Mike Irvin just interviewd Odrick and MCD and literally was at a loss for words as to how big, and how in shape these 300 pounders were, ''WOW, AND UNBELIEVABLE'' were some words he used..The players commented about how the rest of the team, oline, dbacks, dline, is in great shape, are moving quickly, and hitting fast, and attributed it to the teams comittment during the offseason.

Irvin's also facinated with Kevin Burnetts leadership capabilities..This burnett dude is really a confident football player, and has come in and is projecting his leadership immediately, MCD says he's fast, he can cover, he can make plays behind the LOS, and he can trow his body in the gap, called him a bigtime upgrade.

Odrick says he walked into his first team meeting, took Crowders spot next to Odrick, took Odricks chair, then told him after that he would buy him a steak dinner as they joked, lol..This dude is all business..

Burnett says this team is going to be mentally and physically tougher than their opponents because thats what Sparano demands, and what kind of coach he is.. imo, that's what i've seen from this team since the rebuild..I'am always confident no matter who we play, or where, that no team will outphysical us {I think we all saw that last year}, we've seen that tangible evidence transpire on the field, its a feeling that ive never had before as a fan of this team and gives me the optimism I have that if we can sure up those distinct weaknesses, [which we did on paper} that were talent related, were the most underated team in football, and our gonna suprise the league..Bush..JT..Burnett..Gates..better special team players...Contributing rookie skillsets, all directly addressed those weaknesses..JT, Bush, and Burnett address our 3 most prominent imo..Players that we have a good idea about.

Hartline is very focused this year, feels like their trio could be special..

A football team that was locked out, took care of themselves because of their coach..I respect that..and I think it will have impact on our team.

If I'am Sparano, I get Mike Irvin to come in and speak with this team, I know he's a little rough around the edges on the radio, but still, get him in the locker room.

I liked Burnett's explanation of what makes Reggie Bush such a game changer for the Defense, changes the angles you have to take, changes the way you have to run your coverage schemes.

Hmm..is K Burnett our Bart Scott?

For me there's always been a certain amount of good and bad with Sparano. I love the overall blue collar mentality he brings to the team. I expect his teams to be tough (mentally and physically) and to be well conditioned. However, I see the offense in particular to be so lax on the details. In my experience that's usually on the coaches. I am hoping that it was a Henning thing vs. a Sparano thing and I do recall hearing that Henning was given complete control of the offense so there is some basis for that hope. I think this year will be very telling. I want to see us actually execute play action fakes and god-forbid even run an effective screen pass. You have no idea how happy it would make me to see Miami run a perfectly executed screen.

I hope Irvin is right about the conditioning. Sparano seems to be taking it easy on veterans this year more than usual. Brandon Marshall is healthy but he was scratched one day along with other veterans just to give them the day off. That doesn't sound like Sparano. Normally I'd be all about that kind of thing but this off season there were no OTAs, no conditioning program, etc...and something really jumped out at me when one of our local reporters said that the offense was pounding the ball up the middle and he said it seemed like the DL was wearing out because the runs started to go for bigger gains.

Memories of Camp Cameron are still fresh in my mind, how we got to the season opener against Washington and the players barely made it through four quarters, and didn't make it through overtime without completely dying out.

That was one of the fears I had. If Irvin's right, then I can put that to bed. We'll see.

    That's my dog!

    Err...wait a minute...

Speaking of his confidence, he said "I've made the playoffs 3 times, I have had enough of making the playoffs, let's get in and win"

Rare for a sparano drone to be bold, but he is new here...

The Dolphins are in the same boat as the other 31 teams on this. The coaches haven't been around the players for the past 5 months and the injury risk has got to be much greater as a result. I think it is prudent to take some precautions.................

Secondly, while I think Irvin is a great motivational guy, I think it is very easy for him to lose his perspective when trying to analyze things. I don't really put a lot of faith in his analysis - he's way too swayed by his emotions. (Although I do hope he is right about the team's conditioning level.)

I see CK's point, but because Sparano didn't have the exact pulse of the teams conditioning, it seems that easing their way into this is the right way to go this year, especially if he has looked at the team as a whole, assessed their level of shape, respects it relatively speaking, and takes this route..

I have mentioned this before when I thought it happened, but I will say it again..imo Sparano peaked his team to early in a past camp, and payed for it..

I think he wants to build their legs up and peak for the first quarter of the season, and do as much as possible to stay away from some injuries that could be caused by pushing players who are not quite at peak condition based on lack of offseason activity, relatively speaking..

We still have a month to go ya know..Lets have our legs when we start the season and not before..I think it is a science, and the approach to reach the pinnacle at the right time needs to be respected.

Just a great summary on Sparano. Nailed it.

Hopefully Daboll will have BB's passion for detail this year. After all, he was on the staff of the Patriots for all three SB wins. That attention to detail really is one of the things that separates BB from the rest. Wouldn't that be a surprising but great thing for us?

(we can always hope for and pray for miracles - sometimes they do happen ...)

DJ , here's hoping .We thought much the same last year however and this team faded terribly down the stretch and let's be blunt gave up in the NE game , so while all or a lot may look good , proof will be on the field and the end result.
