Also, for a guy who's not the fleetest of foot, the speed of the game -- and specifically this defense -- is probably something's he's still adjusting to.

    All rookies do.

I definitely don't mind the team bringing in a veteran back for a look but imo I find it hard to believe that Tikki brings much more to the table than Ricky. Plus Ricky is a Fins player already and has chemistry with the team to start with. I don't see Tikki as much of an upgrade and think it's kinda dumb to not just give Lex a chance to produce or just sign Ricky back

Oh I understand that... It's just with Brown you saw him "truck" defenders constantly in college... I haven't seen that from Thomas. So to me.. if Thomas didn't do it in college then the chances of him doing it in the NFL are much lower. That was my point.

Hence the reason I can't see the power comparison between Thomas and Brown like many have stated. I just don't see it... it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.. it just means I haven't seen it with my own eyes.

IMO Thomas isn't even on the same page when it comes to power back as Ronnie was. Brown got the shaft from this team and I for one think it was effed up! I understand the injury issues but that aside he was a dynamic RB. Had we been better set up to use him effectively last year I think he would have been great. His YPC were destroyed by being constantly tackled in the backfield in the Wildcat formation last year. Half of his gains came from breaking tackles and making his own yards

Not sure, but I think it's desperation for any sort of improvement.

The whole see them play thing ophinerated, so much blah blah prior to actually watching them play sometimes, not from you, just in general, keep in mind Wake did not impress Omar or 'Mando in Camp 09, Omar thought Misi was dude in 10 and they actually watched the practices.

Are practices overrated? I think they are, I think they happen in such a limited environment that a player can flash a bit, but you'll never really know how they will do based on them.

The only way you can "see" that improvement is at least in the preseason, my goodness we added Reggie Bush, who is the #1 rb in receiving TD's over his time in the NFL, and the move is bashed off of the bat?

I hope people can understand Snyder a little better now, "winning" the preseason really matters to some people..at that moment in time, when the games start all of the strategizing and "shoulda coulda woulda's" from the preseason period mean not a damn thing.

I think people like the Bush move, but don't trust him as the feature back. I'm in that category, love having a speedy option especially that Henne can dump the ball off to, but as the main running back? Not sold on that with his history.

I don't base any of my opinions off of the press. I will only base them off of what I see. I will take what others see into account because I am human and someone might see something I didn't... but I would never take what one person saw and formulate my opinion around that alone.

I agree with practices being overrated when it comes to evaluating player footage. Mainly because we don't truly know at the time exactly what they are practicing since we are not apart of it. We can try to interpret it based off of prior experience but even then we can very well be wrong. That's why I base my opinion on actual game footage, not scrimmage, not preseason, etc. Even then... what I see and what was actually supposed to happen could be entirely different. So I look for individual versus individual, styles, tendencies, etc. And to me Thomas does not have a tendency to try to run over a defender... nor when he does try, does he do it with the authority that Brown did it. There is a big visual difference in tendencies and results between the two. Brown was/is a true power back, Thomas not so much in my eyes.

Wow, this thread is a whole lot more reasonable than I expected to be.

Also note the Dolphins have two assistant coaches in Ike Hilliard and Dave DeGuglielmo with ties to Barber. It's quite possible they are simply paying a professional courtesy to Barber, who is attempting a comeback and has been completely forgotten in the rush of free agency(probably for good reason).

There's also the information milking...as PFT noted, Barber earlier in his career looked a whole lot like Reggie Bush does now.

Fair enough, and he won't be a "feature back" not a chance, now consider what he is really doing here, along with two clones in Grigsby and Sheets, they have a specific role in the offense that is different from the offense we had in 2010.

Bush is the guy the role was designed for (people forget how much Sparano and Peyton worked together in Dallas) and he was the best one to fill it.

    Overeaction? Why?

    Gee lets see.....

We are a young team with a lot of unknown commodities at certain positions.
One of those positions is RB and we are supposed to be a team that builds it's success upon a successful running game.

We currently have zero proven commodities at the RB position, their have been a plethora of AFFORDABLE RB options available in FA along with a player we know very well that is still available and who do these numbnuts bring in to work out and consider but a retired RB.

    Are you kidding me?
