Stanton now has 8 homeruns in May thus far.

Cousins destroyed Posey. Now his agent is getting soft on him asking for a rule change. Pathetic.

That sucks for the giants... pull a nice comeback only yo lose the game and your catcher because of it

Hopefully this means they will play him some where else in the future. He is too important to that franchise for him to keep taking a beating behind the plate. Same applies to Mauer.

Indeed. He can't just be honest and just say "hey, don't hurt my cash cow".

It really sucks for Posey, but don't block the plate when you don't even have the ball.

Him misplaying the ball and shifting to block the plate happens almost instantaneous. You can't place blame on him like that.

No idea where you find these things, but they're fantastic. This one is my favorite gif yet due to the flexibility of it. Useful in really any s*it situation, I feel like it will be especially relevant during the Dolphins' season (if there is one, of course).

    Outstanding.

Feel terrible for the kid - Santana last year and Posey this year. I know contact at the plate is part of the game but these injuries in particular seem so senseless.

    I don't know what you're talking about.

He catches the ball and shifts to block the plate almost simultaneously. He thought he had the ball. He couldn't have done anything differently.

I'm saying his agent doesn't have much of a case at all seeing as how Posey didn't even have the ball to begin with (no baseball play is to be made with him turning to block the plate)

I do see what you're saying that instincts kicked in for him to go and make the play perhaps not knowing he didn't have the ball. That said, the runner evidently had this very same reaction.

Fact remains though, instincts or not, he did not have the ball.

And all of this with Hanley still in his season long slump. Amazing. Had you told me before the season, that Hanley would be hitting just over .200 and had just a couple of HR's so far, and that the Marlins would be 9 games over .500 - I would have said you are crazy. Now if Hanley can start hitting, and we get JJ back strong and healthy - LOOKOUT - that wildcard will be ours.

I'm looking at the division until later in the year. Our 1-3 can compete with anyone. As well as the bullpen.

And they're a great road team...not many teams go to SF and sweep the Giants.

I think I'm hopping on the Marlins bandwagon this year for my NL team. They're just a fun team to watch and LoMo might just be my favorite non-Sox player due to his background and Tweets. And man Anibal has been awesome this year too which is huge with Johnson's injury and Javy Vazquez stinking.

Yeah the guy was already an on base machine and now his power is finally coming back now that his wrist is fully healed from a few years ago. Between him, Stanton, Hanley and Gaby this team has a very good, young, strong 2-5/3-6 core in the middle of the line up.

I wouldn't be so quick to give him one. He hasn't been the healthest through the years. Unless they can get him to sign a contract less than what someone like Clay Buchholz got I would rather go year to year with him, especially since Josh Johnson, another injury risk, is already signed long term you don't want to be paying a lot of the total payroll to 20% of the rotation that are injury risks.

7 game losing streak, six of them 1 run losses.

Eduardo Perez is the new hitting coach.

    Rock bottom.

Mike Stanton is taking over the league.

It would be a travesty not to see him in the Derby.

We never give a starting pitcher more than 3 years anyway, JJ being the exception.

I miss JJ. I miss Hanley, despite him playing like sh*t this year. I miss road games. I miss a productive Coghlan.

At least Stanton is doing work, so that's something to watch for at least.

And now we have a 4 gamer in Philly facing their 3 aces (Hallday, Hamels, Lee) and Kendrick.

Anibal can only pitch in one game, unfortunately.

JJ went down, Hanley went down then they started to suck. Timely hitting has been horrid (terrible with RISP, save tonight) and when the pitching has been inconsistent. When the hitting was on, the pitching sucked. When the pitching was on, the hitting sucked.

    1-10 homestand.

    1-10 homestand!
