Funny thing is, I never really thought of JT as "All time" but 7 away from moving into what..#5 all time?
JT > Strahan, IMO. JT has better stats all across the board. If he retires at the end of this season, he might be a few sacks behing Strahan, but he defended the run better than Strahan and he has made more game changing plays. Strahan, however, has a SB ring, which makes all the difference in the world.
He would need 9 to move into a tie for 5th wouldn't he? 5 Michael Strahan 141 1/2 8 JASON TAYLOR 132 1/2
Considering that our greatest player doesn't have a ring, it's weird a dolphin fan say this... Rings don't make someone great. Rings make teams great. And tbh, rings making the difference only seems to count with QB for some reason. Looking at the list, can anyone deny Bruce Smith? I can't, and he's a dirty Bill.
Yep it would take 9 to tie for 5th. JT may not have the Ring, but he does have a DPOY Award to go with his numbers too. That has to count for something. By the way, while we're on the subject of rings, I think that as any kind of a yardstick is about as meaningless as a argument as I have ever heard for HOF consideration. Football is a team sport and a SuperBowl win is a team accomplishment more than any other. 1 person does not win a SuperBowl, it takes 52 other people plus the coaches to get it done. A ring as a yardstick is meaningless.
What is surprising to me is, as much of a self promoter as JT can be, I've never really heard him say a peep about his career stats, I guess that is one of the reasons why this never really stuck in my head, his next sack he breaks the tie with O'Neal and LT?
That he does, actually he only needs a half a sack. I would love to replace my sig with a picture of Wake and Taylor crushing Brady on our opening night! The man has had a great career. I am looking forward to his induction. It may take a while but, it should happen. Of course there are others out there that you would think would be in, but still haven't. I hope he makes it.
I was thinking the same thing, JT gets to Brady a couple of times, if it is a Brady Sammie with Wake on the other side...nice. At first I did not like this offseason, I thought Irish was to placid when it came to some moves he could have made, but lately I've been warming up to it, I think moving Carey to RG tipped the scale for me, now we at least can mash people in the running game to generate offense.
