I'd like to thank Daboll for a lot of the improvement, but really, Henne spent most of the off season time, organizing and running players only workouts, with Jake, so apparently he recognized on his own where he needed to improve, or else Daboll was communicating with him on the down low too.
Some guys here were saying that at the time, that Henne organizing and running workouts would help him, I think DJ to his credit was the most vocal, but the naysayers poo pooed such nonsense.
I watched Feinga closely when he comes in, and to me, he ranks right after Carey for worst OL we currently have. From what I can tell reviewing the games so far, Matt Kopa is far better. Allen Barbre is better. WTF do I know though, Kopa never played against Tampa, that I noticed anyway.
henne's performance improves as the offensive line deteriorates? go figure. I say fix the offensive line & let the henne make his statement on a level playing field. no one can run an offense behind what Sparano has put up front the NFL defenses will shred henne to pieces before he can actually fish or cut bait. the rubric has changed, the weakest link is obviously the offensive line
Thanks for the vid. Very encouraged by Henne's game and the offensive approach. Run game needs to be cleaned up but the one thing i did notice that i liked was the down the field blocking by our WRs and TEs. Thats the kind of thing that turns first downs into big gains/TDs.
The dude took a playbook, a high school football field, a weight room, and some grown *** men, and took responsibility of himself getting better and his offense...As far as I'am concerned, he gets the credit, and, the coaches owe him bigtime.
Yup..if he's able to keep it going and has himself a nice regular season, and we have a winning record, he might have saved some coaches hides despite the fact they tried to replace him all off-season.
I loved how much speed Marshall gained by the stiff arm too. The Dback who was chasing was left in his dust. It was as if the stiff arm catapulted him to the endzone.
I find myself laughing at the stiff arm thrown by Marshall (TD play) like "get away from me *****"....funny how we forget just how strong THAT guy is with the ball in his hands... mind you that was Quincy Black he tossed away as well....
Being back home, can't WAIT to see us open up Monday Night Football...Man Cave, cold beer, life is wonderful!!! Something I noticed and I don't know if anyone else caught it, but noticed how Henne was letting the ball fly, going for some deep pass plays and because of that, the secondary was having to show that respect, so when Henne dumped it underneath, he was picking the Buccaneer defense apart. MUCH improved offense from last year.
In the words of Sparano: "I'm beginning to feel him out there a little bit". I think the most impressive throw to me was on the Marshall fumble. The DE (#91) was ALL OVER Henne, and he is mindful enough to keep the ball low and get it out there to Marshall quickly. That was really nice. I could not really tell if the DE was actually in his face because of the angle, but it sure looked that way. Very nice!
This is a very telling statement statement IMO. Shouldn't Henne have been in positions for Sparano to "begin feeling him out" a long time ago? What I'm saying is------ we're lucky Daboll took over this offense before Henning permanently ruined Henne.
For a minute, let's take a step back from the obvious improvements Chad Henne has made. The new energy and fire he plays with now, the leadership, the quickness, the reads, the audibles, let's put that aside for one minute. This was a guy who was bruised, battered and beaten for a long period of time. Both on and off the field. The coaching staff abandoned him last season, the fans and media turned on him, and even his teammates gave up on him. And this continued through the offseason as well. Chad Henne deserves credit and respect for what he's been doing. He didn't give up and worked his *** off to become a better player and the leader this team needs on offense. He could have been bitter and distant but he kept working and working and working. He took the bull by it's horns and organized practices during the lockout, all while everyone wanted a different QB. I am really rooting hard for him to succeed here. I have always believed in him and the work that he put in when he could have easily faded away just shows me the kind of HEART he has, and no one can tell me any different. Go get 'em Chad. Keep up the good work and show the haters why you're here.
Ya I become a big fan of his again this off-season. Sucks to be in the spot he was in (except the cash obviously), but he found his way.
