This is one of Nolan's favorites, he had him in SF as well as in Denver, a decent player who had a maturity problem iirc.

If my mom named me Ronald, I'd have a maturity problem too.

I like Fields although I'm not sure whether I could say he's better than Baker.

Indeed. Spent five of his first six NFL seasons with Nolan.

I think he is a very good choice for backup NT. IMO, we basically have 2 starting defensive lines now we can rotate. McDaniel/Fields/Odrick wouldn't be the worst 3-4 line in the league if they were the starters, and these are our backups for gawd sake.

He got into some hot water for supposedly waiving a pistol around at a nightclub, would suspect that has been dealt with which allowed him to sign.

He's a good player, but I have to wonder if Nolan is just helping him out with all of our Dline depth, or if there is a trade in the works or what have you.

Interesting. I wouldn't have thought they'd sign a dedicated backup NT. Wonder if he'll play other positions.

We need rb depth, ol depth and a catching te. Then call it an offseason.

Oh my God.....still my beating heart...........

Now if we can just teach our defense how to score we'll be great........

Fields is more of a proven commodity. It's a pretty safe bet Nolan signed off on this move.

Nolan has been his coach every yr in the NFL, I like this move as well as it removes just a bit more uncertainty.

Did he play? Seemed like rotoworld mentioned the factoid I tossed up there.

Either way, deep on the Dline, does this remind you of bringing in Maurice Douglas and C Grant last season?

Yup. I figured he was the 'player' involved in any trade for Orton. Enough needy 3-4 teams that we should get something back for him.

Marques Douglas . Yes I thought of that. That seemed more like insurance for Odrick's readiness though, where Fields seems like a viable and valuable option for the DL.

I would loved to have signed Cullen Jenkins, but it probably would have been too much for a backup/situational player.

Good signing, while he's just depth I feel like there aren't much better options for depth at the nose tackle position.

well, at least we gave some attention to a 'back-up' plan at NT ... not surprising that it is a 'Nolan' player to boot.

if nothing else, it'll give us a decent barometer to where Kearse and Baker are ... Baker has had some development time .... so Fields will be a better gauge for him.

while MCD did a decent job in spotting at NT, i just don't like seeing Starks there ....

Meh, you guys signed the wrong Bronco.

I liked Nolan and a lot of us felt that McD gave him the shaft.

If the defense holds on to just fifty percent of the dropped balls some will end up as points. Hopefully they practice catching the ball instead of playing hot potato. Knocking them down is always good but that little extra changes the game.

Holy ****, I signed Ronald Fields in my offline Madden franchise not too long ago. :O

I had also recently drafted a 6'0" bruiser of a back, and a WR with an 87 rating. Along with a few beastly Olinemen and a monster DE.

My current staff has Brian Daboll as the OC (QB boost).
