INOW, they are going to approach some players about "restructuring" to sign Orton. Makes sense, bet Carey, Crowder, Marshall are hit up.
According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel's Dave Hyde, Vince Young has been the Dolphins' No. 2 target at quarterback behind Kyle Orton. Young will be released by the Titans later this afternoon, which could play havoc with any leverage the Broncos may have enjoyed in trade talks. With Kevin Kolb almost certain to land in Arizona by the end of the day, Denver may be forced to accept a fourth-rounder for Orton not sure if this is any type of update , but playing hardball is a good sign imo .
They might, it could be a "take a paycut or get cut by 4pm" sort of deal Sick. Funny thing is, we SHOULD have plenty of Cap Room to sign Orton for 6 million per yr, so either this is a bone to the fans, or they do not want Orton to use most of the cap space as Ireland will want to bargain shop as guys are cut and Vet Minimums have went up in the CBA.
Sure he is our #2 choice.. Denver is watching their leverage disappear, as long as Young is on the market (and I fully expect he ends up in philly to replace Kolb) the Broncos will have that 8.8 million dollar Cap number gumming up their FA period..and they really need Dlinemen..
I could be completely wrong....but....with Vince Young currently available as a FA....Denver could end up having to keep Orton. Maybe they really would consider keeping him...especially if he already said he might take less to stay.
man it sucks that we donĀ“t have more money to operate, in the end the jets are in better shape than we are.....unbelievable
I don't think so. It sounds more like Denver knows they HAVE to cut Orton, and Miami is winning the game of chicken. As soon as he's cut, then Miami and Orton work out a deal to bring him here and make him our starter. If this turns out to be true, then all the bad-mouthing of the regime the last day or two seems unjustified.
I think I'm more excited for 4PM today than I have been for anything this offseason. Nick Barnett, come on down.
He showed up underweight and passed his conditioning test "with flying colors" so says his agent. Of course, the agent would say that...but still that was exactly what I'd be looking for before I sign Soliai to a deal. He had $12.5 million in hand, guaranteed, he could have done whatever the hell he wanted this year. He won't pocket much more than $12.5 million guaranteed money in a long term deal. He's maturing and he's getting better every year. And he's a beast. Wrap him up. At least do SOMETHING right.
Yeh...but....if Orton is gonna take a pay cut....and he knows he's gonna backup Tebow at first....why would they keep Delhome? Are they REALLY REALLY that sold on Tebow?
I don't see much reason to trade ANYTHING for Orton at this point. All of Denver's leverage is gone and they still have that 8.8 millie cap number hanging over their heads. Barring an injury to some other teams QB, are there any other buyers out there? We could realistically offer a 5th round pick, take it or eat the 8.8 million. And to Orton its, restructure your deal a la Reggie Bush or spend the season watching Tim Tebow. I'm guessing Orton ma be more willing to take a paycut now that all his potential suitors have melted away. He knows he won't make anything close to 9 million as a FA so if he can restructure down to 4 millie and get an extra year or two I think he'd be open to it. This is all hypothetical though b/c i want no parts of Kyle friggin Orton. A QB controversy in the middle of a hyper condensed training camp and preseason is not what we need IMO.
Orton has stated he does not want to be a backup. Tebow is a QB-in-training, everyone here knows it, and the rumor is that Delhomme may be brought on board to mentor him. The plan is to develop him. He cannot beat Orton head-to-head.
If Miami takes Orton, there will be no QB controversy. Henne's butt will be blown off the field. Period.
I doubt it, Henne's been shackled like a mofo. Hell, he can't even use his greatest weapon which is his laser cannon arm without coaches, press, receivers and fans telling him to ease up. Henne can get on some tremendous rolls, he's got more upside than Orton IMO, he just needs more time (sound familiar)...
One can only hope our front office is playing this smart. fingers crossed Poor sexy Olivia, being used in that way.
Well, if Denver's selling Orton anywhere close to the used car salesman routine nyuk nyuk is, then we'll call their bluff...Go get Young already, Orton's got nothing.
Kyle orton gang or die K.O.G.O.D Vince young better be our number 2 because if we get vince young rather then orton I won't know what to think about this team. Kyle orton will do great here he will keep us in games and won't lose them for us vince young will. With our defense all we need is a qb that can not lose the game foe us and that's kyle orton. He can put points up for us and he won't lose the game for us. Vince young will end up losing games for us
Time to pull out the big guns fellas: -5th rd pick -tennis ball cannister filled with Miami Nose Candy for Elway Call it D-O-N-E
And alot of leverage just went back to Orton in negotiating a deal, after watching Arizona throw dollars at Kolb, like Obama does to support the economy....If I am Orton, I want that money...
