I read that Sparano said Odrick was in "unbelievable" shape and that he applied some pressure, but I haven't read anything about Edds.
Good, even just Odrick contributing will go a long way to making our defense that elite defense we all are hoping for.
I read the same about Odrick; no indication of anything on the field, though. Odd that we haven't heard a thing about Edds; I have such high hopes for that kid.
Omar said Odrick seemed to look good when in with McDaniel today. havint heard anything good or bad about Edds though.
Yeah with Odrick, we know he can play, its a matter of staying healthy. Edds got hurt so early in camp last year, we really know very little about him. Will be interesting to see Nastys report. Hopefully he sees this thread and watches for them specifically.
Odrick looks really quick. Looks a little light to me (Ika Alma Francis looks much bigger than him when next to each other), so I'm curious how he's going to hold up against the run. However, I think he's going to be be very effective on 3rd downs.
HTML: He either did it to punish the fans... or to try to insulate Henne from more possible heckling. I'm thinking it's the latter... but who knows.
Either way, a ***** move; a bigger man would practice right up on the fans, and afterward he'd wade right into the crowd, shaking hands and making friends. But Coach Meathead just keeps adding on to the battlements between the team and the fans who make it ALL possible. These are the people who pay all the freight, but he prefers to treat them with disdain than even attempt to win them over. If I were Ross, I'd give him a direct order to do exactly what I said, every time he was in front of fans.
FWIW... that wasn't the first practice I've been to where they practice on the far field... including multiple regimes...
Yah, last time I was able to attend TC practices (2007), I'd go three days a week and every time they practiced on the far field until late in camp...I don't think its premeditated to punish the idiots...I mean fans that booed Henne. Where and when they practice has been scheduled for a long time...
Shhh... don't tell people that. It takes away an opportunity to complain about something. If I'm the coach, I'd much rather have my team practicing away from the fans and media as well. Keep away from the distractions, you can keep some signals you may be using more under wraps from a further distance etc. etc. I don't see the big deal.
Odrick is a motor guy with talent but he isn't freakishly strong enough to bulldoze guys, nor freakishly fast enough to beat guys off the edge a lot. He will disrupt and make stats because he is strong enough, fast and qucik enough, and has a GREAT motor that'll put him in the right place at the right time. Is it just me or does Odrick & Edds sound like a eatery that serves omlettes, beer and billiards?
Anyone get the feeling that if Sparano had the team move right next to the fans, we'd hear, "Sparano is an idiot. Because of the lockout, they don't have time to deal with shattered egos. And why the hell would you move a young QB near riotous fans and potentially damage his confidence. Its bush league tactics like that make him an out of touch asshat."
I think because SO much focus has been on the QB situation, even on the defensive side the media is tending to notice passing-related play (DBs). Not a lot of focus on running and LBs. Also because there have not been many padded practices and after the long lockout coaches seem to be more cautious about how soon to get contact going... you'll hear a lot more about RBs and LBs once there is heavier contact in practices.
Why the #$@# is meathead eating at McDonalds doesn't that dumb#@$ know that the Whopper is where it is at? He probably ordered a pepsi, @##$@.
Odrick was pretty good in the camp I attended today. McDaniel and Odrick seemed to rotate as a package deal with Langford and Starks, and then Merling rotated with some guy who will probably not make the roster. McDaniels kind of outshined him beating up Matt Kopa pretty bad. Edds "started" with Dansby out, but he didn't end up playing the Nickel package, instead they had Sean Smith playing the old Yeremiah Bell linebacker position, and it was mostly the Nickel package on the field.
Oh darn, the conspiracy theory that they were using the far field to punish the boo bird fans, sounded so much more fun.
I don't understand how come Edds pronounces his name as if it were spelled Eeds or Eads. Edds should sound multiple talking horses if you put a Mr. in front of it.
Before Burnett was able to practice and after Crowder was cut, Edds was mentioned as running with the 1st team. Then with Dobbins getting cut, that is also a show of confidence in Edds.
Please stay healthy Odrick. We can have the top run defense. Think we should have an improved pass D, hope Allen stays healthy for great depth. Hopefully our defense helps us hold leads so we can run the ball more late in games so Henne doesn't have a chance to make those poor throws he did against Browns/Bills/Lions.
