http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/08/03/we-want-orton-chants-make-tony-sparano-sick/ I gotta agree with TS on this one
Considering we just came off probably the slowest activity on record from thephins.com due to the lockout, its time to dust off the servers haha
Good for Tony coming out and backing up his players, especially Henne. Glad he had the balls to say it in public and put those fans in their places. Nicely done tony!
Tony is right. 4 practices in and a bunch of numbnuts are raining down boo's and calling for a QB not even on our roster. Classless.
Don't get me wrong, I am not happy about the Qb situation in the least, but that was just plain wrong.
considering they boo'd Henne when he was trying to lead us to victory last season, the last game of the year, speaks volumes for some of our fanbase. Inbreds.
Exactly, I like Henne although I do wish we had someone better, but to chant for someone elses QB who isnt even that much better at the 4th practice after a lockout? What a joke.
We have the right to express our feelings, we have been Dolphins Fans way Longer that Tony has, Coach needs to suck it up and take it like a Big boy. He knows he is on a short leash and what he needs to understand, just because he was an good O-line coach doesnt make him a Good Head Coach. Deal with it, Dolfans have the right to ***** and complain its our Money that pays there salaries... And for those who want to Suck for Luck, you want to gamble on Luck who never has played and NFL game. Geez we might need to trade some of our fans too...
Not to defend the booing necessarily but if Tony wants people to support Henne he probably should avoid benching him and then having the organization very publically try to replace him during the beggining of camp.
SS24 stepping up for Henne, I like it as I have my doubts about Henne but his teammates are not exactly rallying around him most of the time.
Can you blame him? I don't really like that they booed the hell out of Chad Henne and the coaching staff, but one can see why they did that. You don't go after Orton hard and present Chad Henne (whom noone seems to like) to your fans.
Good for Tony putting those classless *** holes in their places. I think it is no different than the idiots that wear bags over their heads at games.
LOL Orton or Luck and you go Orton? LMAO. so you are ok with an avg qb whose fans of the team he plays for cant wait to get rid of him as much as some want Henne gone vs actually drafting a franchise calibur qb? LOL nothing else needs said
I'd say Sparano should just keep quiet until he can improve on a 1-7 home record, or back-to-back seasons with 0-3 finishes down the stretch, or he himself might be the target of a chant. Same for Henne, just play better.
WHOOP WHOOP. I smell hypocrisy. Talking trade with the Broncos and getting into contract discussions with Kyle Orton, sniffing every available quarterback under the sun, that's right as rain. But when the fans actually have an opinion, that's just SICK! LOL. Not surprising. I don't particularly care what he says, nor do I have a problem with it. It's his job to defend his player. I'm glad he heard the fans and acknowledged them, truth be told. These guys go to great lengths to insulate themselves and make the fans/media irrelevant to them or what they do. They view the fans like the machines in the Matrix view human beings. Batteries. Batteries don't have opinions. Batteries show up and give us the charge we need, when we need it, regardless of whether we deserve it. But just this once those batteries had a voice and they were heard, and I'm glad of it.
If I was shelling the cash for season tickets I could understand the frustration. I don't think the chant was productive, but I understand it.
I'm also glad Sean Smith responded on this. But again, the hypocrisy stands out to me. This is the same guy that during the off season tweeted back and forth with Vontae Davis in a way that made it clear, without saying directly (for fear of the Dolphins getting on him) that he feels Miami has no quarterback. Luckily, I don't ask my Head Coach nor my starting Corner to not be hypocrites. They can be what they want to be, just be good at football.
I don't think anyone wants to suck for luck but I also don't believe that anyone feels we are a Marc Bulger or Matt Hasselbeck away from the playoffs either. Either Henne sucks and we have a better chance at Luck or Henne shows improvement and we have a shot at the playoffs. Orton would be an upgrade over Henne no doubt but I also wouldn't submit to Denver's demands of a 2nd round pick to get him. Rather ride the Chad Henne wave to cellar or to the playoffs. Oh and if you have watched Luck play, you would see that there hasn't been as sure a thing in the draft for many years. Everything about the guy says "elite" QB in the making. The rookie wage scale couldn't have come at a better time either.
Whats wrong with people booing if they don't like what they see if you go to a concert and the performance is terrible you'll boo. NFL gear for your favorite team is expensive, NFL tickets to your favorite team's home games are expensive, and NFL Sunday ticket is expensive. Now add on to the fact we have a coach who was butt-hurt they tried to sign a different coach in the off season and got stuck with him who did the same thing to our starting QB. I couldn't careless about what he has to say about the fans tbh.
If Tony wants the fans to support Henne, the confidence in Henne should start with the front office and coaches. Don't go crying to the media Tony after you and your coaches basically tried everything under the sun to replace Henne and now your sticking up for him when you have little to no options left. I'm sure Henne thinks his coaches support is real genuine. You started an injured Pennington down the stretch last year, and then decided Tyler thigpen was a better option against the bears. Then you try to get Orton. Then you bring in Matt Moore and sign him to a two year deal. Ya, henne really feels like you have his back Tony. Shame on the chanting fans. What a load of BS, IMO.
Alen, I didn't hear ''replace'' all offseason, I heard ''competition'', and I don't think offering a third for Orton represents going ''Hard'' for a QB. Maybe they should of been more clear about their position on the position..
This is why I think our coach is underestimated..This issue could very well be his way of uniting this team this year...Your own team playing against the opponent, and against your own fans...lol...fu^%in love it..
Hypocrite. He doesn't like it when they try to publically replace him..so he gets a extension. He tries to replace Henne publically...and he doesn't like it when people boo? where is Henne's extension?
They werent boo'ing, they were chanting for the denver broncos starting quarterback, who wants 8-9 million a year, and has a neckbeard. during the 4th practice of the season!
That's the thing to me, it was the 4th practice. Maybe there should be no distinction, but IMHO give the team a chance to play together learn the playbook and get in sync. Then when the season starts and if he still stinks, as far as I'm concerned he is fair game.
I don't think they showed a mad push to sign an offseason QB, draft or free agency..I think Henning had a lot to do with the benching, some with Henne's inability to lead, but Henning was let go, so, maybe the plan was to surround the player with better talent and coaching.
Exactly Sec. I remember that sourpuss he put on at the media roundtable after the Harbaugh fiasco. Then he got his "financial apology"
Same here, Henne really needs the more popular players to stick their necks out for him by supporting him, or at least supporting giving Henne a chance, which if one thinks about what SS24 said..is what he was saying..
