http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/atlanta-thrashers-moving-to-winnipeg/article2029179/ Which is of course, tradition. Congrats to the denizens of the province Hockey has been gone for quite some time and it is good to see it coming back as Atlanta is not a Hockey town in any sense of the term.
Really? The folks up there really want their NHL back, Atlanta seems indifferent to the NHL, so I'm sort of cheering for them to land a team.
Video of the Princess: http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/385759/sir-ike-broflovski Oh the video is NSFW. Not at all.
HOLY **** I was just about to post this....This will happen...Do I finally get to change my Sig??????? I'm so happy UT: Rumor is Manitoba Falcons which is the name of our first team in the early 1900's or Manitoba Bears **** the Jets name....It reminds me of those green ****ers in new york
I'm fist pumping everyone in this thread even if it's a negative comment I like the Jets as much as I like the Dolphins....Imagine the Dolphins leave for 15 years and then come back
I'm really looking forward to the CFL season this yr wpg, especially seeing the redone BC place. The jumbotron is the second largest in N. America.
I must ask, why do the two teams from Winnipeg both have/had Aircraft as names? Is there some huge airport in WPG?
They took their name from an old Juniors team in the WHL the Winnipeg Jets, no idea how that Junior's teams came up with that name though.
The name is going to be Manitoba for sure not Winnipeg. I don't like it but it is what it is. As for the jets name 1. I hate it because it reminds me of NY 2. The jets moved to Phoenix and we are getting Atlanta 3. Our new owner is a Chicago bears fan. I like that idea but I hope we use a polar bear logo since northern Manitoba has them 4. If it's not the jets the most popular choice is the falcons which was our old team name
It was WHA and it was not junior it was just as good as NHL. Winnipeg led the European movement and we also had Bobby hull. Oh and a guy named Gretzky started his pro career in the WHA
I think you misunderstood me, the WHA team got the name the Jets from an old WHL team from the Juniors.
Good for Winnipeg/Manitoba. This is the second time the NHL tried to have a franchise in Atlanta and the second time it failed. The sooner they realize only college and pro football matter to that area the better off they will be. MLB and NBA can't even get Atlanta fans to come out regularly and they actually have teams worth watching. The good news for Winnipeg is they have a team again, the bad news is it's not very good
