http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/post/_/id/30158/marc-bulgers-retirement-hurts-ravens Well now, I thought he was something of an option, maybe #4 on my list, now Orton is staying in Denver, Young signed with Philly, and Grossman signed in DC, and Bulger retired. We are one step closer to Hennegedon, for good or bad, unless Matt Moore just dusts him in Training Camp.
We have the 4 horsemen of the offensive apocalypse, Sparano/Daboll/Dorrel/Henne...:lol" My liver actually typed that...it has been begging me for yrs to be a Patriots fan...
Fail to see how a either a fragile, old Marc Bulger (poor man's Chad Pennington) or how a crappy, really crappy QB like Grossman was an option over Chad Henne. At least Young had talent and Orton is a slight upgrade and still young.
mike lombardi was saying today on nfln that he wouldnt be surprised if the Kyle orton isnt brought in still
On another note, I'm good with moving forward with henne. I don't think henning was as big a problem as many others do, but I do think he was a problem. My thought its henne was just going through some major second year starter problems and could turn things around this year. Will he? Who knows. Either way I don't think its as bad as others seem to think it is sticking with him.
lol....Padre, the freakin guy retired...that shows you how pathetic his mindset was, and in some weird indirect way, your taking another shot.. The guy retired from christ sakes, is that who you would of wanted coming in..maybe thats why he wasn't signed, because his mind is toast.
Does anyone here, especially the Henne haters, think that Orton is worth a 2nd round pick and one of our def line players..? cause if you don't know what their asking for then why are you *****ing at this point for Orton not being here....Oh wait, you just want him for that 3rd round pick and thats it?...oh, ok..yeah Iam sure the broncos are ready to part with him for just a third.. Anyone ever think thats why Irish hasnt done the deal? because their asking for a 2nd and a player at this point?
Ive heard that Bulger wasnt coming back to play this season for quite awhile now.... Evidently, he'd done really well for himself investing the money he has made....and really had no desire to add to the physical toll the game was taking on him
Just having some fun Deej, "Hennegedon" just sounded funny to me, and beats just being hateful towards him.
DJ I think no one knows what is being asked for, so its speculative for anyone to assume its a 2nd, a 3rd or a 4th. So who knows. So can't berate someone on that. But I believe it was acknowledged that Miami & Denver had agreed to a compensation package, and that negotiations broke down when Orton was demanding too much in contract guarantees. It was Orton that killed the deal.
Maybe, it is not outside the realm of possibility, then again he could crater early vs the Pats and Houston.
Hennegedon? I think more appropriate would be Sparanogedon or Irishgedon ...Whether Henne plays good bad or indifferent , that Miami "may" not have a viable upgrade option isn't at all his fault imo.
not just one DJ, these guys really asked for randy starks...lol..i think if i would have been on the phone, i would have laughed very hard and just hang up, we builded that guy up, he is our baby, freakin ridiculous
Bulger had a backup mindset , no way did he want to be a starter bad enough ...none. Glad we never sniffed him.
So let me get this strait, all the people bitcing are ready to part with a #2 and Randy freakin Starks? a 2nd round pick and a 27 year old probowl defensive lineman? My point DJake, is exactly what you said, don't harshly criticize until you know why, for sure, why Irish has not pulled the trigger, cause maybe that IS what there asking for.. I for one, if Iam in charge, I'am not giving that up for Orton, even though I think he's pretty good.
you and I both agree that it shouldn't be up to Henne in the first place. Establish the run game, grind it out and make it so Henne isn't relied upon every series. The biggest difference from 2008 when we had faith in Henne to 2009 where we lost it, was the running game. Get the running game back and I bet we all start to look at Henne a little differently.
We have what we have at QB ..... highly unlikely to change in any significant way this year , imo. I would not part with a 2nd for Orton , I want assets for next year so we can properly and finally ( hopefully ) address the chasm at that position. In the meantime I want this team to be proactive as in restructuring Carey , they just need to do that with several others and add quality players that are still available and build the base for a team that when it gets the QB required will be set to hit the ground passing ( small joke ) . We can't make magic happen , and no need to try if it depletes valuable assets that we will need next year . I truly hope Henne has a solid season , if not I want as many pieces in place for next year that even a dead bilnd person can see what direction we will go , position wise . I want no excuses and no handcuffs in place by trading assets that can deliver that QB. Period.
For what it is worth and this shows how the NFL media works, some fans, by no means all (per DolfanBandits) chanted "we want Orton" and it makes news everywhere, Henne comes back with a solid practice and there are just crickets chirping, no mention at all.
So what your saying is if we keep spitting in Chad Hennes face and keep making fun of him and saying we want someone else he will play better. We want Orton!!!!!! We want Orton!!!!!!!! We want Orton!!!!!!!
Hennegeddon. Suckforluckalypse. Charming. LOL. As for this newfound "2nd and Randy Starks" thing...let's keep in mind that's just one report. I've also seen a report that swears all they really wanted was a 3rd round pick, and it didn't matter because the MAIN impetus to the deal was that Kyle Orton wanted a $9 million year stuck onto the end of his current deal to cover him through 2012 at the cost of $18 million. According to Mike Klis, the Dolphins never even got beyond that point to decide with the Broncos on what exactly they would give up for Orton. The Dolphins came close to agreeing on a restructured deal with Orton last Tuesday night, but then got cold feet.
As for Henne's training camp today, Omar giveth, Omar taketh away. He immediately renegged on his statement after seeing the 11-on-11 which he described as "brutal".
I have read the same reports and Elway was quoted as saying they never asked for a 2nd ... so to think they did is believing in the report one wishes to ...
what Iam sayin is noone really knows what their asking for..If there were talks and it was only for a third, I don't see the why Irish didn't pull the trigger, however if Orton comes back and says I want 9 mill a year, whatta you gonna do?
Keep negotiating, because nobody has any leverage. The reality is, for all the talk of how the new CBA would help veterans, it really hasn't. Its just made younger players more attractive, because they are cheaper. There is no chance Orton gets $9M a year on the open market.
Nobody knows what the proposed trade compensation was because it never got beyond the contract. It's as simple as that, if Mike Klis is to be believed. The Dolphins got into contract negotiations with Orton, they were closing in on a deal, had second thoughts, and the wheels fell off. We don't know what the trade compensation would have been because the Dolphins and Broncos didn't discuss it. It's just speculation. There's no "truth" to be discovered. The only "truths" to be discovered would be what the Broncos were willing to accept and what the Dolphins were willing to give, and I seriously doubt anyone knows Miami's end of that because they're an iron curtain when it comes to information flow. If Kyle Orton wanted a $9 million year added to the end of his contract for 2012, I would have done it. That's me, personally. I wouldn't have let that be the deal breaker preventing me from moving from Step One to Step Two.
Speculation says the whole reason he was asking for that $ 9 million a year was that Orton didn't really want to come here. He knew by asking for that either he was going to get paid to be miserable here or stay in Denver and beat out Tebow. I mean lets not be naïve here, he knew he wouldn't get that kind of money from us, so why did he ask for it, and wouldn't budge from that number ? That's why we walked away..... Again, it goes back to what Rosenhaus predicted......players will be shying away from Miami, because of our coaching mess. It seems to have played out that way so far.
