Baltimore has told TE Heap that he will be cut on Thurs. Last year, he caught 53 passes for a 14 yard avg, and 6 TDs, but he is 31. Any interest?
Yeah but he's lost about 3 steps and can't stay on the field. If all we needed was a mentor it would be great. We need playmakers that can stretch the field and that's not his game anymore.
Agreed but, there are not available options out there. From what I can see, he did not miss any games last year, and was productive. Depending on the cost, he and Fasano in a double TE set would force teams to account for both.
He would garner attention on the field due to his name alone. With Fasano oposite him, with Beast, Gates, and Bess also on the field.....it could....I SAID COULD....be a good thing. Is he better than Charles Clay or Joey Hanus? We will find out in training camp I assume. I doubt Heap goes anywhere but a contender this late in his career.
Who wouldn't? But with the cap being set much lower than expected, that snowball's chance has melted away.
I'd take him but Baltimore already said they're going to try and bring both he and Mason back at lower salaries
we really need to get Zac Miller but I would be happy with Todd Heap and the former tight end coach of the dolphins told me that Wanny wanted Heap but they liked Randy McMichale's athletic abilities better so thats why we didnt draft Heap. I wished but its not looking we will sign a big name player to drown out the pimping of the jets and pats So if I had to choose 5 players I would take rb Bradshaw , te Zach Miller rb Daren Sproles special teams return game qb Vince Young more athletic then Orton and he would help us get some attenion so wedonthave to listen to the jets propaganda wr Ocho Cinco he would be fun to watch and with Marshall 's situation which is lible to explode Ocho could add spice to the offen
What is the name of this former TE coach who talked to you? Heap was drafted in 2001, and McMichael was drafted in the 4th round in 2002. I really doubt we bypassed Heap just because Wanny had his sights set on McMichael a year later.
I do not understand, Todd Heap was a first round pick in 2001 and McMichael was a 4th round pick in 2002. That doesn't make sense.
aw, beat me too it. Maybe it was the guy who had a bunch of porn on his computer, back in the day when people actually hid the fact they had porn on their computer
Heap I think would be a good pickup. He isn't the kind of seam stretching tight end everyone wants, but being on the field the same time as Fasano can still cause mismatch problems. Not only that, but he two tight end set would probably be our dominant run blocking formation, even if Polite returns to 2009 form. You don't have to make the formation the center point of your offense, either like you would with Miller.
Wait a minuet your right mr Clean i got my players mixed up and it was feidler and Bress that i talked to him about . I 'm sorry for getting the players and all mixed up. I didnt mea to get the draft and players mixed up. I had talked to Pat Jones at the sports Animal wwls radio it was the qb situation that we talked about. go you guys ever get situations and players mixed up ? but I could have sworn that we were in position to draft Heap but we drafted another position. but McMichael was in the same draft or thats what I thought.hop you guys arent mad because i got mixed up there, every now and then I talk to former Coach Pat Jones . and he has some great stories about some of our players.
