I can really see us having a new coaching staff next year.

It could happen, but I'm going to enjoy this season first, before spending any time speculating about a new coaching staff and/or front office next season. IMO, Ireland is the best talent evaluator we've had since Bobby Beathard. So I'm hoping he stays around a while. I'm willing to give Tony the benefit of the doubt and my full support and best wishes till we see how 2011 plays out.

To all of you who have leaped onto the Kyle Orton bandwagon...

If we do get Orton and he starts, I don't want to hear any excuses about Kyle Orton's dissmal performance at the end of the season. Orton has played in two of the NFL's weakest divisions, the NFC Norse and the AFC Less...and now you expect him to come in to the AFC Beast and be a winner?

Did somebody in this thread say that because they were a GM in the GM league that it qualifies them to breakdown the Denver Broncos?

    I need confirmation on this.

I don't get the Henne Vs Orton stuff. There is NOTHING good about this "courting" of Orton if we dont close the deal. Hennes confidence will be shot.

Yes, I am still awaiting confirmation from the judges if I have owned the dolphins in my Madden franchise for 4 years, if that trumps the GM League.....I will update once I recieve said confirmation.

Griddles DID say this. But that is such BS. I mean, I made this trade on Madden and based on the season he just had on my Season mode, Orton will throw for 98 touchdowns and four interceptions this season. A 3rd rounder is a steal...

I think you guys are being unfair. He said it to indicate that he had spent a lot of time with their roster and their players. He didn't put it out like he's now the resident Bronco guru. And heck, even if he did, he's probably right. It's not like anyone has the time to break down 32 teams in more than some stat pieces.

I never said that... all I said was that I have went through that team's roster more than most Miami fans here. Which I guarantee to be true.

You don't have to value my opinion if you don't want to... it really doesn't matter much to me. It's not like your opinion is all that mind-boggling when it comes to anything beyond the Heat.

Henne said he knew they were going to bring someone in to "compete" with him, the poor dear.

I'd love it if when Young is waived, we bring him in for a public visit, and then call the Broncos and make a "final" offer.

Yes, but wouldn't it make sense that a person in that position has studied the Broncos more than most Dolphins fans? It does to me and no I am not the former GM in the GM league.

Orton definitely provides the greatest competition for the starting role and might be the better QB right now due to his experience, but I strongly believe Henne has the greater upside and will be the better QB by 2012, if not half way through 2011.

IMO all this trade accomplishes is handcuffing ourselves at QB for the next few years unless Henne immediately beats out Orton and allows himself to continue developing.

    Orton as a backup is a good idea b/c I think we're a contender this year <with Henne>.
However, if we're desperate enough to where want the castaway Orton as the present & future, then IMO it would be smarter to save the money & draft pick and just go all-in on a legit 2012 franchise caliber QB (with Henne being his eventual backup).

Matt Barkley?...... Kyle Orton? If Henne doesn't emerge as the long term answer, then I want to know that he's not....... and the only way to know for sure is to see how he's progressed and let him develop through his 3rd year starting while in a more conducive system.

And if Henne doesn't emerge as the answer, then I definitely do NOT want Orton as the long term solution over a guy like Barkley or Luck.

I don't know if his confidence should be shot , he should of seen this coming any qb that played like he did should know that he is going to have to prove himself again and he would be stupid to think we weren't going to look for another qb.

I don't know, 2010 was the first time Orton had a losing record as a starter. He helped the Bears win the division in 2005. The 2010 Broncos were without a doubt the worst team he played on, with the 26th run game and worst ranked defense.

And we need a QB anyway, and Orton is the best one remaining. They bring in Orton and it makes an interesting QB battle, or they bring in some scrub and hope Henne has abig turnaround. I'd rather have Orton and Henne, it's the best chance the Dolphins have at QB in 2011.

