Which actually makes more sense for the panthers, do they really want to into 2011 with Newton and Clausen at Qb? I'm not a fan of the Pickle, some draftnik types loved his skillset coming out of Notre Dame and playing in Charlie Weis's offense, but to me he is Brady Quinn without even Quinn's level of toughness.
I projected his drop out of the first round accurately based on a few things that people did not seem to be picking up on when he came out..I know CK has discussed the scenario of trading for him, siting that he might of changed his ways from a maturity standpoint, however, my issues with claussen are deeper that just whats above the neck.. Might he of grown as a man, maybe, but the risks are to heavy in this case, I spotted his flaws as a freshman in college and wrote about them here..If Irish is smart, he will pass on the player.
Well Deej, I'm not a huge fan of his, I do see a couple of things that I did like about his game, imho he was more like 4th rd pick in terms of being ready to play Qb as a Rook.
I would rather have Quinn than Clausen and that's like saying I'd rather be bit by a Copperhead instead of a Cottonmouth. Either way, you're SOL.
I would take Brady Quinn or Matt Moore over Jimmy Claussen in a heartbeat. I can't stand that guy- the thought of him playing for the Phins almost makes me nauseus.
Yea I agree. The worst signing ever would still be Marcus Vick. My blood still boils that POS took one snap in a fins uniform even if it was negated by a penalty. If Claussen thought that linemen at ND gave him a good shiner, Big Jake would cave his face in.
I just love the nick name "Pickle". Yeah I thought Jimmy showed more punch than Matt Moore toward the end of 2010. Those last two games of Jimmy's, he actually showed some things that are pretty interesting. It's just speculation but I do believe the circumstances that have beset him over the last 15 months or so are sufficiently brutal to have possibly given the man a new perspective. It's possible. But the blurb above SOUNDS like speculation, not actual reporting.
I didn't care much for Clausen coming out. I didn't watch him play in Carolina so I can't say how he actually has been panning out or what he's been showing. But I do think the scenario above makes sense from Carolina's POV. I guess we can add him to list of potentially available QBs.
Completely - his 1st act of showing up at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in LA (in a limo no less) for his "press conference" to announce he was going to Notre Dame. PLEASE do something first, before the "I am someone important" act. Can't stand him.
Well, that is a catch-22 DJ, you WANT a Qb who has a high opinion of themselves, you DON'T WANT a Qb who has a high opnion of themselves when they have done absolutely nothing, they want to be jerks that is fine as long as they then perform, and that is Clausen's problem.
