Tell that to the Packers who had Chad Clifton and no one else. Offensive line isn't the key to winning a super bowl. QB, Pass Rush and Pass Coverage are the keys. And the ability to run the ball late in a game when you have the lead.

    Friend Trowa: got a point
    however usually
you'll find an elite offense built around an elite offensive line
it is a crucial & often under-rated component in the game

there are very few RB's or QB's that can achieve greatness behind a mediocre offensive line

    what's the point?

We aren't a true Super Bowl contending team. We have no QB. It's been 10+ years since Marino retired and still no QB. I've no interest in making the playoffs again just to get bounced in the 1st round again.

I have no idea how the Miami Dolphins have gone 10 years and haven't sacrificed for a franchise Quarterback.

I guess it falls on terrible owners.... who turned around and played musical chairs with Head Coaches.... Saban picking a washed up Culpepper over Drew Brees.....then running from town......Cam Cameron wasting our pick on Ted Ginn and leaving our QB issue for a "2nd round bargain bin" John Beck......... Parcells doing the same thing........

Just once I'd love to see the team go for broke and acquire a franchise QB. Preferably through the draft.

no, the defense won't carry us anywhere. If we can't score points when we need them, we are nothing.

    Friend electrolyte:
what we really need is to finish developing the rest of the team this year & acquire Andrew Luck in the next draft

I don't believe Chad Henne has to have (or has the capacity for) an elite 2011 season
    having said that
    1) I could be wrong & would be thrilled to be proven wrong. however, he doesn't need to be all that to make it to postseason
    2) if Henne has a yeoman-like performance & manages the team well, I believe we go to post season
    3) this is most talent Miami has assembled in decades. the dolphins are poised to strike, it would be a shame to waste an opportunity

You don't need an all-decade generational defense to make the playoffs. The defenses you mentioned were SB winning defenses. IMO our defense was good enough to carry a team to the playoffs at the end of last season. In fact, I would say they were playing better than the Jets over the second half of the season.

I would say passing and defending the pass. You can get there several ways, but all the teams that win do those things better than their opponents.

I believe this is the over-all best talent Miami has sported on a team in decades
all Chad Henne has to do is put in a yeoman-like performance & we're in the play-offs
& I believe with the up-graded surrounding offensive cast, Henne will manage just fine
just a little concerned about getting the offensive line right, but not overly concerned
there's serious talent available & the offensive line is one thing Sparano really knows

I believe this is an opportunity we cannot let slip away... no more excuses!
Dolphin Heaven in 2011:dolphin:We will make the play-offs!
    Yes, we're serious under-dogs & I wouldn't have it any other way.

The Jets have made into the playoffs two years in a row with a below average QB. I agree it takes a VERY GOOD defense, but not an all-decade generational defense ( unless you would categorize the Jets of the past two season in that class ).

Only if he talked about going to the superbowl. He is off when it comes to talking about the playoffs.

I see it as Long, Incognito, Pouncey, Carey and Murtha with Pouncey doing most of the pulling.

The best news out of camp so far is that Murtha seems to be handling Jake’s spot with ease. RT should be a walk in the park for the kid.

As far as the defense carrying the team, I say absolutely. The addition of Burnett shouldn’t be understated. The dude was one of the best players on the best defense in the NFL last year and established himself as a veteran leader when he hazed Odrick on his first day here.

IMHO, all Henne has do is throw to his teammates or throw it away.

Sparano's tendency in the past is to sit on a lead, if he doesn't change then we'll have to ride our defense...LOL at naming 3 different all-decade teams in the same decade, though.

Jest have seriously contended for the SB the last two yrs with little else but a good Defense and a mediocre Qb who got hot in the postseason, the key is of course, making the playoffs and winning a game or two.

Please share with us what team(s) in the history of the NFL has gone from the first pick in the draft to a Superbowl contender in 3 years.

If only Cameron had taken Quinn instead of Ginn we could be rid of all of these nonsensical posts.

IMO the main differences between us and the Jets the last two seasons was coaching and their use of complementary talents. They did a better job of developing and protecting their young QB and a netter job of putting talent out there that worked well together and created better spacing.

that could work out just fine.
Poncey already has plenty of experience pulling @ Center & I've always liked Murtha.
    having said that
I still think Carey will return to left tackle in the starting lineup
& the changes will come through competition @ the guard position

however it ends up, we've got the talent & coach to assemble an elite offensive line
