http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft2011/columns/story?columnist=mortensen_chris&id=6382356 For those of you who do not know his story, take a moment to read it. He is looking VG so far in camp, with a couple of picks. I REALLY hope he makes the team.
My biggest concern with him at CB would be lack of speed. I'd rather see him at FS backing up Clemons.
It's been said that Wilson had 2nd round talent before the problem. It would be great if this is a gem picked up by Ireland. You know the effort will be at 110%. I'm pulling for the guy.
I think you're right SoBe. This guy has a chip on his proverbial shoulder and something to prove. Should make a really hungry and motivated football player.
I gave props on this one to the Universal guys ... they predicted that the FO was hoping that he'd fall to the latter part of the draft, because of his prison time. He did, but his talent was evident all along. I really do believe they gave up Amaya because we got Wilson ... even though he is a little light for their prototye. Wilson, Carter and Spears are all showing well in camp thus far .... but next week will go a lot further in showing what they have.
I'm thinking that, at worst, Wilson will be a ST ace TI. STs are half talent, and half desire. He appears to have a lot of both.
CB Jimmy Wilson of Montana who you’ll read about in Miami Meets. This is a kid who was on a murder rap but got off and is apparently a terrific individual who can play man, has good size and is a mature leader can play inside or out.
He's worn two different numbers at Montana, correct? Maybe I'm backwards on this, but I'm thinking he wore #21 before prison and #18 after prison?
It's a pretty incredible story. What a huge bonus it would be for this guy to turn out to be a real contributor at our greatest position of need on defense this season.
What is it that Peter Griffin's neighbor Quagmire would say? "I like where this is goin'! Giggidy, giggidy, gig-gi-dy!"
