http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/sh...riously-injured-in-bicycle-acc?urn=nfl-wp4394 Former No. 3 pick Joey Harrington(notes) was seriously injured on Sunday night when a bicycle he was riding was hit by an SUV. Harrington remains in a Portland, Ore., hospital with a broken collar bone, punctured lung and a cut on his head. The injuries are not life threatening and the former Detroit Lions quarterback is expected to be released on Tuesday.
Ouch, too bad, hope he gets better. Too bad his football career didn't work out. Seemed like a good guy.
Too bad for Joey. I always liked him, but he just couldn't figure out the Pro game. I hope his hands are alright as I know he was also a classically trained pianist, and played as the featured artist several times with orchestras in the Pacific NW and also when he was in Miami I attended a concert of his at Gusman Hall with the U of Miami Chamber Orchestra. Very talented and gifted artist. I was shocked to see an athlete that was that good at playing a musical instrument.
if only the SUV would've screamed "I'm Open! I'M OPEN!" Then there's no way Harrington would have even come close to it.
You arseholes who can find humor of the misfortune and close brush with death of a super nice person like Joey, you can all shove a football up your @ss sideways till you choke on it. The guy gets hit from behind riding a bike and it's lucky he isn't killed. You all who think it's funny deserve the same thing happen to you. I saw this online yesterday but didn't post it here, because I guessed some would make jokes about it. Looks like my concern was not unfounded.
Look at ya starting this thread to drop the punch line a few posts later. Funny stuff though (your punch line, not the accident).
Errr it's actually illegal (at least here in Ontario) for any adult aged bicycle rider to be on the sidewalk. Quite frankly it's nuts that law makers would expect bicycle's on very busy streets without bike lanes.
This is the one thing I hate about certain fans. What the **** does his performance on the field have ANYTHING to do with this thread? He got hit by a ****ing car for crying out loud. I wish him a speedy recovery.
IT would have been ironic, had he been hit by an actual side of a barn ...but I'm almost sure he couldn't hit an SUV 15 yards from the line of scrimmage either.
Karma is a *****. Think about that, when you're in a situation where the same kind of thing could happen to you. Go ahead and make jokes about someone who has a punctured lung, head lacerations, and a broken collarbone. What goes around comes around.
There's also karma for wishing that on other human beings. Welcome to MORAL CHECKMATE. If you can't laugh at how undoubtedly ****ed up our world is, you'll end up doing a lot of crying.
You talked about Karma of people making jokes about others plight (Which is how some of us deal with this ****ed up world). And then you interpreted Karma to mean horrible things should happen to us. Guess what? That skews your karma negatively. That's called Moral Checkmate, placing you in an unwinnable argument. Next time, I'll get someone to draw you a diagram.
Did I say I wished? No, I said deserved. Nothing to do with my personal wishes. Sure I can laugh at things, like if a bird crapped on your head, or you fell into a mud puddle, etc. But, unless it happens to a really evil person, I don't tend to find humor or satisfaction in punctured lungs, broken bones, etc. Would anyone have made jokes if the same thing happened to Marino? Very unlikely. Why? Because he was a great player. Joey was mediocre and it is easy to take out one's frustrations with the team's failures on a player many deem to be partially to blame. Even though he was trying his best, that isn't good enough. I've never seen or heard the term Moral Checkmate attributed with karma before. Can you show me one article about karma that also mentions moral checkmate? Nice term for you to use to deflect it to me as being at least equally bad. My interpretation of karma skews my karma negatively? Thank you Buddha for setting me straight. How does your interpretation of karma skew your karma? I interpreted karma to mean horrible things should happen to you? No, just deserved equal, and after all getting hit by a SUV while riding your bike, getting a broken collarbone and punctured lung really isn't horrible is it? It's just something to laugh and joke about, especially since the brunt of the jokes is a player you likely held in disdain anyway.
