He'd be a fine #3 Te/FB tbh, good STer as well http://www.macsfootballblog.com/2011/08/dolphins-add-s-gerald-alexander.html
I just don't get it none of this make sense to me I feel like I'm in the shopping mall with my wife please Coach Sparano, fix the Offensive Line
He started 3 games for the Jags last year and did little of nothing, and no action on ST. Maybe a Culver replacement???
It does look like a replacement for an injured player or to replace a cut player yet to be announced .
When the Panther's signed S Gerald Alexander in 2010 one of their bloggers wanted some info on him from the Jags. Here's what the Jags fans had to say... http://www.bigcatcountry.com/2010/11/24/1833752/can-i-get-a-report-on-gerald-alexander Sounds like He's a hard hitting playmaker that doesn't excel in pass or run coverage. Hopefully he's not the same player for us.
Not thread worthy of itself, but the Broncos are becoming more depleted on the Dline as things move along, and Merling played a lot last night..
per rotoworld: Dolphins signed S Gerald Alexander, formerly of the Jaguars. A 10-game starter in 2009, Alexander was out of the league for the majority of last season. He won't be guaranteed a roster spot in Miami. Source: Ben Volin on Twitter Aug 28 - 3:26 PM
OMG The front office signed a FS, which is a position of need for us. WOE! DOOM! Our front office is only allowed to look for one thing at a time. They can't walk and chew gum at the same time. It is impossible that they could be negotiating with OL prospects whilst they sign a FS.
I like this grab. Something must be done back there and this shows real initiative by the FO to fix it. Maybe this will finally be the end of the aged Yeremiah Bell. Either way, the competition at the S position just got a little harder. This was a good grab that can do nothing but help us. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/825003-miami-dolphins-sign-veteran-safety-gerald-alexander
I cannot recall if it was 2006 or 2007, when Boise St played Oregon, and their DBs coming in on blitzes knocked 2 or 3 QBs out for the game. Some of the hits drew 15 yd penalties, but the officials didn't kick any of them out of the game. There were some mean nasty hitters in that Boise St secondary and if it was 2006 then Alexander was one of them.
We need a competent starting free safety. Hopefully Alexander can be that. I was pretty dispirited when we neglected to sign one of the many talented safeties on the market this year. Let's see what Alexander brings.
What happened to everybody who was complaining that we haven't had a free safety worthy of the name for the past two years?
"Competent"? I've criticized Chris Clemons for being step-late on several passes (going back to Clemson days) but he's hardly incompetent which you are implying.
