Wow, I had thought they would keep him to be the 1st and 2nd down ILB, cannot say I'm sad to see him leave though. My boi Spears is still there though.
I see no issues with this really. We have pretty good depth Behind Dansby and it gives us some cap space.
Irish was praising the Gerbil prior to hitting the "eject" button as well. Overall, the speed on defense has improved...me likey...
Nice! Now could we use his money to sign Braylon or another TE/RB please? Kinda tells you what they think of Edds imo.
My one worry is about ST with cutting him, supposedly he was a core STer in SD. As for Edds, apparently so, my goodness look how mobile the D has gotten in one week!
Its not just about mobile, its about the fact we have a very beefy front 3 and a lot of depth there. The back 7 SHOULD be better coverage guys since Langford-Soliai-Odrick (McDaniel, Fields, Merling, Starks) has to be one of the deepest units anywhere in the NFL.
Okay with Dobbins leaving. besides, the game is moving more and more to passing concepts and spread, and less smashmouth running. You can't carry linebackers who are that one-dimensional anymore or you'll get victimized by OCs.
Well I noticed the patriots got smaller and quicker on offense with woodhead and Co, and watching our thumpers lumber after those guys really annoyed me as it was clear the D had the wrong tools for the job. Crowder on Woodhead? or Edelman? or Welker? The result was inevitable, watching Q Moses lumber around like a Ent in pass coverage was just..bleech..things had to change.
True, but is also an opportunity TO play smashmouth yourselves, as personnel grow quicker but not as stout, they become vulnerable to ground and pound, which imho is what we should do.
who was that kid from Kentucky last year? Micah something? I thought he flashed some really nice run stuffing ability, I'd love to see him back in camp.
Johnson. Big strong guy. Not the best runner but could break down a run. Probably too one dimensional for the NFL and too slow.
I'm kind of surprised, I figured that they'd want to keep him because he was a poor man's version of Crowder(albeit still pretty good) that they could justify keeping as the #3 LB. They are clearly tired of sub-packages. None of the top three ILBs at this point are guys who need to be pulled for Nickel. Reminds me of old Marvel comic characters. Stan Lee used to name all his character names alliterative... Peter Parker, Bruce Banner, Reed Richards, etc.
"The Dolphins on Monday cut backup linebacker Tim Dobbins in what they told him was a money-driven decision. "http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/08/02/2341024/miami-dolphins-will-allen-works.html#ixzz1TqKktKry I never saw this one coming, but I understand the move. They are obviously trying to free up some cash for a big move that is forthcoming. But who....? Hmmmmm This should be most interesting. I think there is a very big name / signing in the works. I think it might be Braylon Edwards.
You had to see this coming a mile away. They weren't going to give him another 3 million to be the #3 ILB with little upside
Ross must be happy. Bush, a celeb, JT, Dancing With Stars, Bat Masterson, and Kevin "Sonny"Burnett, Miami Vice.
