I definitely think people will pay that. I've got both Directv and a PS3. If I ever wanted to tell DTV to screw off and go to Verizon (FIOS here with the internet and all) I can pay a much cheaper amount to bundle those services together (phone, internet, TV) than what I'm paying now. However, I still prefer DTV over Verizon due to the quantity of HD channels.... and I couldn't switch if I wanted to as I'm hooked into a 2 year plan (for another what 19 months now I think)....The $339 is very close to what DTV charges me before my discounts that I get. Certainly, if I lived in an area where DTV wasn't an option (don't laugh, people in some condo complexes have strict homeowners rules prohibiting satellite dishes) and I had a PS3, I'd be stoked.
Wait, so you have to have DirecTV? Or not? If so why is there an extra $50 fee? So you can watch it via your PS3 instead of the satellite that will do the exact same thing? Am I missing something because this seems ******ed.
and now I'm hearing that if you aren't currently subscribed to Sunday Ticket, you can get it for $50 for the PS3 as long as you're a DTV subscriber. oh boy.

This is fantastic news for me. I'm up in gainesville and most of the time the game that TV plays is Jacksonville. My parents already have sunday ticket and I've been using the to-go service in order to watch the phins. Now i'll actually get to watch it in HD on my TV rather than my laptop
If this was for X-Box, I'd strongly consider going in on it with a Dolphins fan I go to the sports bar with. It seems like this will be a hit for the college scene, IMO.
No argument over the insanity of lemmings. I pay $100/season for access to every Baseball game (out of market)....yet for only 17wks of Football, and knowing the DISCOUNTS for signing up for DTV/Sunday Tkt or claiming you will cancel and getting discounts, they want 3x's that to a brand new market potential. Heck, to capture a larger audience if you will, offer it for a more reasonable price to the PS3 owners at a reasonable Discount to the average of your DTV discounts. Or a trial to start even....something. So, for instance, I have MLB.TV contract via my main CPU. Can use the same account into any other media source w/internet connection (Laptop, my Android phone, and My PS3 with no extra fees).
I thought the To Go / Mobile option was an addition to the Sunday Ticket. ie. you have to be a sunday ticket subscriber to get the $50 option to add on for the mobile functionality? It really seems that the PS3 scenario is an either or choice for DTV subscribers. I might do this next year, wait and see what the reviews are for those that are using the PS3 option. Because it does add up to a pretty big savings if I'm seeing this correctly...
It's not. I don't know how to make this clearer: the ps3 is merely another delivery platform the the To Go/Mobile option for people who already have NFL Sunday Ticket, just like the PC, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab, etc. If you don't have DTV, you can pay the $340 and gain access via the ps3.
Well, this is interesting. I want Sunday Ticket, but don;t care to pay $80 a month for DirectTV on top of it. It may make sense for me to pay the one time $340. That's about 4 months of my DirectTV bill (without Sunday ticket). So if I can cancel Direct TV, then Sunday ticket pays for itself by the end of December, and after that I'm not tied in to any monthly bill to DTV. Man. If it were $250 this would be a slam dunk. $340 is just enough for me to have to weigh the options. (like do I think this team and staff will be enjoyable enough to be worth that money, or will it be heartbreak and disappointment again)
that's my point also!!! and one of those options is same ol same ol of Business As Usual. Not worry and live with Natl broadcast, enjoy RedZone channel, head to sports bar a few weeks, or stream when available.
I think I'll cut my DTV and try for underground streams first. See how that goes. If week one is not satisfying, then I can always plunk down the money for PS3 Sunday ticket before week two. I was holding off on cutting my sattelite because I didn;t want them to take the receiver, uninstall everything (hit me with fees, surely), and then in week two need to have them come back and re-hook everything (with more fees) and maybe getting stuck into a long contract again. Since it's as easy as starting to watch it on the PS3 that already resides in my living room, it frees me to try free streams first and have an easy backup plan if I just can;t handle it.
I am just going to give my sister 50$ and use it for my PS3. But man I pay for MLB.tv and I can never complain about the price again. 120 is a fair price and is the cheaper then NHL package and now Football.
How does one with DTV/ST sign up for this $50 option? If I can find someone willing to do this, whats the process from their end?
Ok, and this would make sense to them? Its a logical option for those with ST? STTG is an option? Then I presume its username and password for PS3 login of the NFL application? just like my MLB.TV app off PS3?
To Go likely doesn't make sense for a lot of people to have. It works for me because I travel for work and sometimes that involves Sunday travel (plus I can watch a game on my PC while watching another game on my TV if there are two on I'm interested in). If the interface is anything on ps3 like it is for PC, then IIRC you have to use the DTV's account holder's e-mail and password to login.
I watch all the games at a bar. I generally spend on average $30 a week to go to the bar. I go at least 12 weeks to the bar if I discount weeks that I miss. Which costs me around $360. Not a bad price.

You should be able to, yes. Last year for two or three weeks when I was home I allowed a friend to watch on their PC.

That's not true. From DTV's website: Can I get NFL SUNDAY TICKET™ To-Go without subscribing to NFL SUNDAY TICKET™? No. A subscription to NFL SUNDAY TICKET™ is required for NFL SUNDAY TICKET™ To-Go. I used To-Go last year through my dad's account. He lives in California and I live in New York. Wasn't a problem. Just needed his DTV login and password. Last year To-Go was free for Sunday Ticket subscribers though. Pretty disappointing that they are charging this year, but I'm happy they added the PS3 option. With MLBtv, the quality is a lot better via the PS3 rather than the website.
Yeah the quality with hooking up your PC to your TV to watch the games vs PS3 is a difference. PS3 has great quality for games
This is actually a damn good option for people who don't want to go the Direct TV route. Living in Canada I've had Sunday Ticket on cable for 15 years, as I will again this year. $160.00 plus tax for the season this year, all HD and the Red Zone channel. It's always been a good deal up here, especially living on the West Coast out of the local market. Out here we get the national games and all the West Coast teams for free, I'd maybe get to see the Phins 4 times a year without Sunday Ticket.
