Did not enter my mind like you are suggesting... no sir, thats not how I feel..I appreciate the work that he does to train for his sport, its a given when you are paid the amount of money he gets to do his job..I respect him for that..He just needs to act a lot better, less self absorbed..
of course not..different context here, I'am referring to his behavior as boy like thus far in his career.
I believe you have a responsibility to act with certain grace when you are born big enough fast enough and talented enough to play professional sports.
You don't know when to quit, do you? You're continuing to make my point for me. Brandon Marshall is 6-4 230 and runs a 4.5 40. While this type of natural-born talent is rare, college football produces plenty of big, fast WRs every year. Only men like Brandon Marshall have the work ethic and the maturity to become one of the NFL's best WRs. To write him off as simply a guy who is born a certain way is disrespectful and garbage.
And whos intentetions are to sprint out the gate at the end of the season. That makes sense why he called plays like he didn't give a crap now.
His conduct as a prof. athlete has been immature up until this point in his career...Grow up Marshall.......It doesn't get any deeper than the guy has acted like a ''child'', we need more from him considering what hes getting paid..Do I think he can, and do I want him to do it?...yes, I believe every man deserves their last chance.
Ah, the old race-card accusation! I forgot that everyone here is color blind and we all sing Kumbaya together. Puh-leeze. Its not "playing the race card". Rather, it is pointing out the reality of how race plays a factor in people's opinions. The truth hurts. To write it off as "playing the race card" is a cop-out and dismisses the truth.
If we're shut out in a game, pointing the finger at one play is a little silly. In those cases, the whole offense was terrible
so I referred to the athlete as a boy, referring to his conduct on, and off the field..If some people are offended by that analogy, I cannot understand their P.O.V., nor do I think I should change my vocabulary when voicing my opinion.
Just to be clear, you're counting McDaniels' promotions to OC in New England & to HC in Denver as signs that he wasn't able to get along w/ people? He's been tasked w/ overseeing the development of Sam Bradford because he's not well liked? Seriously?
I'm not using New England as proof of anything. Read what I said: three jobs in four years. This is factual. He went from NE to DEN to STL. He absolutely did not get along with anyone in DEN and now he's at his third job in four years. This is Martz level nomadery for the same general reasons. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If you're talking about vs Tennessee, it was only a 5 yd delay of game penalty. But I agree w/ the points you make. Marshall can do a lot more for the team than he did last year, he can dominate games like he did vs NY or in the first half vs GB. Unfortunately, our offense wasnt designed that way & BM was schematically treated no different from any other WR for much of the season. Im glad he wants to play well and win games, I just wish he'd keep his comments in house instead of mouthing off in the media.
You said THREE JOBS in THREE YEARS. New England is one of those jobs, so yes, you are using NE to support your point. And if he didn't get along w/ anyone in Denver, how'd he get the job? How'd he go 6-0 to start 2009? Why did he immediately get hired again after Denver let him go. Your talkin' outta your hind parts man.
It seems to me that in the original post, he used the quotation marks around "boy" to denote the same emphasis on a different understanding of the word as you did in "that way", which to me seemed perfectly clear. Methinks you are reaching for something that is really not there, and trying to blow it up into a valid point. It is not a valid point. That is the way that writing in the English language is employed to make proper use of a differentiation between the normal connotation which would be assumed, and one which is outside that normal connotation. It also removes the denotative construct of the use of the term. To me, it was perfectly clear that he was referring to apparent immature behavior on the part of some person who was supposedly an adult.
6'1 180..Whats wrong with if I was to have a conversation with him. I tell him that I think he's acted more like a boy than a man thus far, and that I hope that he learns and grows up and understands how to have class and set an example, and how fortunate he is to have been born with that talent?.Not sure he does at this point, which is my point to begin with.
Something else I believe...Football players read their teams best fan website, especially during a lockout...word gets around.
