Lots of golden nuggets in there baby..

1} Says he can't remember the last time he has felt this good..

2} Thinks Wake is ridiculous..Predicts 20 sacks for the Kracken..Trade that player for a running back...Child please.

3} Thinks the lockout is gonna hurt teams chemistry etc...My response to that, like ive been saying all offseason, the teams that have been together the most, will be better football teams imo.

    4} Loves VD21 SS24..

5} Says if you think he's lost a step, why don't you come to training camp and watch for yourself on july 28th..

Vontae, Sean, Will, Nolan...Very very nice group with leadership now, and youth on our side..I just love the idea of him being our nickel corner and leader of our young talented corners.

Lots of other stuff for the goody club..

Bad link? The article is about NFL players getting yelled at, not Will Allen.

Is it in the video DJ? Article isn't about Will Allen, as Des said.

Man. Allen should easily replace Sapp. That's a nice group of corners.

Thats why I'am pretty confident he'll stick and improve our team..That position was horrible last year..addition by subtraction, if this mans knee holds were better no doubt..Sapp sucked.

But you're talking about a guy who's only started 6 games in the past two seasons BECAUSE that knee wont hold up. He'll also be 33 when the seasons starts and had already shown in 2008 that he had lost a step on the speed he once possessed. Couple all that stuff with the fact that he has too large a contract for a #4 CB and I just don't see a way that we actually keep him on. He was going to be cut at the start of last season, but we were able to exercise the IR option on him instead.

My bias is you are probably right, however WA is one of those guys coaches love, smart smart football player, knows things if he shows an aptittude for blitzing off of the edge he'll stick.

    Slightly left of center
He already had an aptitude for blitzing, got there better than 1/2 the time to at least throw the timing off. Something Ybell is pretty good at too, but our D doesn't seem to call it much.
    And yeah Allen>Sapp

exactly, its all about the upgrade at the position, and he is that at nickel.

But he did redo his contract right before the lockout. It's much more friendly towards the cap and they don't have a ton of Cb's

Allen's new contract is for $1.5M this year. Sapp is $1.9M. No contest.

Sapp and Culver are probably gone. Considering that, I think he could play some nickel because it requires more lateral and short area quickness rather than straight line speed. Culver played limited last year as well. Between Allen and Carroll, they could fill what Culver and Sapp did at probably a higher level for a lower cost.

To me, that's a pretty big if. He hasn't been able to the last couple of years. I would love to have him healthy again though. I would be thrilled to have him over Sapp.

That's what I recalled. Allen is better than Sapp and cheaper. The only reason to keep Sapp over him is age and maybe injury concern, but with a full year off I don't see that as a realistic concern. My guess is that Allen sticks.

i think they like having Smith in the middle in the nickel, his size is such a bonus there .... Carroll can move to one of the corners or WA if you wish ... the difference this year will be the addition of Edds on passing downs (or every down as far as i'm concerned). Having both Edds and Smith in the middle in the nickel will be most welcome.

i am in the minority -- but still believe Carroll will take over Smith's CB spot eventually. Between Carroll and the new comer Wilson .... it would seem that Sapp and Ness will be indeed fighting for a spot on the roster, and i doubt they'll stick.

WA's destiny would be tied to health and $$$$ .... CB is a position of strength as far as i'm concerned on this D (along with DL). It's S and OLB that will be our achilles heal on D.

If Allen's knee is healthy, no doubt he is the better player. I just don't think we can know for sure, no matter what he says, till he goes out and proves it.

I agree, think Carroll had a fine rookie season and showed he can play boundary corner, also think his rookie yr progress is kind of overlooked in Henne Mania.

Can never have to many Db's who can play.

Do think they should take him off of kick off returns simply because his running style will lead to concussions and it simply not worth risking his health on that unit.

WA is a very very effective blizting Cb, hope he is 100% and playing on the slot receiver as he just has the knack for getting into the backfield and disrupting plays.

I knew you liked Carroll but I didn't think you would go as far as saying he would eventually beat out Smith...That is some projection there ComPadre, and Phinanalyst.

I think everyone is forgetting about Jimmy Wilson and I think that's a huge mistake. I love Will Allen, but I wouldn't be shocked to see Jimmy pass Sapp/Carroll and push Will for that 3rd CB position.

That will be the key, but since he sat so long you have to like his chances. I recall him saying he was ready to go around the middle of last year.

I mean, what the hell is the point of doing that? Should I bring back this thread if we re-sign him after the season starts ?

Thanks for not quoting me. Sapp did have a sick Int against ATL. He looked like a WR on this play after making a nice stop the play before.
