Alright so we have Reggie Bush, and there is talk of making him our Premier back. He is not a premier back more like a wildcard or third down specialist, with this being said and a lot of voodoo magic on the Dolphin's management to do something productive who do you go after? Ronnie Brown is looking cheaper. Yes I know Ronnie is coming off of an awful season, but if you look at what is left on the market who do you go after? We can not just rely on a rookie running back and Bush to carry the loads. Ricky Williams is decent and probably cheaper than Ronnie I am sure the Fin's management love that, hmmm cheaper, but IMO he is going to be less productive. So Dolfan's what now?
I think the "every down back" talk was just some rubbing of the thigh to persuade Bush to come here. I don't think we're dumb enough to push the envelop and risk injuring the guy. At least I hope we're not. Ok, now I'm no so sure.
That would be nice, but I believe Ireland was forthright about liking Lex. I think we feel good about Thomas, Bush, and Lex (with Grigsby & Sheets battling for the 4th spot). I like Grigsby. As much as I'd like Bradshaw here, IMO his money would be better spent on a TE or WR who can contribute from week 1 (NE) on natural ability alone b/c of the shortened off season..... which is why I'm hoping for Braylon Edwards.
You think we shell out a 2nd for Thomas, deal for Bush and then make Bradshaw one of the highest paid RBs in the league? There's investing in a position like RB and there's overkill.
If we go TE in free agency, then we can put Clay into the running backs stable. If we sign another RB instead, then he can be part of the TE contingent. The first day or two of camp the only backs they had were Clay, Polite and Grigsby. Lack of bodies kind of got Clay started out at RB. Thomas is signed now, so it is not quite so barren. Lex and Sheets need to sign their tenders and get their butts out there. Clay was smart IMO. He knew he was behind. So I'm guessing he told his agent to get him signed in time for the first day of camp and don't haggle over minutiae.
That's my thought and hope. Technically Sparano said "early down back". I took that to mean 'as opposed to just a third down back' rather than "feature" meaning "bulk of the carries". I saw Bush's stats once for the last three years and he was most effective on first down (best avg.)
Completely agree. "every down back" as in--- the ability to play on any down rather than playing every down.
i thought Sparano said "early" not "every". I could be wrong, but that's what I thought I heard him say.
There's a lot of guys out there, and little talk. I'm wondering if we might have some interest in adding another Bush (Oak) to our RB forest.