Depends very much on context Conu, "boy have you lost your damn mind!?!?" compared to "boy, are you just dumb"? One will garner a laugh, the other you maybe better get ready to throw down as that is not appreciated at all. Hmm, now here is a thought, with Brandon Marshall's contract "up" when the season starts, and a club option to pick up the remainder of the deal, what if we let him walk and use the money to sign DeAngelo Williams and Darren Sproiles instead of keeping him?
I said three jobs in four years. The point is that he's been at three different franchises in four years. Thus why I said three jobs in four years. Are you actually going to go down this path? Because the end result of the argument you're building up here is that Josh McDaniels is not a d*ck and did not self-destruct in Denver. Are you really going to make that argument? Good luck. You'll need it.
All good points. I def think we didnt go the extra mile to get Marshall involved. I dont mind the number of targets, but I didnt see much creativity in terms getting him open, nor did I see the fade patterns that should have been a staple in our offense. IMO Marshall is best used on fades, shallow crosses, slants, and digs, patterns where he can catch the ball in stride and then make plays after the catch. Unfortunately, Bess, Fasano, & Hartline are also best used on short-intermediate routes. We didnt have anyone who could force the defense to expand enough to create space for Marshall. When teams focused on Marshall, we had no one who could make them pay for it. Bess is annoying, not dangerous. Hartline and Fasano are afterthoughts in the pass game. Shuler, Moore, Wallace, Ronnie, Ricky, Polite, yawn. We added Gates & Clay, though Im not expecting much from them this year. What I am hoping for is a return of the running game, that would do wonders for Marshall as well as the offense as a whole.
I don't know the man personally (do you?), and I could care less if he's a d!ck or not. He's a damn good football coach and he has been rewarded for his talents w/ high profile job after high profile job at an age where most guys are still working as graduate assistants at their alma maters. The guy was the OC on the highest scoring offense in NFL history, then 2 humbling (I hope) years as a HC, and now he's been hired to oversee the development of the leagues #1 QB prospect and all you can say is he's a d!ck? You're funny.
Wow. You're actually going to defend Josh McDaniels' conduct in Denver just to bash Brandon Marshall. Wow.
I'd take McDaniels 10 times out of 10 instead if Daboll. BUT its not up to me and he does not get along with Mike Nolan. Anyway as Muck said This: This team has to ditch the 80s philosophy if they want to be a contender.
How do you like that...Henning was so senile that he 'forgot' about our best option at WR ?? Sounds just like we looked last season on offense...
Of course! McDaniels obviously is a hard worker who got to where he is based on merit, whereas Marshall was simply born tall and fast with great hands.
Just opened this thread and wondering why there's any other post after yours. Dan Henning didn't WANT to coach...he didn't want to be there and his coaching reflected it. Kinda like Nick Satan... End of the season, well...we all remember that soap opera.
There have been lots of things said about lots of players on this forum that the poster would not likely say to the player's face. No reason to single out DJ like he is the first. Someone posted in another thread recently how they would slap Henne across the face. I'd like to see that. As for where BM got the taunting penalty, according to nfl.com: No matter how you paint it, the penalty wiped out a good gain. Had the play stood, we conceivably could have been on the edge of FG range combined with what followed in that series. Even if not, it isn't the kind of thing you want from a guy who is supposed to be a leader on offense. There was another penalty too, where after he caught a pass in the middle of the field, after the tackle he got up and fired the ball to the sidelines and got a delay of game penalty. I do not recall which team it was against. Maybe it was a dream, seriously. The announcers jokingly commented on what a good arm he had.
Wow, I never knew this about DJ...the skeletons are rattling in his closet now. Well, at least, hopefully, he isn't a Justin Beiber fan.
Des, to be fair, 3 jobs in 4 years but only one he was run out of. He left one job to a promotion, ruined it at another, now he's in his current position. 3 jobs? Yeah. Nomadic? Ehh....
lol..someone gave me tickets for that guy in vegas once...never made it to the show..I decided to party with the Wu-tang clan at a strip club.
