heat fan is paying for more than eight games with a season ticket. The per game price is higher? The Dolphins have to sell 70K+ tickets just to fill their stadium for a season. You don't see how that's a harder task than selling 72K and calling it good for the next four years? Of course I'm going to be able to sell something for more when I have a good product and I only need to target a quarter of the amount of people. Find 18K Heat fans who can afford it, get a four year commitment, done. If the Dolphins by some miracle win a Super Bowl they'll be selling out no matter what happens with the Heat. The Heat isn't their problem, it's a crappy product.

The stadium has nothing to do with a downward spriral affect on a fanbase. Losing or being mediocre does that.

Winning cures all and if a team shows it belongs in the playoff race the fans will show up if the stadium was just mud and bleachers.

I never said I wont spend money on the Dolphins or the NFL, I'm still going to have 5 tv's going on Sundays. There's a limit that I can spend, or willing to spend. I'll spend 25 bucks on a hat, but not 36. I'm not going to pay 19(ish) on nachos, I can cook a nice lunch/dinner here at home for 25. Why spend 350 for club level seats (Denver), when I can see more of the game on tv and I don't have to fight with traffic?
I love the Miami Dolphins, but I'm only willing to spend a certain amount. I'm not going to over spend.

    the poor house
that is why nobody is picking us to win 500. much less make it to the playoffs. I hate to say this but the heat fans embarassed the NBA in the playoff game because there was more dallas fans in the Heat 's home arena so if you add the horible Heat and Marlin fans but look at the other bad teams they all have better attendence then Miami and that is sad but with the ecconomy I can see why.while we are on this subject do any of you guys know what years that the dolphins had the best attendance ? or which coaches had the better attendance ?

And that's part of the problem. The NFL has slowly priced themselves out of 50% of its fan base, maybe more.
The other part of the problem is the NFL TV experience, with Sunday Ticket and TV production qualities is a better experience than the in-stadium experience is.

the stadium has contributed tremendously to a fanbase that has got no respect since they invented the intimidation rule when the played at the OB...You might think I'am crazy on this but I absolutely believe there is a correlation between poor teams and poor performances at home, and that freakin cancer of a building..The facts and logic of that correlation is very real imo, it has affected the perception of this fanbase, and has shown me so for decades.

worst ticket sales in over 25 years...Sun life continues to win...1 and 7 at home..advantage Sun Life...Tangible energy that can heighten an athletes adrenaline and allow them to perform at a higher cardiac output for longer periods of time? no sir, not gonna happen on that stadium's clock..

I'am not saying its the reason, I'am sayin it's part of...ask the players if you ever get a chance..I have.

right back at ya OZ..wild as hell references make me laugh when it comes to a stadium that cannot play a role in home field advantage..

Why do you think fans sit on their *** at our stadium?...cause they know they can't make an impact...players know it to..and we have seen countless examples of proof.

I've been on the field at both JRS and the Orange Bowl and JRS doesn't compare in terms of fan impact. I'm not saying JRS can't get loud, it can, but the Orange Bowl felt dangerous. With those nearly vertical seats and proximity, the OB felt like a wave of humanity was liable to break over you at any moment.

The Heat won't play until November, if at all. How can that team affect ticket sales in Sep and Oct?

Half the Heat season ticket holders are scalpers and ticket agencies.. Don't think for a second that either fanbase is all that great.. Remember that SOB Mark Cuban punking the team by declaring how easy it was for Dallas fans to fly down and purchase tickets in the lower bowl for game 6 of the NBA Championship?

I don't buy the energy at the stadium reasoning one bit.. I've been to some of the loudest venues and clutch players make clutch plays no matter how loud it is.. Unfortunately it's usually been the opposing team playing on my homecourt..

That's totally untrue! I have the room to talk here having attended games at both places for years. Was the Orange bowl the louder stadium? Yep, when the team was winning and going to the super bowl year in and year out they were. When the team had a down year, it was a hell of a lot more quiet...

All I said was your wrong. Not crazy but saying you laugh at a reference where the place is wild as hell makes me think, you'll just see what you want to see. I've personally been there and was apart of it so ok....

ive been to dozens of games in both places as well, so you don't have an inherent advantage in this debate...I don't see what I want to see,I've have seen enough to know that our stadium affects our fanbase's energy inside the stadium, which in turn, directly affects our players energy levels on the playing field..If you disagree, ok..you wouldn't be the first, and you won't be the last..Doesn't mean it doesn't have a negative impact on our fanbase and team..

I remember Mark Cuban saying that, and him saying it, surely doesn't make it so. In fact, it makes the opposite true. There were 21k people in the stands and the amount of Mavs fans that traveled for game 6 was around 250.

Ticket agencies make up a tiny portion of the season ticket holder base. The number they came up with was around 850. for a 4 year commitment it amounts to under 3,400 tickets at Sun Life. about 6% of the season ticket holder base. Insignificant.

    jeez. quoting MARK CUBAN. lol.

I will give the Dolphins ticket office credit for at least acknowledging the problem and trying to hold on to the season ticket holders they do have.

They offered season ticket holder club seats to one of four games, they've called me several times to see if we want to go on the field pre-game, etc.

I do have an inherent advantage because I've been to over 35 seasons worth of games and I've seen both places rock out! Thats not even debatable. Sorry

When an NFL team has goes 12 straight seasons without really having a team worth a damn, the fans start dropping off like hotcakes and the venues grow much quieter. That goes for almost all teams. With the select few such as GB, Denver, KC, and one or two more...

Well, instead of turning every home game into a celebrity fest with the Williams sisters, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Antony, Gloria and Emilio Estafan, how about putting the focus on FOOTBALL and winning football games and see how quickly all of that turns around.

I agree. This is football at the highest level. You shouldn't need to do all of this to put butts in the seats. Reminds me of the class A baseball team back in Augusta that uses cheap beer promotions to put people in the seats. That's class A baseball, this is the NFL. You don't need gimmicks if you put a team worth a crap on the field.

I'am not disagreeing with either of your statements here...my conviction on this subject goes much deeper than when a team ''doesn't do well fans drop off''..I get that part, and I agree... To me your not understanding what I'am referring to..I'am talking about a tangible flaw in the configuration of the structure that completely puts the players at a disadvantage relative to other home venues, there is no debate when it comes to the comparison of the 2 places, OB and Sunlife, I know you know that, however you don't seem to get what that extra energy can do for morale and adrenaline, and why a fan chooses to sit on their *** rather than get emotionally involved..
