I think we need Sheets, or a type of Sheets, that speed/size combination at 210 pds is a nice counter punch to DTrains' size, let's see if he can blitz pickup and catch the ball though, and I like Hilliard more then most do as his size/speed combination is similar to Hillis's:

And I have to disagree with your disagreement. There are maybe four game changing RBs in the NFL today, IMO: Adrian Peterson, Chris Johnson, Arian Foster, and Maurice Jones-Drew. All of those guys either play for losing teams or didn't sniff the playoffs. As for Ginn and the Jets, you need to be careful with your examples: citing an extremely rare instance and then claiming that it's the norm is not convincing.

Conversely, you don't pay big money to players who have injury histories (Williams has played only 19 games over the last 2 years), players who are only on the field part of the time (Williams has only 303 rush attempts over the last two years), and players who have injury histories despite limited time on the field. :shifty:

We definitely need to upgrade the RB position, but there are better ways to do it than dumping piles of money on one player's front lawn. Though I suspect this entire conversation will be moot in a few weeks when the team pecks around the perimeter of free agency and there are dozens of posts here wondering why we didn't try more aggressively to get Big Name Running Back X.

Carey proved to be serviceable at LT and Hadnot's such a solid player that he's a backup in Arizona. Remember this is the guy who was clamoring for $5 million a year?

    free agency according to need:

    1) QB
    2) offensive line
    3) defensive backfield

I can see possibly two, maybe three pickups

Yeah right, did you ever stop and think maybe the running game is terrible because we have a quarterback that scares no one? I can easily counter that with, if we get a better quarterback the running game SHOULD be fine.

Fumbles can be fixed. Tiki Barber used to be a fumbler until Tom Coughlin taught him how to carry the ball differently. Barber stopped fumbling. Bradshaw provides a unique combination of toughness and big play ability that cannot be dismissed.

Id be fine with Bradshaw or D Williams..you wont get an argument either way as these are probably my two favorite backs in the league. They both exactly what the doctor ordered for this team since they both have explosion and can run inside. Williams has slightly less wear and tear on his body but Bradshaw has shown a willingness to play hurt and be an excellent pass blocker.

If you think Reggie Bush is anything close to Bradshaw as a runner or even "more electric", clearly you havent watched Bradshaw play. Bradshaw can take it the distance any time he touches the ball. And the stats the last two years back me on that. We all want guys who get "chunk yardage" and Bradshaw was the best at 20+ yard runs last year.

Also, to assume hes going to want 275 carries is based on...? Bradshaw shared the ball with Brandon Jacobs for years in NY and never once complained about carries even when it got to the point when he was clearly outperforming Jacobs and when the team was clearly better with him carrying the ball more. Also, his stats tended to decline when he handles the ball more then 15-17x in a game as a back and I think hes aware of that.

Bradshaw's a pretty talented back. I think he's more talented than people give him credit for.

For the record, my FA plan would be:

    1) DeAngelo Williams or Ahmad Bradshaw
    2) Sidney Rice or Santonio Holmes
    3) Zach Miller
    4) Manny Lawson
    5) Marc Bulger as a backup

We have "muckers and grinders" our lines are pretty solid. There is no premium QB worth going crazy over so the best thing we can do is load up on weapons. A quintet of WR's of Marshall, Holmes or Rice, Bess, Hartline, Gates would be among the best in the league and present a serious problem for defenses since they would also have to deal with Fasano and Miller at TE and Thomas with either Bradshaw or Holmes at RB. Thats a nightmare. Im not optimistic it would happen but I can dream cant I?

    2008 - 9 fumbles/4 lost
    2009 - 7 fumbles/6 lost
    2010 - 1 fumble/1 lost

Ball security can be taught people...Bradshaw is a beast! Edit: Finally made it to the end of the thread and read Boiks comment, but that.

Hey I like that why not.

    I would like.
    Chis Johnson
    Santanio Holmes
Those two added would be just enough to make things go OUR way.
