In 07, we had Cleo Lemon, Trent Green, and John Beck at QB. Now, we have Henne. In 07, we had Ronnie, Chatman, and L Booker. Now, Thomas and ???? In 07, we had M Booker, Ginn, and Chambers. Now, we have Marshall, Bess, and Hartman. In 07, we had Crowder, Porter, D Pope, J Allen, W Allen, M lehan, JT, and Cam Worrell leading our D in tackles. Now, we have Bell, Dansby, Clemons, Wake, Davis and Smith leading the way, with guys like Langford, Starks, and Soliai holding the fort. Can anyone name a single player better, 3 years ago, that what we now have? DAMN, we've done pretty well. Now, we need to take this talent, and make it matter in winning a playoff game.
expansionesque.. Ive been reading a lot of opinion on some other boards...The lack of understanding by the majority of this fanbase about rebuilding is disturbing, and sometimes full of it.
The only one I can rightfully make an argument for is Vernon Carey. He played pretty darn well as LT that season; I'm not so sure his play's really gone up at all since then.
Hartman is a beast. As for the one player better than one now? Brandon Fields... because he had a career-high in punts that year...
I am not disturbed at all. Many just look for something negative to post, When this D plays, there will be nothing negative to post. They will be #1 in the NFL. And the O will surprise .
Gotta love hartman. He was a beast on STs and our best player on O for a 7 game stretch. He and Henne click, and he will have a coming out party this year.
That's true, but here's one that we had in 2007 that's much, much better today than then. Paul Soliai.
Yes, our current team is better than the 1-15 team. Guess what? It should damn well be better. That team was dog ****.
I am sorry but I cant say that the RB corps is any better. We have a kid that hasnt played one single down in the NFL. He may very well be a HUGE bust. We just dont know yet. I hope he blows up and gets a TD his first carry out but as of right now, we dont know what we have at RB other than what we know about the guys we've seen play in the NFL.
Don't tell that to the "rah rah everything is goody-goody in Dolphin Nation" crowd. They don't believe we could have the next Sammi Smith, but he's going to be the next Bo Jackson - didn't you know that ?
cause during a three year span, they have a winning record thru that span, the biggest turnaround in league history, and a division championship since taking over a piece of shi$ football team..
Lets just cut threw the BS considering most folks just want to talk about W'S...can anyone name a new regime that posted a winning record after 3 complete seasons where the first season started with the #1 overall pick, indicating they took over the worst team in football.?
this post is disrespectful, and insulting to those who have a positive outlook on this team based on deep analysis and time spent breaking down the structure and dynamics of a new regime taking over a franchise that was riddled with ineptitude.
You are so full of crap. Not a single person here has referred to Thomas as the next Bo Jackson. Maybe he does turn out to be no better than Sammie, but until he does, why constantly dwell on the negative and the worst case scenarios like you do? My gawd...
He wants us to think Thomas is gonna be sammi smith?...lol.. What the hell does that mean?. Jake...you wanna make a bet?, you might as well put your money where your mouth is.
Well, SB what should be kept in mind is 2007 did not just happen, it was the culmination of yrs of neglect, mismanagement and complacency. Starting in 03 or so, to me the high water mark of the franchise was trading OGun and trading for AJ Feeley, then we fell to pieces for the next 4 seasons really, 4-12, 9-7,6-10, 1-15, during that span our drafts and FA acquisitions became progressively less productive, when 07 rolled around and JT said Trent Green was one hit away from being scrambled eggs. John Beck should have happened around 03 or so, but Wanny could not develop athletes' foot, let alone offensive talent.
Hartman is just that jack of all trades guy who does a lot of things good but nothing great. He can be a great accessory in this offense.
Because Cameron pushed Ronnie Brown to be a better running back. Only guy who thought about his development honestly. Might piss everyone off. Only good thing Cam did.
Well he did get us our best punter since Mr Roby was booming them into the stratosphere 20 or so years ago.
Suggesting Thomas could just be the next Sammie Smith though, IS being positive for Jakey. Heck, I'm surprised he didn't say the next JJ Johnson.
Hey my fellow ''Rah rah goody goody'' buddy...I think were gonna win the superbowl this year MrC!!!!..Iam so excited, gee whiz aren't you?
I sure am. I'd be surprised if we lose more than 2 games. Thomas is going to gain 1500 yds, score 10 TDs on the ground, another 5 as a receiver, pass for 2 more from the WC, and be offensive rookie of the year too. Henne is going to throw for 30 TDs, maybe as many as 9 ints though, and make The Pro Bowl, along with Long, Pouncey, Bess, Marshall, Dansby, Davis and Wake. Gates will return 3 kicks for TDs, average 20 yds per catch on 55 receptions and catch 5 TD passes. Marshall will catch 120 passes and score 16 TDs himself. Super Bowl here we come!!!
Chambers, as a #2 WR although that's not what he played as in 2007. Will Allen, at that point, was better than Davis or Smith at the point those guys are right now...perhaps this coming season will disprove that, but as of this minute...Allen was a better player than either of those guys. It's really an unfair analogy though. You are comparing the final roster in 2007 where there was labor peace with an unfinished roster today and one that may be restricted in who we can acquire once the labor issues are resolved. Apples and oranges, Southbeach...apples and oranges...
True story Larry, I'm at the bottom of the barrel on Phins stuff to discuss, and those apples are far from perfect. I'm still hungry to talk a little Dolphins, and comparing some bad apples to oranges still ripening beats beating a dead horse. JMO
That's part of the point Padre, we shouldda, couldda, wouldda had picks and FA to make the team better and build on. We didn't. Now, I believe we have but, this talent still has mature, come together, and win games. Potential SUCKS if it's never realized.