So NFL Network is saying we have all the leverage, because the Broncos dont want his salary cap to his their books, they need to get rid of him. Padre made a good point, we can sit back, bring in Matt Moore, Vince Younge etc for meetings, and then make our "final" offer to the Broncos, and tell them to accept or we will go another route....hopefully forcing their hand.

Just don't give them too much Irish!!!!

I'm not saying he's bad. Just saying his 2:1 TD-INT ratio can be a bit misleading.

Orton's had some great games, but he's also had some really poor ones in weak division; he had a chance to win some games in 2011 that he lost.

After 6 years in the league, he's also yet to become the guy capable of carrying a team on his shoulders (which is coincidentally the reason so many fans want Henne replaced) and he's yet to gain the consistency you rely on for a playoff run; IMO Henne is and will be a more consistent, reliable game manager.

It's taken Kyle 6 years to become an average NFL QB. Is this our future? My guess is--- we'll realize by 2012 that he's not and we'll draft his replacement while keeping Orton as a backup <b/c he's on contract> and watch free agent Henne go on to succeed with another team who actually allows him to develop in a system geared for his growth & success.

I think Ireland will win this battle with the way things are looking. Eventually Denver will cave, I'd imagine... I just wonder if we'll give up a 3rd or a conditional 4th.

Well that, and the bottom line is with a shorter TC we should not jerk around too long with Kyle Orton, but we have Brandstater and Devlin backing up Henne, how will they take that seriously?

Broncos fans believe (pre Lombardi) that Denver may have to straight up wave him to clear the cap space.

But like Ireland didnt wanna do with Reggie Bush is, we'd have to get into a bidding war with Orton if that was the case. So Ireland is calling saying "hey, you will cut him anyways, let me give you a 5th and be done with it"

But the broncos are being stubborn. This will be fun/interesting to see how it turns out.

The Broncos dont really need to let this drag along either. That will just make it that much longer before they can sign who THEY want with that salary they will be dumping. Getting done quickly is a win win.

I'm not saying the guy is the answer, but sometimes it takes longer for guys to mature into quality players, especially those not drafted in the first few rounds. Rich Gannon is a guy off the top of my head that took years to develop into a pro-bowl caliber QB. Jake Delhomme I think took about 5-6 years also.

The front office could be absolutely wrong, but apparently they can still see an upward arc in Orton's career path, and apparently see things in Henne's game that leads them to believe he'll never get over certain essential bumps in the road.

Greetings from Denver. Here's the deal. Orton is a pretty good QB. In our situation, because we drafted Tebow, he'll be nothing but a "stop-gap" here. Otherwise, we'd probably keep him.

He's a very intelligent passer, throws few pics, has great poise in the pocket and good accuracy. He's put up better stats than Cutler the 2 years we've had him after Cutler left for Chicago. He does tend to struggle on 3rd down and in the red zone, and he's more likely to get sacked than Tebow, but then again, who isn't?

I predict that he'll blow Henne's candy *** off the Miami practice field in no more than 10 minutes.

I don't know what the holdup is in this trade, but it'll get done. There are some leaks coming out of Broncos camp that the QB issue is causing some feelings of uneasiness. To this point, Kyle is in Broncos camp right now and is practicing as #1 QB. He could be out of here by sunset, who knows. The deal between Arizona and Kolb is also taking time, probably haggling over compensation as is the apparent holdup with Orton.

Orton has really blossomed here in the situation he's had in Denver, and I think for him the only place to go is up. He kicked some serious butt here with Marshall, and I think you'll like him.

Yea, but you're only 22, I'm 45. It's been years in my adult life since the Dolphins have been the perinneal playoff contenders they were when I was your age. I'm tired of the heartbreaking seasons and the experiments that have gone belly up year after year.
Ricky Williams (been to the playoffs ONCE since we traded for him)
    Daunte Culpepper
    Joey Porter
    Trent Green
Chad Pennington (only one great season from him)
    Braylon Edwards
    Reggie Bush

Need to quit going after gimmicks and build a TEAM and train that team to be the BEST, regardless of who they are or aren't.
